I like this very much haha. ---------- Raven: For heads I've been reading "Drawing the Head and Hands" by Andrew Loomis. I've read about 12 pages, I get through the first few and then just feel like drawing   I also studied some of these sketches from Kevin Chen. |

ooo cool cool. So far have you found the book to be pritty usefull? Its just if i go put the money down on it i wanna know it will be worth it ya know! Did this today and im beliving im going to paint it. When ever i draw a creater i always think ... i wonder if ang would be proud hahaha so if she sees it i hope she is haha. I did a slight sloppy shade and then threw a little man in there ... what i was thinking this things size would be. I dunno if ill do a full out land scape and all but maybe ill put some stuff to represent its size.

Ok, i have now a new picture and now i need the better artists to help me. But don't help me so much either, only some crits i need to put it in and have some ideas to the picture. This is a sketch to my entrance exam this weekend. In the school I'm going to they will crits me much more and develop the picture. The finished i will put on the art topic. The theme we have should say something I think that is important to me. And then i think of my mottos: "Enjoy your life with a cup of tea" becuase i like to be happy and feel god and enjoy my life so possible I can, and then i started to draw this. ![]() So, what should be better in this picture? I have lost my fantasy right now so i need help very soon! This will not color in PS! |

Well dash i did this quick but hope it helps you out some. First of all your picture had no depth so i put some mountin like things in the back ground. Personaly it doesnt fit so i would go with more of some hills maybe with buildings. I took the fountin away from that location cous it drew away from your character and i moved it closer and to the right edge to pus the eyes more towards your character ... same witht he beam on the left. Did a fast shade just to kinda show you a lighting idea. Did more with the clouds. It may not be anything special but even these little things give alot more to the peice.

Since I've been doing Graphic design in College, I though I'd post two things I'd drawn in my book. First, my cover page, we had to do our name then somethings we like/ like to draw. It isn't finished. ![]() This is a Spiderman, I got bored and drew it, 8-10 mins. ![]() EDIT: Drew this after watching Avatar this afternoon:

Holy crap! So many posts while i've been away... *takes a deep breathe* To Raven's spider walky thingy> (previous page) You have a great design going on here! I applaud you for the design skill, however, it seems you "ghost" your lines alot. Try to smooth that out by going back over the drawing after the first draft, and either ink it with a line tool or try a steady hand ink over the sketch lines. You will find this adds a neater order to things. Wolf88- Ide love to see your stuff, dont be shy. We don't bite. (hard) Shenorai- Great chibis you have going on there. I love the color your using, and the lines are fairly neat and confident. My only crit is some of their poses. Alot of their arms seem to have a donkey-kong size ratio, remember than with arms elongated they only goto about groin level. Some of them seem a tad stiff in parts. When you do a drawing try using overall gesture lines to guide the momentum and form of your characters, this helps a great deal in moving character. To draw upon a old comment, heres a gesture sketch demonstration i did not too long ago. ![]() Let the lines follow and set a kind of symmetry in your characters, it will balance them greatly and give them a more realistic feel. Your doing great so far so keep it up! Calco- Im digging your style, when i see your stuff i can always say "Thats a calco". And in this day and age thats a plus! My biggest crits are mainly in your poses, some of the proprtions could be improved, like Aang seems a tad long. Your first page is alot of waist-up characters, dont be afraid to go full figure! As pop culture would say... "Shake that thang!" Remember its best to draw in motion, it makes characters more dynamic and cool to look at, you might check out the crit i gave Shen up above for what i mean in making dynamic motions with drawn characters. (that spider man pic is wonderfull tho, keep that up because thats exactly what im talking about!) Lastly, All your drawings don't have sketch lines! If this becuase your erase them after? If you do then just ignore my crazy self, if not, remember to sketch like crazy. It helpfull to be playfull with a sketch, its after all the framework and being meticulous only makes a sketch cramped. So when sketching, get into it, move around a bit, try to capture energy in your lines. In short, draw gesturally, and that will be another factor in adding life to your work. Keep it up mate, your doing just fine Comlock- ........... Your awesum Inflame- this might help you out a bit. The biggest concern that i have with your work is the proportions. Notice her left arms longer than her right. Her torso is far too long for her legs, she seems a bit flyswatter in her posing (refer to Shen's crit) I sympathize, you remind me of me when i was first drawing, scribbling up anime and such, what helped me most in hindsight was learning to draw lifelike people first, then the cartoons. I know most artists dont wanna hear it, but a traditional background for drawing is oh so helpful for digital design and character drawing, especially anime. Im loving the colors and the character concepts, keep it up but just check your proportion margins and you should be fine! Bludi- Good quickies, that hand seems a bit too vieny though, its a tossup since revealed knucklebones suggest fraily but bulging veins suggest strength or roids ( )Otherwise great, more more more! Cant just give me cams n hands! Sweater- I cant really crit, awesomely balanced character, no posing or proportion problems, and a great sense of style. A success! Ink and color it maybe? Dash- Looks like raven hooked you up with a pretty good crit. Perspective would defiantly add to the piece, It also seems a bit bare. Maybe some critters runnin around and a bit more vegetation would add to it. Keep going with it though, should look great when your all done! Phew... all done. Great stuff you guys, alot of you have been improving alot, and if your in a rut just remember, if you keep going you only get better. And if your overwhelmed, its alright to take a break, drawing should be fun! The way i used to get inspired was to curl up to my favorite movie with a sketchpad, and just draw and enjoy the movie. Keep it up you guys!

Thank you very much ravenseye, it's much better with more clouds and dark shadows So i did as you said; get the fountain closer, added some hills and more columns around and also some little quick shadows. but i didn't add some critters (what is that ) and more plants like antiseal said. but i hope it is better anyway
![]() So I asking again: Is it more i should add or take away on the picture before i finish this (darken down and add more shadows)? I want have a text down on the picture that it means what the whole thing is about. |

You know what. Your comment kinda made me wanna draw more I think I'll whip up some lifedrawing quickies (that hand was pretty much out of my head, just tried to remember what my hand looks like even if I had the resource right there, at hand : D) and post 'em here. Thanks dude! Now enjoy my little thingie which I drew in a swedish listening comprehension exam
Also put this on my "webcomic". Notice from the lines how small it is.![]() Then something I did on my religions' course exam. It's the actual exam happening. In the auditorium. Just looked left and drew something quick, I was bored.. :
