Okay, so it seems like some people don't like the current use of Daily Sketch Thread as a "catch-all-art" basket, which is understandable. So, that's where this thread comes in. The rules are simple. Show us what you've been working on, whether it be traditional or digital, 2d or 3d. Post your progress for some friendly feedback. This way, we keep Daily Sketch for actual sketches and we still have a gathering place for all those miscellaneous works. So, whether it be poster, 3d models, paintings or sculpture, you can post it here for critiques. Hopefully it goes well and to get things started I'll post a small work I've been doodling in my "spare time" this weekend (which was approx 30-40 minutes - stupid 4th of July). ![]() It wouldn't be a "long term" piece except for the fact that I've had ziltch time to work on it. If you haven't guessed it's "Mega Munch". All done is Sketchbook using airbrushes. I've been trying to find ways to push Sketchbook to be more than my "sketch app". I've saw awesome shit come out of that Alias Contest and I want to be able to do the same with this app myself. So far, I'm still finding it limiting, but, hopefully I can ween myself off a dependency on PS or Painter. I really like how "light" an app Sketchbook is and hope it intergrate it more in my "real" work. Anywho, feel free to crit the hell out of it and let's see what you chaps are up to!

Good idea Humble ![]() Here's something I've been working on. It hasn't gotten much feedback in the topic I posted and I might as well post it here. It's a character design for a project I want to work on. ![]() I converted in to flash and smoothed it out, but I had to shrink it down a lot to make it look decent and it's still a little messed up. |

Ego: Awesome considering the time constraints. boundless: Creepy. What's with the rings through his shirt? tordeck: HAHAHAHAHAHA*shot* Seriously though, a bit ruff but still pretty sweet. Try to make it seem like something scary is coming before the leaf-surfer comes in. Me: Minor character redesign. I aim to draw him at least 20 times before I work on any other projects with him (these are drawings 6 through 10). ![]() I scanned it slightly crooked and it's driving me crazy. <(>_<)> Crits appreciated.

Don't Laugh? Why the hell would anyone do that. This is fucking extreme. (pardon the french) I'm going to go through the movie again and just list of good things and bad things. -The tip of the leaf on the play button could be a bit cleaner. -Nice Title page - Kick ass flying animation. -You might be able to add in a few more layers of scrolling trees (scrolling at different rates), including trees in the foreground. -The bird flies off the screen too slowly. -Move from tree downwards and to the right starts to suddenly. Try easing in. - As the camera pans, it suddenly cuts downwards. Try panning the scene using a curved motion guide. - It almost seems like the rat guy is making the "wahoooo" noise. I'd suggest playing the noise first, then the squirrel is shocked, THEN he starts to look around. -You should make one long shot of yikkles riding the leaf (have the camera focused on yikkles for at least a few seconds), just to establish what's going on. I think that sequence really needs a visual clue like that. Plus it'll give the movie some extra length -LOVE the animation at the end. Keep up the solid work man. I'm just being nitpicky about all those crits, but most of them are easy fixes. |

i'm working on this, a shadow and light simulator, really simple design, even simpler ideas. I don't even know why the hell I did it but it took forever to script each on and off button in in each frame to its corresponding frame. Its a pointless animations so please dont give me too much crap. I'll bet everyone is about to tell me simpler ways I could have done it. it still has a lot of bugs to fix so crits would be nice. |

There are a quite a f ew simpler ways for going about it. But this is from the guy who made an entire working RPG battle engine using only gotoAndPlay(); :lol: It looks great.
No problem.
Oh, I'm sure everyone's sick of that by now. I might post some of my backgrounds in that illustration activity thread. Kwarp- It's nice and all, but it's really just some spikes, a ball, and some feet. |

Which is exactly why I'm working with him. I'm trying to do some real animation and this character is the perfect place to start. Besides simple characters are always the best ones. Look at Rayman, Sonic, or Bomberman. Just circular bodies with limbs. |

Ah, what the heck. Better than making a mess of the sketch thread. I'll make this post in orange so the links are easier to see (plus it reminds me of Mac and Cheese )I am working on a movie called "Rice", which is a very simple story with an action scene which is meant to be taken over the top. It's a mindless animation with the sole purpose of improving my animating, storyboarding, animatic-ing, and directing skills. I won't be showing off too much, just some of the behind the scenes things. So you've all seen this piece o turd. I don't like the way he looks in this one, but it's pretty close to what you'll be seeing in the movie. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v507/sma...olourswatch.png And this is a portion of the storyboard. You've all seen this too. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v507/small_lard/comp.swf Here's the animated version. Low sound quality and snow-men ninjas included! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v507/sma...ttyanimatic.swf I was working on the final look of the ninja here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v507/sma...rd/bigninja.swf http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v507/small_lard/ninjas.swf Working on look of the surroundings: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v507/small_lard/try2.swf small animation sequence: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v507/sma...ypositions2.swf And, because I'm feeling particularily generous, I'll show ya guys my intro scene animatic, which I've been keeping mostly secret for some reason. Let me know what you think of the text at the start. I've been thinking of ditching it, but lots of people really like it. I might replace it with a brackenwood-esque introduction rather than a quote. http://www.testsite100.bravehost.com/animaticfull.html AND NOW! A look into the past!!! Before I knew how to animate. Before I was blessed by this helpful board. Before I had a wacom. Before Rice was Rice, before Jemooky was Jemooky, before time was time! http://www.testsite100.bravehost.com/scene1b.html I want your harshest of crits, please (not on that last one
)

But still there more complex than a Kirby character. Hows about you try some enemies for your character. Keep it up. --- *Aimed at KWarp* |
