What sort of weather are you going for? Because the second one feels like it's overcast - if that's the case, you might want to look into some shadows on the mountains. Oh and you're using a radial gradient there, maybe have a go at a standard linear gradient?

I'm not really the person you should be getting advice from though so I'll refer this to someone who actually knows what they're talking about lol

G'night :)

I've got a couple of shots that I've been working on today. I've been driving myself crazy with these and am finding it hard to take a step back and anaylse what works and what doesn't.

What do you guys think?

Hey Neyals,

Good work so far. You've got some colouring and shapes suggesting very different depths.

Watch out for little negative spaces that confuse the eye (like the gap in the bushes right at the L edge of the pic).

There's a ton of detailed info in this thread on how to get your BGs to really create a sense of depth. Some of the ref pics were removed because of ©, but all the how-to stuff is there. Scroll down for even more on the same topic.

Hope it helps.

The lazer comes from the bunny. That's the dig. With this big cannon on his back, people will jump to the conclusion that the cannon is the weapon. In reality, tis the bunny that should be most feared. Magical and deadly.

Is the bunny excretions explosive.
Just an idea.

My piece I am working on is a reflection on the current conflict in the Gaza Strip were recently two young Palestinien children were shot dead by Israeli soldiers. The first was a teenager throwing rocks. The second was a young girl who merely wandered from her home and got too closed to the border. I guess without guns my piece wouldn't make sense.

This isn't some glorified gangsta film or an elbows and asshole shoot em up.

lmao, good point juggles... grrr! hehe

Erm, yeah, basically I made the outlines and then created two symbols. I then colours both of them seperately.

Lol, it took a while, but technically I did 2 drawings at once

I first tried adjusting the colours, but it didn't really work very well :yfok:

Erm, lol juggles, well... i made this for the MoTM thing, but by the time i finished it, you had already won. LOL... but here it is:

Hey guys, I don't really post that often but I decided to throw in a character either my friend or I plan on making in 3D. Just have a front view right now but the shape of the character is pretty simple. So I don't know if a side view is even nesscary.

Side view is ALWAYS necessary, especially if the character is round but has a wide face like that. It will also help you decide where to put the hair points in space. And I want to know how long his feet are. A side view will take you twenty minutes and save you six hours of headache.

Love the design! I'd make his shoulder/top-of-the-thigh bumps bigger than the elbow/knee bumps so there's less symmetry. Maybe experiment varying the sizes of the hands and feet., but I love it as a whole. Very appealing.

Yeah I know about how essential side views can be, I was just being lazy, meaning to get to it. I post a more complete character layout later. Hopefully with some facial gestures as well. I'm doing this on my own and I'm already busy but gotta have some original ideas inbetween my classes.

There was a Wonder Woman Drawing Jam over at Drawingboard.org. Well, I'm not a comic person or much of a "real" superhero guy, but I started thinking about how retarded a design the classic WW is. A comic-phile at work was telling me about the "amazon woman" character she has.

Anyway, I farted around a bit, being very liberal and not respectful of classic comic lore. So, here she is so far, probaby won't finish, but who knows?

Umm Humble she put her past behind her when she was left by the amazons to join the league of super heroes, so she would really embrace her amazon roots when she is fighting crime in the series. but she goes back to meet her mother in the death of superman min seri..... I'm gonna shut up now.

Looks cool Dave, do some pics of lucid.

Beautiful costume. Like a cross between Pocahontas and the Aztek girl from Road to Eldorado.

I'm sure there's a perfectly sound evolutionary reason for the proportions, but I can't help but think this :)

Man, I knew some one would do that. Look, I've literally never read a WW comic in my life. I just hate the little miss america shit she always has goin'.

haha I know man, and trust me I like your costume better. As well as her weapons piss me off.... I mean really a lasso of truth, whats that going to do grab an enemy

I hear that ;)

There are six wacky Frank Miller pics of her here worth looking at. He's obviously playing with proportion a fair bit.

Tordeck: Weapon? Yeah, I don't know. But I've always imagined that lasso could be uh... a compelling tool of... uh... coersion.

I've said too much.
