I've been playing around with the idea of redesigning the Sandwich Shop Ninja character, and here's a sketch of what I've come up with:![]() The coloring will remain the same as the origional. While working on the next SSN movie (before my hd died <_<) I started to find the floating body-part thing limiting in certain ways. Certain poses would look completely bizaare when held, like if I had a character cros their arms or lean on something (no visible elbows). The Sandwich Shop Ninja essentially speaks through body language, which is not easy when most of your appendages aren't visible. If the FLA file for the project is recoverable, the next SSN animation will be in the old style and be tweened and pseudo-fbf. If not, it will most likely be in this new style and done fbf. I also did a concept sketch of that random kid that got hit with the sandwich: ![]() This is the first drawing of him I've done in the new style. I don't really like how he came out. The torso is too tall, the whole character is too tall, it's not as rounded and egg-shaped as I'd like it, and I need to figure out what I'm doing with the legs and feet. |

Yay, it has limbs now! Really good imo.
Well, I'm not much of an artist, but I think you should loose the white spots around the volcano (colour them) and maybe some contrast between the sky and the volcano too, the colours are just too alike right now.
It should be!

I personally like the white smoke stuff, but the streaks of light coming from the top look kinda out of place. Overall, it's still pretty good for 15 minutes |

Pinned topics were origionally created so that important topics would be easy to find. Since this topic rarely ever leaves the first page, it's not really necessary and even a little redundant to pin it!
Bussman, your volcano seems to be spewing confetti from the top. Lava is pretty much glowing orange and very liquidy. The lava flows on the volcano need to have more contrast in brightness, and the stuff spewing from the top should be more blobular. It's a good start, though.

Bussman's realism is rating kinda low. But when I looked at it, I still liked it. Twas the colors, they are great. Think of that pic as a color map, then refine it, a lot, and you will have a very cool looking picture. [good eye for color!] |

probably cos i made it... and the doodle thread is waaaaaay more important <_< bah! like sed earlier, it hardly leaves the first page neway. ......... Bussman:nice attempt, but i'm not sure what ur goin for? realistic painting or toonish?,even it is more on the toony side, don't be afraid to use reference man, google volcanos and such...but at this stage ur goin great, keep practicin.what doesn't work for me is the little coloured specs as others mentioned. markham:great work,i'm likin the design *even if it is a tad simplistic* looks great. elephant: ah finally, sumone usin the linda brushes, work like a charm don't they? i'm impressed,i know its a WIP,but make sure u have strong shadow definition in this one, right now the blues are too similar which makes it looks more flat that 3 dimensional. |
