I'm working with a slightly outdated book, Flash MX Most Wanted: Effects and Movies (the one Adam wrote in) and this damn Flash 6 code won't run properly in Flash 7 unless I make it run in Flash player 6. Actionscript 1.0/2.0 doesn't matter.
In flash 7, I see only 2 clips on the stage. I think it's only the top-left and bottom-right ones. Can anyone point out why this doesn't work in Flash 7? EDIT: Cool, I figured it out all by myself! Gotta declare that i variable as zero. As not to waste topics, I'll post here once I encounter my next Actionscript delema. That should take around 5 minutes. <(^_^)> |

This is your code... //this generates a 6x6 grid of movieclips made a movieclip name "polygon" xMax = 6; yMax = 6; xDist = 40; yDist = 40; xCenter = Stage.width/2; yCenter = Stage.height/2; for (y=0; y<yMax; y++) { for (x=0; x<xMax; x++) { clip = attachMovie("polygon", "p"+i, i++); clip._x = (x-(xMax-1)/2)*xDist+xCenter; clip._y = (y-(yMax-1)/2)*yDist+yCenter; } } Possibly it might have something to do around the clip area... If you have mx 2004 then try this. //this generates a 6x6 grid of movieclips made a movieclip name "polygon" xMax = 6; yMax = 6; xDist = 40; yDist = 40; xCenter = Stage.width/2; yCenter = Stage.height/2; for (y=0; y<yMax; y++) { for (x=0; x<xMax; x++) { var clip:MovieClip = attachMovie("polygon", "p"+i, i++); clip._x = (x-(xMax-1)/2)*xDist+xCenter; clip._y = (y-(yMax-1)/2)*yDist+yCenter; delete clip; } } |

in your publish setting you can set you flash to run on just about any flash player. so you can just set the values to be in actionscript 1.0 and to work on player 6. you would only have some defferinces in the interface then. so you would not have to miss with teh code in the book, just fall it. |
