since the globe's reflection is closer, the water ripples woud be more apparent. I would suggest taking the wave filter or something to the reflection of earth. |

![]() I actually dreampt this place up a few nights ago. I didn't get it down as good as I'd like too. The dream actually took place in daytime, and didn't look as urban as the image looks. |

It wasn't really my dream but it is the craziest one that I've ever hear so have a read of job 41 and tell me what you think. And, if anyone's game, have a go at drawing it... |

![]() So I dreamt about this Imp (the last of it's kind) who was banished to a world of destruction and hate, and was sitting on a tree stump contemplating whether or not to take it's own life and end it's misserable existance. Before I woke up, I remember it's hair was catching on fire from the candle it had lit, sitting behind him on the tree stump. Pretty nutty huh? (hope I didn't offend any one with this dipressing story but it is only a story and has nothing to do with me personally)

Looking good stalefish...er... flesh. Is that digital? (I really like the hair catching on fire. Cool detail) The turnout for these are really crappy lately, even for the daily sketch thread. Of course, I'm not one to talk

Yeah, I'm not sure what reason is. I is that people aren't liking the subjects? Are the due dates too soon? I'm a little discouraged. I'd like some feedback before I assign a new one. I'm also open to suggestions on topics. Help a brotha out! BTE, Stale, that image is killer. It portrays a wonderful sense of the eery mood. Great job! |

Tordeck(I think) and I are were kind of liking the ideas of doing storyboards or concept art or whatever, but that's only because we're both involved in projects, and we'll need some practice with those. I can't put my finger on why there's the sudden decline in interest. A theory might be a bit of an overload of activity before. The sketch thread, the doddle com. thread and the monthly comps were all active at the same time, and maybe everybody just got pooped. The activities are fine, I think. Maybe the last two have put a bit too much pressure on having finished pieces? Like, the moving of an inanimate object one had an alright turnout because it was pretty simple. Maybe we need more short activities like that. Something people can do in a quick sitting. I've been thinking of ways to get people more involved. I've been batting the idea of an award system for a while. Not necessarily physical prizes, but even just like a little 'stamp' to but in your signature to enhance your status among the members. Say, you 'win' an illustration activity or the monthly comp or anything like that, you get to put one in your sig. I'm not sure about any of this, but it's just getting me down that nobody is participating (Like I said, I'm not one to talk), so I've been giving it some though. |

Those are some good ideas. Though if I were to do the award thing, I'd probably make longer durations like two weeks or something.... |

Well, I've done enough complaining about other people's lack of work. Time to buckle down and do something of my own! TA-DAH! This is the dream I explained on the first page. The mood is actualy a LOT different than what my original dream was, but this is my interpritation of it from my current view point. (It was actually extremely influenced by some of the alien landscapes from Calvin and Hobbes)

Wicked Jemooky! And thanx for the compliments guys, and hey Humble, I think the only reason things are slow right now may be the fact that the school year for some of us is coming to an end and we're either swamped with work (like me) or some people have exams to study for dude. Other wise the activities are great and I really appreciate them and hope to participate more in the future. I wish I had more time to work on last months animation but this month I will be finishing school and should have more time.(Not to mention I actually start my first animation program in May) and I plan to be on the board more often in the coming months. Maybe I'm way off target, but it sounds logical to me, school gets nuts at the end. ![]() P.S. The painting above was done on a 24 by 30 sheet of coated paper and I used a sponge and brushed to paint it with acrylic paints.

Ah what the hell..................![]() This is the "big painting" I mentioned on the first page of this thread, I forgot that I originally promised to post this so here it is (I know I double submitted but the thread could use it!) It is on 24 by 32 canvas in acrylic, the lightning and background were airbrushed and the character and cacoon and branch were all done by hand with brushes, the original looks way better of course, but I had to snag a quick pic before submitting this becasue it might be going up in the Niagara Art Gallery. Enjoy, this was inspired by the visions I get between awake and sleep before bed time (you know when you're about to pass out)

yah, its Monday so a new one should be on its way. I think doing character sketches would be a good idea. Not to sound rude but the last 2 weeks on these have been strange. I mean the one on someone you hate was good, but Hard, and the dream one was also out there. maybe less complex ones ( not to say they arnt cool ). The first one was fun because it was simpler. Hell I went over board and did 5 of them. People ( at least some people ) are going " Crap, I cant do that ... I'll wait till next week " next week comes by and they go " crap .. I cant do that I'll do next weeks " ( that's what happened to me at least ) so if they where simpler people would say " yah I got some time, that might be fun. I cant wait for next weeks ". I mean you have school, then your own projects, then the comp. you just have very little time to do anything else. I mean I enjoyed the first one. ( hell I even turned it in for class and got an A+ on it ) so alls I'm saying is that if they where simpler then more people would do them... understand? |

Maybe they could start easy, and become more and more difficult as time goes on. Maybe even set it up like a competition as people climb a ladder, but that'll be difficult to organize. I'll think of a few ideas and post any if they're any good. (I wish I lived in the world in my painting) |

that would be cool , something thats not as long as the montly, but will prolly be as compeditive...
i think i might have an idea, i know a lot of people (including my self) have a series or something they are working on. being the lazy slop I am, i have no motivation, maybe the same for the rest of you, but maybe you couuld have us do stuff like your Concepts for lucid and stuff, like different face expressions, body language, hell it doesnt even have to be for a series, did that make any sense at all?

Okay, okay! Geeezo!
I promise you'll have a new one this Sunday. I'm just now getting over my depression for getting beat out by a fuckin Stick Movie for the week on NG. <_< That and my submission is slowly but surely working its way off the Top 50 List. Anyways, be patient and start thinking about characters, because we'll be doing proper concept work and we're gonna make it so it's portfolio ready.
