well i just started sketching and came up with this. If i were actully doing this in a peice i would have worked it all and not left it in sketch form so theres much things you can point out. The face i would have worked on hell of alot more if i had time and such. Seeing as how i dont have as much time lately and i dont get the ability to post on here as much i just did a quicky so everyone knows i havent fallen off the side of the world :P. Pritty much everything about this i know i could have done much better specially the painting ... just wipped threw it. Whatever here it is.

(to Tom) Good drawing mate, i hear what your saying about life drawing, pain the arse, but a good trait to have. The only thing i would suggest is to work on your extremes of shading, push the darks a tad more and try to work a bit of a texture in, (maybe use a softer pencil?) Also, check your directional lines for the perspective of the table and such. Keep it up!

Good stuff Raven, I see a cool celtic over style in these drawings of yours.

Some suggestions i have would be to work on your character proportions. Your crouching knight with the shield seems to have teeny legs compared to the rest of his body, also check your posing so he doesn't look so fly swatted, i suggest picking a overall motion or creating a "gesture line". For example i did a quick sketch.

Posted Image

The orange lines represent a overall line of motion or gesture. By using this analysis you can help yourself from doing poses that go in to many directions, or ones that seem static or flyswatted.

I like your stuff (very cool and medieval) and want to see more! Keep it up, your coming along nicely :D

Hope that helped! :wbitey:

right on man ill keep that in mind. Something i never really took into consideration so thanks.

(edit)
Well i didnt have work today so i did a face. It may not be the best but i gotta start learning some where. One of these days im going to actully sketch it all out nicely and then paint it lol ... it would probably make the peices that much better!

Hey raven, nice face. The way you rendered the hair is great! I just have a link you can check out if your iffy on face proportions. Link!

Inflame- Thats an awesome pic! I love the creature on there. My crits are to watch your highlights, he looks like he just got outta the pool and hes standing in the sun. Other than that, its great! Maybe check out the coloring tut i gave Dash.

Dash- Yeah that tuts complicated, but it should give you a vague idea of what im trying to say. As you get better with coloring, you can move onto that stuff. Good linework, Crits are to keep the lines smooth and connected (maybe detail the hair and face a bit more). Drawing it in flash might do good for you. Reminds me of sonic for some reason. :D

EDIT: Heres a sketch i fleshed out, gonna redo the head though.

If you have seen the flasmovie Castle III you will remind this guy.
And i have read a bit of the tut you gave me, and i understand what it should be. The problem is i don't think i have the perfect technique to get good shadows and lightness on painting in PS. I don't see which brushes it is or should be right and wrong. On the tutorials i got it is more eaiser.
But thanks for the crits antiseal, and will go back and read the tut again, and this time more careful
And I will draw in flash also but i don't have it. Which is sad becuase i really wanna se how it looks.

Nice sketches as usual CLiNK

Ravenseye: the construction looks too good for a speedpaint make it a full paint cus I think it'd look great!

Cantdraw: yeh skins hard especially on the face here's a tut which first got me going on skin...I changed buts to suit me better though so it's not set in stone. The tips are helpfull (like using purple for shadow) http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/345632...h+age_scale%3A5
The mammel bug looks really cute :)

Clink- Those are great sketch compilations! Lots of energy and i love the style and the way you draw your faces. Brilliant :bfoot:

Raven- The thing that impresses me most about this is the coloring, you've actually done a pretty good job especially on the cloak and shoulder pad. Make the characters more dynamic! They shouldn't be standing there like a log, always draw with movement, it will help your overall compositions in the end!

Cantdraw- Looks like pillow hooked you up with a nice tut, if you haven't checked this one out yet i highly recommend. Also, i replied with a little tonal demonstration in the finished art thread that might give you an idea of what the key to toning skin is. Just remember picking tones can be a pain in the ass sometimes, and you just have to experiment with a variety before you know what will work.

Combine- A good start, what are you planning to fill those boxes with? (you also might wanna add a border, just a suggestion)

Scottsman- Nice, still workin that style i see, at least its not the froman this time :P

Thanatos- Wicked concept you have going there. I love your color scheme and the setting piques my interest, Ide say add more depth, maybe in the water, darkening it with graduated highlights as it stretches out. Otherwise its bloody awesome!
