Dave.. forget animation with Disney man, you could be a digital background painter! Scuse the language, but fuck you're good with colour. I mean, really... I wish I could do stuff like that with Painter, Sketchbook or Photoshop... well, maybe I can, but I just don't know my way around the apps.

That shiny Bingbong one I did was about an hours work, and it's kinda boring. How do you get such a clean line? Can you explain your process, or would you rather keep it under your hat? :shane:

Posted Image Thanks. It's actually funny you should compliment me on that. Because I'm color blind! I'm dead serious and thus color has always been a struggling point for me in my work. Classically, I've compinsated by using more vibrant color schemes (IE - one's I can clearly tell the difference between ;) ). Anyway, it's nice to hear that I'll learned to fake it a bit. :D

As far as career paths, BG painting would be cool, only I suck at none-organic stuff (you notice the complete lack of machinery or architecture in my work). I've often thought about being a concept artist. But, I don't think I'm up the the caliber that I see around. Then of course I love think about how to move things. I'm one be jumble these days with no direction except the huge sphere of diversity in the animation industry. So who knows where I'll end up. It's a total bitch right now, because I'm being pressured by my school to "pick a niche". When really, I'm pretty good at many things, but exceptional at none of them. Anyway, enough self pity....

As for line quality. I'm not sure of too many secrets, other than drawing with as little caffiene as possible (it gives me jitter hands). But, since you, the great demi-god of animation, has seen fit to ask little ol me, I shall do the best I can to explain it.

Not sure if this helps. But, I've been promising these guys a Painter tute using Captivate, maybe when I get to that, it will reveal more than I think about consciously.

BTW, Adam, you've just given me probably the biggest compiment of my life so far. Having something of your caliber ask me about my process, well, it's super cool. :D

NOOB!, looks like you've been busy while on hiatus, great work man!

Thanks for the tips Humble.. from what you've explained, it seems like we are similar in a lot of ways. I have a problem drawing machinery and architecture too, which is why you don't see much of it in my work.. also it's the reason the cars in hitchHiker 2 were done with swift3D (cos they looked shit in hitchHiker 1)

I usually do a rough, then a clean, but have a little bit of a patience problem cos I can draw most things right the first time. Therefore any illustration that requires several re-draws of the same thing (i.e building up a drawing), I tend to make a rush job of it. This isn't the case when it comes to character design or animation poses... just illustration.

Welcome back Ogdru!! I was talking to Jim Preston the other day.. he was wondering how you're doing :)

Nice pics NOOB.. take care out there, and congrats with the publishing dealy!

I think that's why I was drawn to your work in the first place. It was like something I'd do. Or something I'd do if I could animate like "whoa". I always enjoy seeing organic dominated pieces... not sure why... I grew up in freakin suburbia, the least organic thing in the world...lol

Because as a child he fell from a great distance and damaged the animating nerves in his brain. <_<

He was with Disney for 12 years or something like that right?

I'm not saying that with 11 years more experience I couldn't become as good as him, I was only trying to make the point that his work is the type of thing I'd do if I was at his level.

BTW, Eye, thanks, you're a sweetheart! :shane:
