I recognize that shop ;)

My one comment is that maybe it looks a bit too much like something someone pulled out of swift 3d. Try adding a few gradients here and there.

Can you take us through your process of making one of those pictures? Please pwety please with a cherry on top!

Yeah, I hated it the first time to. Then I discovered layers and how to use the tools, and I was in heaven. Check out Mike Krahulek's (Gabriel from penny-arcade.com) tutorial on the Alias page.

No, I hand-drew all the frames. I get my ideas from comedy shows, horror movies, talking with my strange friends about such things, and usually it just comes from my sick mind.

I just bought the 120 set of Prismacolor pencil crayons and had to play with them. The scan doesnt show the shading detail very well.... and I really screwed up his right hand but ehhh.... :gasp:

AH, that sucks, Eye. Just send those pencils to me.

lol. j/k :P
Actually it's quite impressive and the right hand isn't much flawed other than the curve of the meat of the palm ain't quite so. Otherwise it's pretty good! Looks like an illustration from a childrens book or something. GJ!

I like the expression on the wolf... I'd really like to know the context of that scene now. One crit I'd offer is to thicken or darken the outline of the wolf's head to give it some depth and separation from the backdrop.

mmm, just glancing back at it... you did just that with the colouring of the shirt/body but a bit more emphasis on making the whole character stand out from the BG wouldn't hurt.

I rikes it. :bing:

MiG

*Edit: Looking at it again, I see the light source being like bright moonlight, upper right. Consistant throughout. You already have some hilites on the character so mebbe somemore shading on him as well.

lol. Yeah... he doesn't like the way it's drawn. Nothing like the artist coming thru in his work. :D
::heh heh:: Sorry, Eye. I ain't trashing ya so I hope you don't think that I am. That's what I mean about the expression, tho. It really conveys!

hemroid that is good use of gradients. Pretty cool actually. Not sure if you're aware or not but if that's done in Flash then the line tool is great for establishing select areas to cel shade including applying gradients and such. Pretty nifty feature actually.

Damn! No sketches for the sketch thread! Wot am I thinking! Runs back to drawing board...

hmmm, yeh, that's cool. Gradients are a huge drain on resources in animations anyway, although they look good when used well like you did. For still images (animations too, actually) created in Flash the line tool is good to create a temporary line so you can flood fill an area and then double click the line (so you select all parts of it) and then just delete it. Great thing for cell shading and stuff.

Okay, here I am yammering on in the sketch thread and I don't think I've posted a sketch in like a month! <_< And really what I should be doing is working on my March comp entry if I even hope to stand a chance of placing. WoW! Some great works being posted this month... it'd be cool just to say I entered! :worry:

cheers,
MiG

No worries Mig! I know that you are deffinately one person here who gives constructive crits! :D
I was really happy with the facial expression myself! It is susposed to be the first time this character has changed into a wolf.... and he's looking at his hands like WTF??? Or maybe he's looking at his right hand saying "What the hell?? I have two left hands!!!"
Anywhoo.... the investment for the prismacolor's was well worth it! Although I never in my life thought I'd spend $200.00 on pencil crayons!!! :gasp:

What program did you use to do that?

If you're adressing Bardaux, (I think you are), then I can answer the question, he isn't using a program, he did it with his colored pencils (the same brand theEYE used) I have them too, they're great!

Yes.. Prismacolors gives anyone who touches them a mysterious magical power of drawing!!
Trouble is, they're like 1USD per pencil, so a 24 pencil box will run you about $25.
