Saw this in your sketchbook. How long do you think it took to paint?

it took me about 6 hours to do. I would have liked to have put more detail into the clouds and front grass but i had another assignment due and i had to call it quits on the one i was having fun painting.

I'm starting work on my thesis. You'll probably recognize the big fat character. :P Sorry that the drawings are so rough, I had less than two hours to crank out two BG's and the two pictures here. Hopefully it'll be enough to get some critique on design.

Most people liked the tadpole. The stoner fruit bat was hated by everyone for being too busy, and it was split about 40%-60% between the dragon-toad and the angry fat stingray. So, trying to combine the two and we get this:

He's wearing tengu geta sandals, fyi. Still trying to get them to read. I'm still not sure whether to keep or ditch the catfish barbels; they work better in other pictures, but it kind of musses the silhouette.

Edit: Jemooky, baby, that's hot. Great soft shading. Easy on that hard shadow next time.

Personally I say it looks fine how it is, looks good (to me).

That tadpole is 10 pounds of cute in a 5 pound bag, but I'm not as crazy about the dragon-toad. My heart belongs to the toad sketch in the top right of the page, although I would be super happy if by inflating his throat, the character could switch between those two looks.

Hmmmmm... what would I say?

I say:
"Digging the toad (and sandals), I quite like the barbels, but I think they look too much like seperated ellements right now (doesn't stick)."

And:
"That turtle is wack!"

*end transmission*

Anghenfil:I really like that dragon toad!
I like muzzoid suggestions on the sandals since your version looks more like stilts to me =)

The tadpoles has alot of 50\50s in the design. Maybe you could try experimenting breaking that up more.

Started on this one a while ago. Sort of forgot about it/couldnt work on it when my hard drive broke. I'm trying to redesign the arm attachments from the piss poor design they have now.

He's using flash so the brush size isn't fixed depending on how much you zoom in

Noice. Have you seen any of the Gnomon videos? I know they have DVD's on plane and car construction or something. I have a perspective one which I'm in the middle of watching now.

Yo muzzoid, looking funky fresh, although the perspective of the wing closest to us is wrong. In comparison to the other one (which looks to be straight) this one looks to be bent and angled downwards. If this was you intention then ignore me, but to me it looks like the wings are not in line. Same for the tail wing ;) but looking nice nonetheless.

Actually i think that you will find that i stuffed up a lil and my horizon line isnt horizontal.

It was most deffinatley my intention to make the wings slant downwards, at quite a slant.
But it all comes down to practice as i think i stuffed up some construction lines on it.

I dont really care about the design much as this was just an exersize in perspective.

Ah, excellent! So did you get like all the Robertson ones or a bundle or something? I only have the basic perspective one, it's very very helpful.
