Don't know if this counts as a sketch or a finished art but meh.

Trying out some new brushes in PS.

[Edit] Esn: Thanks. I was actually using the knife for most of my blending, but I didn't know you could change the wetness level. Is that what thinner does? (it's grayed out on the trial version)

Stunning amount of detail you've put into that drawing, rktunekitty.

I agree with Espen. Focus on trying to soften the jaw lines, they're coming off too large at the moment which gives a masculine look. You're probably sick of hearing it from me but focus on the basics more, work on construction to tighten up your proportions and features.

The latter probably, but I've been doing these things for nearly a month now, mostly with acrylics and chalks and such. My teacher organized a little creative course at the alternative art center (or someplace like that). This was just a quick sketch.

We have to make an image of every letter of the alphabet in whatever way we like for school. Well, I still had to do the V, and their was little time left. So a little fast painting of a gorilla was made.
:P

Done in half an hour or so, and on small format.

And yes, I know, his legs suck. :P I never seem to get them right on those damn gorillas.

great landscape painting, i especially love the mountains- the tree is a little off methinks, is it some sort of custom brush you used on it?

I'm currently doing a Metroid Prime 2 "themed sketch week" where I'll try and do as many sketches as I can before this Sunday, when I'll change themes (and find more source pictures). I've now retaken the picture, used Photoshop's "Auto-smartfix" to make the values better, and I did a 40 minute sketching session with 3 more sketches.

Your cartoons are really improving fast Calco! I haven't seen some of your stuff for a while with school and stuff but there's so much character in this face and the proportions are brilliant!

I like your colour one, Tony! It has soul.

I've been trying to learn colour myself lately, because I finally have time to work on my film (which I want to have a painterly look). Anyway, I'm just searching right now for a style that is doable for me. I have no trouble with outlines, but I haven't done colour in ages. This is me experimenting with some sort of "charcoal" style in Artrage:

This is going to be the title screen; the title will be in red cursive writing in the lower left corner. I'll add it in later.

There are a lot of things in this image that I'm not happy about, but I figure that I'll probably use it anyway. I've got to make about 23 backgrounds in the next couple weeks, not to mention character art, so I'm going to just keep it if it "mostly works". I'm counting on strong direction and concept in the finished film (and excellent music by MJTTOMB) to override the lack of painting skill on my part. ;)
