thanks yembles! yeah i made it all myself i didnt use character studio or anything for the animation.. so that was where most of the work was in, dragging the bones and the character along the scene.. the models themselves are actually very simple though and the head-thing.. i first thought to make it some sort of humanoid.. but for some reason i thought that would be too "ordinary" i started thinking (and some rough work) on a 4-feeter body last week actually.. i might do them both if i feel up to it .. |

..*shrug* ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() criticize 'em all you like.. The second and third ones were for the same person, but different perspectives.. both of which taking place during the first sunrise of the planet. I'm hoping to eventually write a story about those two pictures/that world, but for now, I'm just getting a sense of what it looks like. Hopefully, this is in the right spot cause technically, terregen renders the pictures.. I'm just going with what Ang said so uh, any blame.. goes to her?

Has anyone here played BW2? You'd be surprised... EDIT: I have some screens here but they dont really show just how good the game looks. In the game, you are a god and this is a demonstration of one of the miracles http://www.freewebs.com/homem_mt_brasa/Ima...reen%200002.png http://www.freewebs.com/homem_mt_brasa/Ima...reen%200004.png http://www.freewebs.com/homem_mt_brasa/Ima...reen%200006.png |

Well, I thin that terragen could have a great use if you make your own landscape and use it as reference for a flash animation. Perhaps something like a LOTR.ish animation with journeys n stuff. |

jc, I just used default lighting. The 2d texture file is applied to the incandesence property in the circuit texture and I added a glow to it. To anyone who knows: in Maya, how do I create the image plane that I can use as a reference for modeling a character? |

its easy cheesy, make a plane align it in the view that you wish to use it. then in that specific view go to the redundant drop down "view" at the bottom theres a choice of image plane and then insert image. |

![]() I haven't posted here in ages.......last time I was here I was talking about an animation course I was taking......anyways, I'm in the industry now as a modeler with some animation experiance(small amount). This is a character I created in 3DS Max 8, the hair and fuhr works great with wind and the hands are dynamically rigged. (the rest is biped to keep it simple). I also use Maya 7. |

Just started working a bit in 3d with Swift3D and I made some simple stuff. Swift makes animation *moving spinning ect.* really easy. though its pretty crummy compared to most of the stuff here.
some other stuff i did from scratch: This an amulet of sorts. ![]() This sword. ![]() Thinking about making this my sig image, used webdings text and extruded it for the notes. ![]() And this neat bowl i did with the lathe tool, turned out nicely. Stuff i did with pre-made models from the interweb (mostly Sigs for other people, if you want one, msn or im me, and ill see what i can doos): http://www.freewebs.com/rick4922003/Drosig.gif http://www.freewebs.com/rick4922003/Psycho...DGif%2Ddone.gif This here>> was a scene i did with a bunch of pre made models, turned out pretty well.: http://www.freewebs.com/rick4922003/Dinner%20scene.jpg |

This may have been mentioned in this forum before, but i need to get on the "3d" train. I have swift 3d, and 3ds max 7, but everytime i pop em openi try out the tuts and end up getting frustrated and scraping the whole thing. Where is a good start for someone like me who may be a little overwhelmed with this three dimmensional stuff and a tad bit confusing tutorials? |

Well i started with the lathe tool and putting together random peices with that. I myself am just starting too, but the lathe tool semed the eaisiest to use... well to me. Anyways, mess around with that and go from there, making extrudes and then up to editing pre-made models (like on that ammulet I made, I took a skinny doughnout and moved it around to look like a leather neck band.... although that was my first time, I think it turned out pretty nicely.) But you dont need someone telling you what to make or do, messaround with the program, and find out whats what and whats not what. then just use waht you know to ttry and make what you want. I suggest you start with Swift 3D because its just a bit more user friendly imo. |

The learning curve for 3D tends to be quite steep, but one you're over the hump it's pretty much smooth sailing. Don't give up; try looking for seminars being conducted at local schools and colleges so you can have the hands-on assisstance of someone who knows the program. You're also free to PM me or Yembles if you have trouble (I have Maya, Yembles has Max). (I recommend gMax as a freeware 3D software) |

Oh fiddlesticks. THANKS FOR RUINING PASSOVER, AUTODESK!!!
 Well, Maya Unlimited Student Edition is only $360... I know Blender is another freeware package, but I despise the user interface. You could try it if you want, because some heratics seem to like it. |

I was starting to learn Blender last week by using the video tutorials on the blender site. The VTM's themselves are quite... boring (especially if you're used to the 3D Buzz ones
) But hey, I can allready move around and know some rendering, material-functions.Blender is actually quite powerfull, it even comes with it's own videocomposing/editing suite (!). Done nothing this week, I feel way too lazy <_< |

Tankie Angie, but i already have a copy of 3dsmax, (got it from a friends bro whos majoring in animation) Its very, big, i havent tried the tuts yet becuase the thing damn near crashes my system each time i load it. Which is wierd considering im running a AMD Athalon 2.0 64-bit processor and a 7800 gt for a vid card. And 2 gigs of XSI ram!!! My machine should be eating this program for breakfast but its lagging like hell. |
