I just moved houses, this is the story of the house I lived in prior to this one. The previouse owner of the house was an old woman, and when we bought the house from her, she only moved down the street. So we asked her why she would sell her house if only to move 5 houses away. She claimed that the house was haunted, and that the ghost of a woman tried to strangle her in bed one night. Ofcourse we checked out the history of the house, curious. The house was about three century's old. This is what we found out: During the american revoluition, betweent the Americans and the British, a very important family lived in the house. When the British were passing through Connecticut (where i live), towards Massachusetts, they wanted to capture this family, more specifically the father. The family knew they couldn't escape the house and run off somewhere else, the state was swarming with the British army. So the family hid themselves in the house. They built a secret bunker and hid in it while the british looked for them, thinking they would leave after they couldn't find them. Unfortunately, the British decided that the family must have gone into hiding elsewhere and would return to the house eventually, so they camped out in the house. This meant the family couldn't leave the bunker, as they would fall into capture and were forced to stay in the bunker, without food, until they left. Eventually they starved to death. This is what happened when we occupied the house: As previously stated, the house was very old, and thus lacked air conditioning. In the summer it gets very hot here, so we decided to install an air-conditioning system. As we were in a cupboard on the 2nd floor, we found a wall that didn't seem as solid as the others. We knocked it down, and inside was a staircase. At the end of the staircase built around the chimney, was a concrete room about one meter wide in each direction, and lying in the room, were three skeletons, a man, a woman, and a child. This is a true story. |
