Hey All..I figured instead of people putting there own personal 3D threads all over the place, that we should just have one 3D art gallery so you can showcase what you're currently working on....This is something for my new Flash cartoon and i must say that it's the most difficult thing i have ever modeled......I felt guilty just downloading a car model someone else made. Plus i'm up to the challenge...What do you think?

thanks EYE......I have one more car to model after this one......It kinda hard but im starting to get the hang of it cause your geometry has to flow as well and that is the hardest thing to do....Keep tha flow going.....Oh and I started that with a box primitive... |

Here's another update.....Added the wheels and front detail and prepared the mesh for some NURMS subdivision.......Now it's off to cut the doors and panel detail

LOL yeah i don't know much about cars but the blue print had those lugs on there. I thought it was a little excessive too, but kinda is cool at the same time... |

it's 3dsmax V.5.1... I also use the Swift export feature so i can vectorize the 3d animation when im done and composite it with Flash and AE.. |

That's so mightly awsomely good.
 I can't wait to see it. Is it for the brocoli movie you're working on? I saw the animation test, and though that was pretty slick. |

Do I spy a 3DBuzz animated modelling texture? It looks like it's coming along nicely. I can't wait to see it fully textured. Do you plan to animate it in 3D Studio before taking it into Swift? Does Swift support animations done in 3D max even..? I really wish my desktop was working. I can't do any modelling until it is fixed. But I can't fix it until my coursework is finished. *sob* |

I'll support this.. Sweet car Nurbs. Great challenge to model a car. I made a really ugly one for my Haloween card. Heres an attempt to model a Prowlie. I don't know whats the thing on its top... ![]() I used this in my Christmas E-card.. Really poor animated - but animated in max and exported through swift to flash... -Bo |

I'll shove the final picture of my phone up here, simply because I can't make anything new right now.
People may have missed it the first time, too. ![]() Looking at it now there are so many things I wish I'd done better. Top of the list would be the textures. So flat. |

Niceness Yembles!!!!
And yes that is an animated material technique that i had learned from 3dbuzz....Way better than max's X-ray mode..

Thanks Nurbsy
I agree too. First thing I do when I start a new model is to set up the texture. Funny how something so simple can be so useful.

Sorry about the double post. Here's a very basic rig/skin attempt of a cylinder (yes, I know. ;)). I gave it a strawberry texture and shoved three bones inside it, cutting into the geometry with the slice plane in order to produce more vertices around the joints. I then linked three dummies to the bones to use as rotatiion controllers. The animation can be found HERE. ![]() |

Wow Yembles....Where did you learn how to setup that dummy system? Those boxes are there to control the rig right? Can you tell us your resource? I'd be interested in learning that.. |

Yeah, those dummies affect the rig. At the moment they only work with rotation and scale, not translation. I got the basic idea from the rigging tutorial at http://www.3dquakers.com. I paid 15 dollars for it (7 quid 50) and I reckon it was worth it. It requires some extra research to understand some things and does NOT cover skinning (disappointing). You'll need some basic knowledge of how hierarchies work in 3d software. I learnt this from Jeff Lew's DVD which was DEFINITELY worth the 40 dollars I paid for it. You can get it at http://www.jefflew.com. |
