Espen, see if any of these suggestions help you out. When the help function in 3ds max doesn't get you what you want, Google saves the day. Edit: I circled possible problem areas. ![]() You want to have serveral complete edge loops around the eyes before you start to mingle it with the edgeloops from the bottom half of the face or break it up- ideally you'd want to merge around the cheek bone. Check out the Joan of Arc model again. Oh, and if you want to see both halves of the face at once and have them constantly update as you move one side: 1. Snap the pivot point of the original face half to the middle of the face. 2. Do an INSTANCE dulpication of the face. 3. Make the scale negative in the direction you want it to go. |

The first thing I'd ask you to do is maybe see it a little bigger? It would be easier to critique a lager image. I myself don't have too much knowledge about Photoshop... but I'd guess that someone better at Photoshop than I would have the a similar or the same request. |

Hello people!!! I see now that post. Neo_uk for me very nice your comic... is based on real facts. I say only because in Berlin have happened something like that. Somebody stay ball in the Street (I think 9 balls). But that balls was did in cement, and with a littlel poster that say: "Can you kick?" With a text like this 15 persons kick off the balls... Some times the reality surpasses to the fiction

One thing that really stands out to me is her right leg. Mostly along the back side of it and the kneecap, it seems like it's turned a bit towards us... but her foot is completely horizontal. Also, the hat sorta looks like it's just floating there. But what do I know? Don't listen to me... wait for Commie or Anghen, or Bleego to comment. It looks great. Great to see stuff from you again. |

![]() Hey Yog, took the liberty of a paintover. The proportions were a little off, mainly the eye bieng placed to high. Eyeline is in the middle of the face, so that's where the eyes should be, also the eyebrows were too close to the eye, keep in mind the eyesockets when doing eyes, the eyebrows rest on the top edge. Ear should go from the eye-line to the bottom of the nose, so made it a little longer. The nose felt a little squeezed to me, so I made it a little higher. Then I relaxed the shoulders a bit (don't know the backstory so I might be wrong here) and had some fun with the smudgetool ^_^' I like the skintones, very realistic. Is is a portrait of someone? |

I agree with Tom Conger, the knee itself is to far across the leg for the foot position, at least thats how my mind makes it look. Here's the start of a character concept I have been doing today. Eventually she will be an modern/urban sorceress. I'm still contemplating what type of accessories she should have, any suggestions?

she looks cold id put a big clock on her, like a bathe robe except more nicer fabric (silky) and with little symbols on it, and she should have a funky staff |

alright, i've done a bit of redlining on your girl. your biggest problem i think is that you are not starting from basic shapes and layering on detail. you are doing what most amateur artists do, you start by drawing the head, then the neck, then the shoulders etc. without any underlying frame or guidework. the end result is messed up proportions and pieces that don't quite fit together, like a puzzle that has been haphazardly forced together without any regard for whether the pieces fit, or what the picture looks like. this is a habit that will take some time to break, but in order to improve, you must start working on immediately. i remember flipping through how to draw books and thinking "why the hell do they do all these basic circles and stuff underneath? this stuff's boring, i wanna just cut to the interesting part". and so i would, i'd just start with the eyes and work my way down. it took quite a few slaps on the wrist from other artists before i finally started actually taking the age old advice of "basic shapes first" ![]() I just searched the internet for a goddamn hour trying to find that image of how a woman's proportions relate to head sizes and I can't find it, now i'm frustrated, i found like 50 ones with men, none with women. anyways, your lady is currently 8 heads high, but her proportions and sizes of her individual parts do not fit. for example, her torso is entirely too long. I sketched in where the torso should be based soley on the breasts (not based on anything above the breasts as that whole area is also misproportioned in relation to them). Where her pelvis hits is turned at an unnatural angle based on the upper part. it's like all of a sudden she's just twisted somehow. The legs, especially the knees are really awkward looking and seem rushed. the feet are alright, but where the boot meets her knee doesn't make any sense to me. the hair kind of looks like snakes, which could be cool i guess if that's what you're going for. as for the coloring, your lightsources are inconsistent. you've got glow coming from her right, then all of a sudden her boobs are glowing on her left. be consistent with lightsources, pick one in the beginning and go from there (pfft i'm one to talk, i still have trouble with light sources most days... it's hard not to get caught up in detailing bits and pieces without stopping to look back at the whole image, again, the puzzle analogy) it really looks like you put a lot of work into the boobs (heheh) then just kinda slacked off on everything underneath. her underwear/diaper thing is really really unappealing and needs to be streamlined a little, make it not so bulky. anyways, you've still got quite a bit of work ahead of you, but with time and heaps of practice, you'll improve. just try to start with basic forms first before cutting into the details. |

I see that, thanks for your help and the time you spent writing/researching that very well thought out post. I knew this drawing was going to get eaten alive before I posted it. You see, I was just kinda playing around, especially with the coloring and I was really just looking for some suggestions on accessories. Here's a second concept sketch I was working on before I read your post, I have left my sketch/shape layers visible and added the head diagram for you to see where I am going with this character. Do you find this any better? The diaper looking thing was supposed to be a pair of black leather daisy dukes and they were also lowrise so they will appear much lower than traditional pants/skirts etc. This could be why the torso looks so long. I am trying to take an old concept (a soceress) and make in new, hip, and original. |
