Looks awesome Ciggu! I love the way you showed the volume and masses beneath the fabric with so little lines. And I also like her right arm alot.

Her left foot looks maby a little too twisted to her left side (bending outwards to much)
Maby something like this?
Posted Image
I might have rotated the foot to much inwards. Something inbetween would have looked nice maby...

I'm posting this to help clear up a few things about tangents, since I actually paid attention in high school algebra. :P
Posted Image
Tangent: A tangent line is a line (of potentially infinite length) that intersects with a circle (or an ellipse, arc, etc.) at only one point at a 90-degree angle to the center of the circle.
Chord: If it intersects more than once and without dividing the circle along it's diameter, it is a chord.
Weird is just weird.

Okay, a few quick explanations ;)

This is a pinup, so only white background for that, when she'll be on the green and brown dark backgrounds, she herself will stand out and the sword wont be so much of a centerpiece.
Her pale complex is somewhat a part of the fact that I rather dislike overly tan people, it doesn't look natural X3

I'm glad the slight masculinity show enough through, since it's a big part of her character and yes, this is indeed for animating.
I had to touch on the contrast in Photoshop though, it was a bit too ... mellow. Anyway.

If you guys have any interest in it.

It is a dragon, and he's based of a T-rex :) My brain and I always want to make things make sense, so dragons are descendants of dinosaurs. Hm...

He's just a baby dragon, though :)

Hello, Ciggu! :bfoot:

Your work is very welcome here in the forums! That is one fine piece of animation you've done on young Beccan, there.
Seems you've have a keen sense the reptile form! Finer yet are the backgrounds in your artwork. Truly breathtaking. :o
Care to share a little more about this flash project you're working on? (cool tree logo, by the way.)

Awesome, Caveking-- this Featherhead fellow is most uproarious.
I especially like his white evil-scientist lab coat! ^_^

Hey everyone.

Been doing not a lot recently. Though I did get some sculpey for christmas, along with some modelling tools so I did a couple of mini-bust thingies.

No armature, just solid clay. Forgive the photos. I don't have the best digital camera in the world. :)

Edit: Omg these pics are horrible. I'll get better ones soon. I promise.

You can say that Yembles. I thinking its some typ of beast or creature. My buds here on the other hand think its a latex, well the last one. Its all good.

Hey im no sculpter but I like the way how its going. Im into the whole fangs and beast look, its good cuz I can make out the teeth and tounge. The mouth and face is coming along great. I can make out the bone structre around eyes which is really nice. A better pic would help but im just going base on the first shot and the one before the last pic.

Hey Malakym, I just noticed something about your sketch. The sword in her left hand looks like it's bending at the base of the blade.

hey yembles those look pretty awesome o_O
try holding your camera a bit farther from the figures its amazing how much sharper it can get the pictures :P
when i have to "scan" something i hold my (cheap) camera at about 30cm

and malakym.. nothing much too say about your drawing ;) .. nice :P (except indeed the blade maybe)

i think i explained the blade already. <_<

for sketches layer composition is pretty simple. i scan in the sketch as a greyscale. then i change the image to RGB. i duplicate the bg layer and set the new layer on mulitply. this darkens the light pencil lines. i make a clear layer above that one and use the polygon tool and paintbucket. every coloring i did on the sketch was made with the polygon tool and the paint bucket. then, i make a new layer set on multiply at about 30% opacity. i equip my paint bucket with "darker blue" and shde in the picture. i make a new layer, set it to lighten at 30% opacity. i load select the color layer (ctrl + click the layer on the layer menu) and load deselect (ctrl + alt + click the layer on the menu) the shading layer. i switch to a gradient and choose a light color and a dark color, i make the gradient on the latest layer. that's basically it.

not to shabby malakym, the one thing i noticed at first glance was that she looks off balance, id skew her torso to the right a bit (fromt he waist up) to make her seem a little more on balance.

hmm well I was inspired by kib's turtorial for backgrounds, so I tried to work on some sort of canyon...thing

I'm not done, but you can see a little bit of my progress

http://photobucket.com/albums/d161/anvilfo...ent=Canyon2.jpg

next I'll do the background of the landscape as well as the sky and then working on reflections from the lit up rocks

I'll try to post the rest of it as I finish.. hope I have time to get around to it

Good start there, w.

You've got a definite horizon and I can see you are wrapping the contour lines around the form. Watch the verticals, unless you want the spires leaning on purpose.
Posted Image

You are doing a good thing where your colours meet by pulling them into each other a bit. Now use that to show detail form. When colours cross over into areas of other colour they get a chance to act and show form. You've already picked out the colours so put 'em to work for you.
Posted Image

The main thing working against you at the moment is the staging. What are we looking at here? The shapes are working horizontally, flat across the picture plane and aren't creating much depth yet. Let's go back to a simple horizon line and draw in some lines going to a single vanishing point. We are thinking about showing depth here; a sense of place.
Posted Image

Now add some "canyon-like" lines following those straight lines. I'm thinking about canyon walls here and the wavy shapes can become whatever rock formations I can make out of them.
Posted Image

Now wrap in some more contour lines following the concepts we discussed before. Those curves flatten out as they near the horizon line and then invert on the other side of it. And they point back to the vanishing point, just like the ones we drew in the last step. Hey! A canyon!
Posted Image

But wait. You were making some cool rock spires in your canyon, so let's go back a couple of steps and do that instead of the canyon walls. I'm keeping them more or less vertical (thinking about the gravity that helped form them) and the heights more or less along the guidlines. Of course they could be any size, but we want to have the perspective working for us here, so I'm making them smaller as they go back into the picture plane.
Posted Image

Not dramatic enough? How about we drop the floor out. Just point all the contour lines back towards our single vanishing point and suddenly we've got an eagle's eye view of the canyon floor.
Posted Image

Now we've roughed out an interesting view we can go at it with all the other rules of colour, etc and make an engaging BG for some interesting animation. Just looking at this, I'm thinking "ambush the smugglers" or "sniper on Mars" or "shooting womprats in Beggar's Canyon back home"... Um, I mean... uh...

Looking foward to what you come up with next, w. Hope this helps.

Switched image hoster to ImageShack after Comlock kindly pointed out that some people can't see the images I've been posting. I don't know what the problem is. Can those with difficulty see my site (ikedabarry.com) at all?

Should I re-submit any of the previous pic-heavy posts?

Character design. I still don't have him right because he needs to look noble and graceful in one scene, and gruff, rude, and impatient in the next scene.

Edit: Does he remind you of anyone? I didn't use any reference, nor am I a fan of fantasy art, but I have a feeling I've seen him before...

He reminds me a bit of Preed:

As far as the facial fatures go, anyway.....and maybe a bit of the ears too.
