Strings of 'Re' and 'ruh' can be difficult to pronounce, and a phrase with many 'R' in it can begin to sound like some kinda dog with a lazy bark, or a car that just won't start. Try saying the following words aloud:

lrr trr
(sing high)

now this phrase:

'dr rr lrr trr r dr rr rrl rrt'
(I sang high and I spoke low)

Notice that in order to make each 'R' distinguishable from the last, you need to slow down and put a very definite vowel sound between them. The solution is to use a substitute sound that means the same thing.

The following may only be used in speech. It isn't a rule, it's just a 'use it if you need to' thing..

In Sarus speech only, the 'K' sound is interchangeable with any second 'R' in a double 'R'. i.e. 'rr' becomes 'rk'

drr : drk
trr : trk

Our earlier phrase becomes:
'dr rk drk trk r dr rkl rkt'

Once again, note that this is only for speech. drr may be pronounced 'drk' but it should be written 'drr'. In colour, it would remain :d::r::r: and in numbers it would be 122.
