yay! i made a new character. Jem kinda inspired me to make thisone alittle cuz it reminded me of a cat that comes around my hourse, that attacks lucky (which is my cat) and sneaks in my house and eats his food. Its name is Ziggy and its owned by some scum bags up the street that dont take care of it, so we do (kinda)

this is Ziggy-Luckys nemesis..

Colesif, looks like you go two fanarts. And I like the new character. I think you should give him a little sumfin' else. Like a scarf or something to set him apart even further from lucky. Also, try out a colour other than white and gray. Add a slight tint of another colour to it, just to see if it looks any better.
So Cole, are you going to fill us in on lucky's story and what you have planned for him?

I've just been playing around with some flash styles. Nothing special.

So Cole, are you going to fill us in on lucky's story and what you have planned for him?

well im still tinkering with the story a bit. i have a lot planned for him, because im really starting to get more confident with that character. I was thinking somewhat of a action/comedy type thing. I want lucky to have a kind of heavy, mean sounding voice, like Stewie from Family guy. Ive yet to decide whether i want to make comedy an element in it, but i think it could work out, just cuz the personality i have formulated in my head is kinda comical. Im also playing with the idea that he is a "werecat" so he changes to some really big nasy lion type cat, with blueish purple colors at moon light. hes definetly gonna have a katana as well. his story will prolly start out with him being a stray of some kind, prolly in a big city atmosphere. hope that helped enlighten a bit about my little project so far. :) ;)

this is something i must have drawn about 3 months ago, so its not nearly up to ddate, and its not a great drawing (i was just starting to use PS, and i was a bad drawer) but it kind of gives an idea of Were Lucky

^no crits needed on that picture, i know its pretty crappy, but its from a while ago, and this is the next thing on my list to be re modeled.^

also, me and Mr.Jiggmin are in the works of a game, so i gotta finsih my model sheets for lucky, were lucky, and Ziggy. then make up a few bad guys, and get my sorry ass animating. So you guys can look forward to that too. (hopefully it wll be good and win me two hunnerd and fitty bucks on NG :P *cough* and jigmin can have a quarter :P jk

If u guys have any suggestions for me about this stuff with lucky and his story, dont feel shy to share them with me. Mr Jiggmin has been a huge help in the development in this character, and TFC was what set off his original look. So im open to ideas.

To Jems Drawing: they look neat for flash, with the shading and stuff, kinda looks differnet than whats normaly portrayed as flash work (kinda) the faces look pretty good man. keep up the good work!

man i gotta find a plcae that helps teach drawing humans and aniamalllllllllllllllssssss

This is a background from a school film that I didn't finish (but I still might continue).

Com and Noob, I need tips on how to get faster... I'm kind of embarassed that this picture took me 8 hours to make.

Colesif and Jett, I really like the variations you two are putting on Lucky... He's quite a versitile little character.

Well the only tip i can give you is don't do deatails too soon, just start out with with the rough shape/composition and work on top of that. Otherwise it's just experience that makes you faster.

actually anghen, for a nice detailed background such as this,i wud say 8 hrs is about right for the artistic stage ur at.

tips on getting faster....hmmm.....planning mostly, instead of going straight into it,just lay down light paints *or just plain colour depending on what program ur using* all around the image, like comlock has just discovered

this will give u an overall idea of how the pic is gonna turn out before u start adding details, and will save u having to make too many corrections.

thats basically what rubber said in more detail

i have one crit though..u know how u have the trees goin into the background, then lastly u have these big green tree arcs right at the end? make the big green arc thingies at the end more saturated *cooler green*,that will add more depth, right now those arcs look pretty flat.

apart from that... excellent job,and 8hrs is fantastic timing don't worry, minumum is usaully 6hrs.

and thats where rubber is right again, speed comes with experience,u'll learn how to do things quicker by ureself eventually, every artist has there own technique.

thats all i can think of.

comlock ur up next hehe.

Just read what Noob and Rubberhead said
I have nothing more to add=)

(heres an example of what their talking about, before going into details)
(use a big brush to block in the main colour\shadow\light)

You can see the finnished result of this painting
here

(I used a week on this one, so 8 hours is just fine Anghen;) )

Yeah, that makes sense, especially since there's supposed to be heavy mist in some parts of this forest. I was under the gun making all of the backgrounds (I think the final tally was like 25 or so), so I started screwing up without realizing it towards the end. I'll probably go back and touch up a lot of them now that I have time.

I get jealous when you and Comlock can whip out amazing paintings in a few hours.

I agree that blocking in everything is the way to go... that's how I did all of my digital paintings for this project. I would have been a LOT slower if I hadn't.

Hey Com, I saw your finished golem painting. That's a pretty intense job you did there, and I like the changes you made to the sky. LOVE the glowing eyes. The only crit I have is the position on the golem's legs... They seem a bit awkward.

where did u get that impression? a few hours? wuhahah

not even a professional digital artist can whip a decent painted background or image in a *few* hours.

and no artist i know does it one day, they probably would span it over a week, depending on what type of deadline there is.

cud be anything from 6hrs to 12hrs on one painting.

i don't know about com,but i'm sure he cudn't wip out a detailed digi painting in like 3hrs

if he can ...then F**K him <_<

 Joke.
......

also anghen i'm curious...whats that pic for??

I was exaggerating, hence the  But in all seriousness, you two are incredible. I see your stuff and my jaw DROPS, especially when you mention the length of time you spent on it.

That picture was a background in a film that I didn't finish.

Comlock, yeah, I was referring to the leg rotation. It looks like the toes on the outlined leg ought to be pointing more towards the camera. It's still an awesome picture though, so I don't wanna pressure you TOO much. :P

sharlston,u've already broken the rule of planning, which me and com have mentioned several times.

u gotta quick-paint all areas first to see how the whole thing looks, never go straight into detail

take a look at Comlocks process, basic lineart, colour testing, then detail.u have skiped straight into detail.

but the overall compostion looks great so far.
