Well i'm no 3d pro (working on it) but I use it.....In fact i did an intro for a client that didn't end up using it because it was too unbandwidth friendly...Whatever...I got paid anyways....

Here's the model in ZBrush...

Posted Image

And here's the model in action in the finished product.....The sound sucks because i couldn't find any Dragonfly sounds so i had to use a fly :worry:

holy shit thats great nurbs!! it looks superb mate!! u cud have used a humming bird wing sound effect. the fly sound fx u used is a bit weird, its on and off. u cud have also made a humming noise in a sound program, and quieten it and make it louder in relation to the dragonfly's postion.

few questions:
is Zbrush hard to use? or animate with?
How does it compare to 3DSM?
This guy in the vid tutorial is modelling this fish like its a piece of clay, making parts extrude in or out by rolling the mouse over , instead of highlighting polygons etc...is this possible in 3DSM?
Animation wise, is it tricky.
Can it be integrated with any other programs, save out as 3DSM file types, or even export as vectors like swift?
How did u get the blur effect on ur wings of ur dragonfly?

im really interested in Zbrush now after watching that tut. great find Jemooky.

Thanks Jugglez! :D

ZBrush is somewhat difficult to use because of the interface...Once you know where all the necessary tools are, you're good to go....ZBrush uses things called Z spheres which is what you see in the pic...then you have to convert the Z Sphere model into a mesh object so you can sculpt it like you guys saw in that Angler fish vid....

3dsmax has a 3rd party sculpting tool that's similar to the one used in ZBrush but i forgot the name...It may be called 3d sculpt but im not sure....

You can export the model as a .obj file and import it into max but make sure it is a low poly version of it... ZBrush prides itself on allowing the average user to have a couple million poly's on the screen with minimal lag. Don't ask me how they do it cause i don't know...

The blur was done using Max's blur effect....I detached the wings from the body and just blurred those in the loop animation i made for them....

hehe looking great comlock, i'm a little late but mr.nurbs great work too! i love the Zbrush way for modeling i'm using it quite a while, it's really show you what is the future for 3d modeling and combining also traditional elements.
BTW i heard something about that soon there will be a major update for the program and there will be also an animation option in it, i'm really hope so :)

I thought about creating a flash about Shattered Galaxy, an online game I play but couldn't draw the units cause I didn't know how they would look from some angles. So I decided to try making a 3d model of them and using that. This is my first attempt in Maya of creating a Behemoth, a tank from the game

It's not too great but I'm learning so this was good practice

The shape is fine, but it looks like you've got quite a bit of messy geometry. You should post a non-mesh smoothed wireframe.

You should post a non-mesh smoothed wireframe.

I am puzzeled... How do I render a non-mesh smoothed wireframe? Or do you mean, not a render, but the model without any shades?

I think he means the stuff where you interpolate the shape by adding faces inbetween.

interpolate?

add faces inbetween what?

Man this is so confusing...

I'm learning how to edit NURBS now for the next unit, the pegasus, it's no picnic either

How did u do that? Was it with nurbs? Maya or 3ds?

I like the little hands but the nose should look bigger and "full"

Its in 3dstudio max. not nurbs. Boxmodeling\polygon modeling.
started with two spheres , and welded them together.

Then I cut, divided, extruded and moved alot of vertices around til I ended up with that...

Nice Arthur, but you've got some weird edges, mostly around the neck/top of the shoulder and down the midline. The arms and hands ought to be more chubby too. :fpbls: It's very cute, though. Are you going to make the eyes green?

In terms of modeling, I'm not a big fan of spheres... the two poles of the sphere were all the longitudinal lines meet tend to cause problems with texturing and deformation. Some people use them just fine, but I like cubes and cylinders.

Thanx. Yeah, Im gonna remove both the "north" and "south" pole and create new 4 sided polygons instead. And im gonna deform the hands so they are shaped like claws instead

And I havent gotten time to fix all the edges along the symetry line and between the head and neck yet. But thanks for the tips :fpbls:

yeah, and Ill adjust the trunk aswell Deboche

Hmmm, I've had 3DSMAX for ages and never actually used it. I must dig it up and get some tutorials.

Anyway, I'm loving all these images, but I especially LOVE the prowlie.

Oh, Nurbs, I can't see the Dragon fly animation. I click play and nothing happens. Is that just me? >_>

Ok I worked on this baby for two nights, it is my first decent piece of raster work (or so i think) that i have churned out of swift 3d. In case you do not recognise :worry: , it is a Les paul style guitar.

rough beginnings

a polished performance

I could not include the frets or strings because I think the program would have crashed.

Here is another animation I made whilst on work experience here. It is to be played whenever someone is bowled out in cricket at an indoor sports arena (on big plasmas)

BOWLED!!!

crit both to death if you like.

edit: you may want to shrink the window a bit for the guitar animations because they are raster and they were rendered smaller than the browser.

I may not be good (I've only got a crappy freebie from the 90's :D ) but i can make a cute little bunny! the picture has a ludicrously small file size which is pretty impressive (32.5kb!!! ) Posted Image

Nice stuff Krob. :)

The face looks good. I'd really love to see what the body might've been like...

Than animation looks great. Did you model, rig and animate it all yourself?
