About a year ago I submitted a movie called The Watering Can to newgrounds. It was kinda lost in all the submissions for Picco day (perfect timing on my part :P) but the reviews it did get were purdy good. But most only commented on the humour part of it and not the animation. So now I'm making a sequel to it called... "The Balloon" which I really want to top the first one - especially animation wise.

"The Good:

Some funny jokes.
Some good sounds.

The Bad: Add a background when he's walking, it seems like he is just wobbling in air.
Credits go on for way to long.

The Ugly:
Charecter Design

All and all, good effort! :)

Hope I didn't offend you or hurt your feelings, just trying to be helpful. :)"

and

"i liked the intro and outro. coz u chose some quirky good music for it.

altho it had me thinking i was gonna watch a neat fbf animated cartoon. gotta say i was a bit let down by it all.

the plain white background idea coulda worked just fine.... but somehow didnt.

but good luck with your future productions.

ps. u maybe wanna find some decent and more original sound fx too."

So I've put a skip button on the intro, I'm upping the graphics (ie shadows) and the animation. I'm keeping the character design because I intentionally did it bland to make them more interesting as animated characters but looking back I agree the animation is way too simplistic to make this clear.

Before I end this absurdly long post a few capital letters:

THIS IS NOT FINISHED (CRAP BALLOON NO SHADOWING ETC), I'VE DECIDED THIS IS GOING TO BE COMPLETEY REDONE WHEN I GET BACK MY TABLET PC (POSES ARE A BIT WEAK AND UN-SMOOTH). OH AND INGNORE THE BALLOON, IT'S FIRST TO BE REDONE :P

Here it is :)

Crits plz ^_^

Lol, I gave the watering can a 5 on newgrounds, funny, funny stuff! :P

The balloon thing is funny, but the ball could do with more spring when it bounces. Make it get squashed a little when it's hit or bounces. apart from that, nice. Wether you want a background or not is up to you but try one and see if it looks better or not anyway. Gradients can work for lots of things, but proper backgrounds are nice too :D

Thnx Sticky Wicky :P I was going to do the ball squash and stretch but the sound effect sounded like that of an inflated ball. But I agree it would certainly look better :)

Anyone else got any more crits?

I know how to draw (yay), and I've been doodling in flash for some time now, so I decided to make a real animation. I made a rough sketch of what happens in the animation, and I'm smoothing the animation out right now, but I just couldn't wait to get some feedback :bing:

Anyways, here it is.

Well seeing as its a roughed sketch animation. My personal opinion on it would be it is really good. Congratulations s on an awesome piece. Hope to see how you will finish it up.

Take your time if anything! Dont rush but then again it really matters on how much effort you put into your work. Any who good job plastic cup. Hope I help if not there are plenty of other members I can think of on the top of my head that would be must suited to give you some better feed back.

Started off as a tiny little sketch that I did whilst listening to Over the Hills and Far Away by Led Zeppelin, a little while later Ive ended up with this

Over the Hills and Far Away (Photoshop + Mouse)

Still want to do something more with the sun, add some detail like grass etc and maybe add a road. I also want to change the foreground tree a lot (looks a bit plastic wrapped), anyone got any tips?

Seeing how Im still very much learning this might go unfinished for a long while, but nevertheless here it is.

Thanks Dan, here's a new version.

I've tried to keep it simple, added a lot more contrast in the sky to get rid of the wishy washy look. I realised what was wrong with the tree and fixed that, I've also added a provisional road.

One thing still bugging me though is that the light around the sun looks a little too far to the right but I'm not sure if that's just because I've been looking at it for so long.

You can try blurring the sprayed thing a little, or make it "wet" (it drips down a bit after spraying)

Thanks PlasticCup, ye I made a few tests using the Flash 8 filters and I think it came out pretty well, only problem being that I can't export movieclips to video so i'll have to try the ye olde photoshop method which I've never done before (I posted a thread in the Animation Illustration section).

Do you have to export each and every frame one by one or can u export it as a PNG sequence, blur it and then put it back into Flash

Well here I am, haven't been on long, for ages actually.

Ok, to point, wanted to pick up drawing again, didn't have a lot of time during the summer, work-work-work

Ok, THIS, is my attempt at art on comp, PS CS2 and my precious logitech G5 mouse are used.

It's supposed to be a demon thing tossing crystalised darkness shards liek daggers at you....

PS: He's supposed to have TWO opposable thumbs per hand, still trying to figure out how to draw those.

PPS: And yes, i know he's a bit...stretched out, I seem to almost finish the drawing like that and in the end use the transform tool to "shrink" him into proportions.

Whoa danimator, ease up on the saturated colours.

Saturated colours even in cartoons are used rarely, as they dont appear in life often.
You may be animating but all lighting effects come into play still even if it is just flat tones.

Hello everybody.
A lot time that I don't write anything.
But, this time, I come back to show you my last work. Here I thing everybody can see a lot thing that I learn to in this forum. :P
But that is traditional animation and mix with Flash Animation. I hope like everybody. :D

Bomb Love Bomb

I made this short film in Germany, thanks to a subention or stipendium or Scholarship (I don't know exactly which is the traduction to english, because is not exactly a scholarship but... well)
Was Four mounth to work only in my project and in my idea. And the Firma give you almoust thing that you need to made it, and you have the chance to speak with a big profesionals of the animation.
I think is a good idea in Europe for the animation businesses, only the problem is... that not every years there are good promotion and there aren't goods professionals which can help you. But... well.
So. I hope like every body.

Looks great monkey, Im not an animator or anything so I cant really offer much of a critique but maybe you should try doing each character a different colour/shade to better distinguish them?

Danimator, i mean change the colours completely.

Saturated colours are way to glaring to the eyes, and draw to much attention, and is much worse when all the colours are saturated.

If your not sure what saturation means.
"In color theory, saturation refers to the intensity of a specific hue. It is based on the color's purity; a highly saturated hue has a vivid, intense color, while a less saturated hue appears more muted and grey. With no saturation at all, the hue becomes a shade of grey. Saturation is one of three coordinates in the HSV color space."

Or in other words in the colour slider move it towards the grey parts.

Very nice, make the guitar a Les Paul Jnr and it'd be perfect!

More seriously I can't fault the design but the position on the shirt bothers me a little, it looks a little too small and placed too high up.

Here's my idea for a new layout, hope you don't mind.
