Captain America rocks!!

I really like Captain America's old shield better then his new one, so i made him with that.

This isn't quite finished yet, he's gonna be punching Hitler in the face.

I like this new style you're pulling out Sweaterjon :D I can't wait too see a lanky hitler :P

drawing I made in like 30 mins. Im probably going to use him as a character in an animation. Well once im ungrounded. =(

Solution! Convert one of your notepads into a flip-book!!

Fight the system, Purplecrayon!! :bing:

Two recent sketches from the last few weeks.

Once I study ungulates just a little more--- these will be unstoppable!! :bing: The muscles in the pectoral region look funny indeed. (and ack!!-- paired limbs!!)

This is too static. His pects' look odd, too. :(

Critique helps me get better. :)

Quick post (I'm in work, damn you brackenwood for making me addicted when I really should be working)

Anyway.
To AK: What I notice straight off is his stance. His chest muscles look like they are facing us although he is standing at an angle. His right pec muscle is also postioned a little high. His shoulders are at an even height but his right pec (our left) is slightly higher than the other. I would maybe lower them slightly, if he was to look down he would have a face full of cleveage lol. Bulk him up a little more around his ribs to give him that more upside down triangular muscular figure. The bigger the chest the broader he becomes in the upper body, and a narrow waist line empahsises his upper body strength. Not too much though cuz he will look like a body builder. At the moment he is slightly cylindrical.

Also his biceps look strange. Check your own biceps and you will notice they go up into the armpit more. His are hanging a little low. And also on his right arm you are cutting his muscles very sharp, especiallly the triceps and his elbow.

I like the neck and face.

Apologies for the rushed explanation, in work, trying to type quick before boss walks round the corner lol. I would draw on it to show you what I mean but I have no wacom at mo. Using a shitty mouse in work.

adios

Now the first thing i saw a problem with was the torso, you have it bent in a way that only someone standing in profile could achieve.

The red lines illustrate the torso in front view, the pecs are front view, but the was it was originally put them at reverse, meaning the torso looked profile with the pecs looked like they where viewed from the front. A way to avoid this problem is to make a symmetrical lines down the middle of the chest, know that as your middle point and space things evenly according to it.

The yellow lines are muscle placement. I lowered the head onto the neck a bit more and pulled down the pecs as they where a bit high, remember that the pecs should never be parallel with the shoulder line.

The blue lines note the arms. The problem your having here is muscle placement. This can be easily remedied by looking at a bit of reference.

heres some to get you started: (tried to find good bicep stuff)

http://www.biologydaily.com/biology/upload...00px-Biceps.jpg

http://homepages.uni-tuebingen.de/paul.gevaudan/biceps.jpg

The reason i drew the arm outstretched is that usually drawing a arm that is perfectly foreshortened is not that effective, its more dynamic and interesting to show things at a angle that isn't direct. But if you want to, i sketched at the top a easy way to do it. First draw the thing in profile or 2/4's. Then draw guidelines horizontally, then draw it using those guidelines for placement and reference.

A better example of foreshortening

Thats about it! I love your drawings and your progressing really well, just remember to keep on practicing and ill try my best to give the greatest amount of info i can for you!

Keep on keepin on :wbitey:

Thank yew!

Crits are the best way to learn, and so much stuff gets overlooked in here, which reminds me...

I just noticed that your perspective lines are a bit off like some of those cabinet things in front of him arent too straight. try drawing them lightly with a ruler beforehand, that should clear some stuff up! I like that dino lookin guy you have in there. :)

looks like your exploring texture in there clink! Good job with that i put that off for quite a while and now i regret it. Im trying to incorporate it more in my peices ... at least on my creatures wtf i should start doing it all around. Anyways i dont know what program your using but it looks like photo shop so i may have a few pointers. When clicked on your brush tool you can press the Alt button that will alow you to quickly flip into eyedropper mode. This will allow you when you place down a color that has a lets say 45 opacity get that shade of the overlay on another color. Then you can get some nice smooth gradation. Try thinking about the lighting so you can pull those colors out more. Use more saturated colors in painting the base. Keep up the sexy work!

Teeheehee, well, the thing is that I don't own a ruler and perspective was the last thing that came in my mind. But I'll remember that advice of yours. (: I still don't trust them rulers.. Feels like wallhack on CS.. :D Okay, I'll just do them drawings..

Thanks raven, that eyedropper will come in real handy! :D Lighting was my real fear, I sort of pulled away from it not wanting to completely ruin the picture  But next time I'm going to go a bit more wild with colour. Whether it will be fit for human eyes is yet to be determined :D

I give you the same advice ive been given many times. And its the same advice that i have given others many times.

Alot of people when they start out have problems in specific areas, i have a problem with legs, still do :D

The best thing you can do is to make a study, if your bad at drawing feet, draw feet. Draw feet in every angle possible, every action, flexing, bending, jumping, crouching, tip-toeing! Draw from life! Buy a sketchbook and fill it up and simply draw draw draw and draw.

If you do this and your stuck, and don't think your improving, post here and we can help you out. :bing:

good luck :bfoot:

I've followed antiseals advice..and i've drawn some feet..and i added some random facial exspressions of my animation character :P
Anyway i've never gone to any artclass thingys or anything i just began to draw as a little boy..but i haven't really learned how to proceed with a drawing...like..making guidelines and stuff...and i'm not very satisfied by my feet drawnings :P

Wolf88 I would really suggest you pick up one of Preston Blair's Books, it seems you like drawing on the cartoony side and what his books really help with is drawing with more depth.

Your squirrel character is a good start but he is incredibly flat, this book and plenty of practice will really get you going in the direction that you seem to be going for.

His books aren't expensive and you may be able to pick them up from the library (there at mine) but yeah if you wanted to buy them, there on amazon and you can get a smaller one for $4.00 and the big book for $10. So a pretty sweet deal.

Wolf, I agree with Sweaterjon. Once you can nail your construction (which I still haven't done  :D ) you will be unstoppable. The Preston Blair book is really good but if you're strapped for cash or want to start drawing now you can find about 75% of the original book here at the Animation Archive. :)
