ah, Thanx Kib!
Thanx for noticing, because I didnt see it.
What's even worse is that the front shoot that comes before that scene looks like this:
Posted Image
So the pose I made on him was realy way off

I should have probably drawn it more like this on the side view. Maby pushed it even more.
Posted Image

And I'll use your "rider's slouch" pose on the slower bikescenes at the and of the movie. So thank you for that one=)

Btw. yes, he's supposed to look to small for the bike, and that scene last for less than a half second. But I might change it anyway when I finish all the other scenes.

You're welcome, Comlock! :D

I see from the front shot how his pose is. That makes more sense. He's kind of eagerly racing to get somewhere, is he? Driving agressively?

I like the way his eyes are down level with the handlebars (more aerodynamic!) and the way his elbows are up level with his face in the front pose. From the side, though, his arms would cover his face so you have to work that one out a bit!

From your "pushed" poses I like the Left one more. Lots of intention there. If you want to match the front pose to it, you could possibly just put his head on a layer above the handle bar layer, making it closer to the camera? Like he's really leaning in to the action/wind/etc.

But if the shot is only very short, as you say, you have to figure out if it really needs tweaking.

Good luck! :)

Not bad for a first. Look at all the awful black and white stick figure movies that get blammed on Newgrounds... several times an 'artist.'

What I will suggest you do is:

--Make solid clouds. They're easier to manipulate and look cleaner, too. Later on when you're using filters and whatnot, you can try the misty ones again.

--Try to emulate acceleration. I only recently got the gist of it, but adding a sense of gravity helps enormously. Gravity looks like this when an object is falling, or roughly thereabouts:

0 <---Begin here
0

0

0

0

0

0 <----Terminal velocity, or the fastest it can fall

0

0

0 <----End

Although, typically it should reach terminal velocity at about halfway down.

--Finally, try adding some fragments and earth chunks flying about to the explosion. Make the impact have feeling--if it's particularly devestating, make the whole screen shudder either with tweens or with the vCam, which you should download posthaste.

Animation.

Yeah I haven't posted in a while. I made this for a weeklie over at the Synj forums about a person or object shaking another person/object viciously, but dunno if I should finish.

enjoy, chaps.

Actually, It usually takes 14 seconds to reach terminal velocity.

Different weight has a different terminal velocity, I was told. Usually, for animation's sake, it's just easier to have it reach terminal velocity at about halfway. Nobody's going to look at it and say "HAY UR FIZIX R TEH RONGG!! LOLOMGWTFBBQPIE!!!1"

haha thanks i understood the falling but everything else lost me (all i know how to do is pencil, paint and add keyframe) it was mianly an experiment for me to see how much i can actually do so far. Tweening? V-cam? i couldnt figure out how to make the clouds misty either... i am an extreme newbie to flash

If anyone gets the chance, can they take a peek in the: "Can I get some opinions/advice?" topic. I'm starting on my first (real) flash movie and I've already submitted a few animation tests for review. Opinions, criticism, and advice are all wlecome!
Thank you,

Pillow: You are definatley improving with your drawing ability, but here's some crits for you:
Try to keep the upper and lower arms about equal lenght.

My example is'nt realy that good either, but it could help you getting more on the right track.

The middle ground is going to be water with a reflection, I need help with the water and reflection. I don't want a perfect reflection though and can't figure out how to go about distorting it to look realistic.

Doublecheck those chest-pelvis connection and proportions they're all funky right now.
Might be me, but her breasts feel "stretched out" giving the impression her chest is really wide.

oo that has an FF feal to it. I;m back from the drawing board and with improvements! Posted Image
The shadow on the face looks funny should i just lighten the colour and add features instead? It's still not finished just getting the basics done before i have to edti a whole picture and ruin it (which would be annoying)

edit: wow i just looked at the 2 pics side by side huge difference!

looking really good fenrir.

i think her right bicep (our left) is maybe a bit too thin in comparison to her forearm and maybe her left arm (our right).

Her crotch is quite 'square' looking...

With regardfs to ur firefly test: Bump up the fps from what it seems 12 frames per sec to maybe 24. It will smooth out the animation, just extend the animation over the timeline a little more. (it is at 12fps aint it?)

To comlock...man i love it. the sky is beautiful especially the area just behind the people in the foreground. Sexy. The background mountain looks superb too! Cant wait to see it fully done.

did u finish the last CGtalk one? love to see it too.

Psybola,

The things that will affect your reflection are:
-the angle of the sun (how much it penetrates the lake, lightening the water)
-the waves on the lake (small and far away will have a blurry effect)
-the darkness of the mountains (darker reflections)
-the mineral content of the water (perhaps going a bit far, but glacial lakes with all the silt in them give very muted refections)
-etc

You have to figure out how to use the style you brought to the rendering of the mountains for their reflection. Even though they are so far away that you probably would not be able to make them out, breaking up the outline of the reflection with a horizontal wave patter would be a possible starting point.

Don't forget that waves are just bends in the reflection. We can only make them out when they reflect something different from what the rest of the water is reflecting (we see the contrast).

Here's a reference image I found by putting "mountain reflection" into GIS.
