... can I get half of that sandwich? I like that piece, but I think it'd look better if you put something into the background other than just two blurred together graidents - ie... uh... something you would find in a sandwich shop (it's 2 AM. I'm tired. such, nothing comes to mind except for chairs which would seem somewhat akward.) maybe a counter or something? just a suggestion. |

Yeah >.< it was a quickie, I might shade it but im not sure. But yeah, I've recently thought about the anime style. And I've decided to go out on a limb for once and draw something completely different than my usual stuff... ![]() All that strikes me is the words "Demon Angel" Perhaps a old demon changed his ways to join the forces of good. Other than that, just something I whipped up to explore a new horizon. One part of me is screaming "No! step away from the anime!! theres no future there!" The other half of me is saying "But Anime is your favorite! your medium! How can you ditch the anime style you've been working at for like two years?!?!" And im just... lost. I want to explore anime, I want to master it. After all, its what I began with, totally abandoning it now would be a waste. Also, theres lots of things I like so much from it, I'de like to incorporate them into my drawings. This summer i will be exploring a bit more... and getting away from the anime aspect of things. Over the summer you will definatley see me trying to just get a grip on that and sketch out something completely different and original, much different from what style I've been using as of late. Hopefully it will help me to find something new, and something I can call my own. Seal out. |

Anti (if you don't mind me calling that), here's my suggestion. I'm basicly just repeating the words of what a few great artists have taught me. Get real-life and figure drawing down. Go outside, sketch a tree, a person, a house, anything, anything real. Try to make it realistic and un-stylized (by that I mean un-anime) as possible. Get good at drawing figures and realisticly and then develop a style (read: go into anime.) Just my two cents. Sorry, I was going to also post what I thought of your pictures but I forgot. So; For the first picture, I like it, I like the outlines and the pants. But the posture and position of the arms bothers me, as if she was in the middle of shifting from one position to another. As for the Angel/Demon, I like it! Finish it up, color it, it'll look really cool. I like that. |

to markham: looking good. frame x frame i see. was ninja shop dude tweened b4? i cant remember. ive noticed since joining here (well i noticed myself) that when they show a piece of work it is most likely tweened, but after learning from the board, tweening goes right out the window, and everyone converts to fbfs. to master rade: lmao, i dont know whether to be offended or pleased. nice work, but my nose aint that big dude. and my lips look slightly messed up lol, but nice use of the mouse. (u wouldnt be tracing these pictures now would u masterrade? )antiseal: liking ur style man. ur demon dude looks cool. leaning slightly to the left though. |

mmm. true, but that's somewhat a bad thing. tweening has such a bad rep because it's over used by new/low quality animators who're trying to get the hang of flash. the result usually ends up in tweenfests which are horrible over tweened movies, and they give tweens a bad rep - but just like graidents, tweens used well, subtly, and correctly can be benifital for any movie. |

I think I said that wrong. I don't have a problem with the anime style, really; it's the generic knock-off style of anime that I have issues with. If I saw your drawing mixed in with a thousand others, I'd be very hard-pressed to pick it out. On the other hand, I'd know anything drawn by Katsumo Otomo in an instant. He does very elaborate visual angles and architechture, adds a lot of environmental grit, and his humans tend to be drawn with small eyes and large foreheads. One of his trademarks is that his character's pupils are just white circles if the picture is not a close-up. Of course, he's a master with lots and lots of years under his belt. You and I are just starting out. Anime is fine, but you need to set yourself apart. Take art classes and draw from life. Draw from other people's artistic styles. Your own style will develop naturally. Very nice devil, by the way. I love to you made him pigeon-toed; makes him seem a bit awkward in a good way. |

ugh Freud is the worst thing to ever happen to psychology not really because of his ideas but because of the fact that he's a household name and people automatically associate psychology with him I myself follow the teaching of psychologists who believed in the more behavioural theories (like operant conditioning/classic conditioning etc...) such as Pavlov, Skinner and Thorndike. Physically and mentally it just makes way more sense than "everything you do is sex!" of course sex has a major impact on us... our primary goal is to reproduce. just not as much as freud seemed to think it did in my humblest of humble still only an undergrad opinion. ...back to the drawings! it's my summer vacation... my brain should stop thinking about brains and concentrate more on nothing. |

Bing! New day new drerring![]() Thats going to be my next big colored one, ill stick in a nice background too when im done. But right now i need C&C on this one (poroportions, pose, and anatomy-wise) first before I add in detials. But before that im going to fix the leaning problem on the demon up above, fix a few proportions on him as well. Color him up and see how it looks (thinking of a brown, gold color scheme). Ill post em all in here when im done. (or on the look at my stuff thread, whichever) All sketched on photoshop, no references as usual. Comments and Crit please! (p.s. Thanks to Ang for taking some time to put her wisdom into my work, you have no idea how much it helps. Thanks a million) |

I am sorry, but something about that pose looks really wrong. I just can not put my finger on it. Something about the anatomy or maybe the proportions. I am really sorry, I just can not tell what is wrong about it. Maybe the legs are to long for the body? No, I do not think that is it. I will get back to you on this one..

Yeah i measured each of his arms, each are what length they are supposed to be. (that is if they where laying down they would go just below the pelvis) As for the legs, yeah, mystical is right, on leg is longer becuase it is closer, wherin the other is farther back. Iunno, it looks fine to me, and i had my bro take a look and he said it looked fine. Well mystical your just usefull arnt ya!  Yeah, if you do think of something that looks off dont hesitate to tell me. Huh??? Anyone have a translator? |

I see the effect you're going for anti, but you're over doing. You're trying to add a nice perspective to the picture, but in doing so you've over estimated some of the sizes of the limbs. For starters, the right (our left) arm is short - I think you should extend the part of the arm above the elbow a little and, doing the same with the hand. The right (our left again) leg is slightly too long. The head is slightly two big. But it's looking good! Continue! |

Thanks for the feedback chungus! Here it is with the modification. Lengthened his right arm and tweaked it a bit, downsized his right leg. Lengthened and skinnied his left leg. And made his head smaller. ![]() Any more changes? EDIT* aw crap, i should have sketched in some stage. For you who are wondering he isnt crouching. I just noticed if you look at it that way it looks like it. He is actually standing, his left leg (our right) is up on Something of higher ground, so imagine like a little platform or stump there to get a idea of what im gonna go for. (though on second thought the corching position might not be to bad either, meh.. ill decide later) |

Well, I always thought that long legs with a smallish torso looked awsm, I like yours a lot. As for me, I just spent the better part of an hour messing around in Dabbler, and this:![]() is what I have to show for it. Drawn completely with the mouse, believe it or not. Three guesses who it is! |

I use photoshop on most things i do. Sometimes Open Canvas. I dunno about a background, i just wanted to color the figure to get a better grip on character color in relation to contrast and volume. Ill add a bkg for sure on my other one though. |
