That could be any number of interesting phenomena. I do that too sometimes.

One thing, it could be that you're dreaming of falling, and that sensation is just a leftover from the dream state, and that that movement never actually happened, that it was all in your head.

Also, you could be moving in your dream, and that movement could be translated into real movement(a convulsion), which wakes you up.

Or you could actually be floating above your matress in an unconsious state that increases your innate psychic abilities, but this explaination is more doubtful.

That always happens to me when I fall asleep in a moving vehicle (not driving of course!)

Arse.
I get that but instead of waking up when I hit the ground I fall through it

you usually get it just before you goto sleep because your body goes to sleep but you are still concious, so you jolt and then you wake up.

at least thats what my teacher told me.

Everybody stand back! I know regular expressions!
I get that sometimes, usually when I'm just laying in bed because it's been a long, boring day, and then I feel like I'm falling and I jerk awake. :bitey: :bing:
or sometimes I just skip the whole falling business and jerk for no reason. hm, strange.
