Yembles, that makes me very happy inside. Any chance we could see it sitting on a simple surface with a shadow beneath it? It seems a little weightless right now when it could be a BEE MONOLITH!!! Rawr! Coloring is very nice, especially on that abdomen segment. |

A little history before I show you the pictures: Very Rough. The arms look like crap I know, but they're not the final arms, they're a sketch to see what they're gonna look like. Me and Mario (see picture below) met last year at school and soon became great friends. He started coming over to my house, and we'd jam, covering songs and jamming around a improv guitar riff (see Velvet Underground, we were kinda like that.) Then my friend Phil who plays Bass decided to jam with us one time, and the Works were born. We're a Psychedellic Classic Rock band. We found a drummer, Matt, a guy I knew a couple years back. He's really good but his music taste is a lot of different (death metal) and his house isn't local, so we're thinking of dropping him. Such talent though. Ever since I made this picture and uploaded it, I was bombared with requests: "Dude, I'll pay you $[x] to make me a trippy picture." So I have a artistic reputation and earned a bit of money. Mario asked me to edit a picture of him skating (he's really good, 2nd best in the bay area according to most of my friends), and over an AIM conversation it evolved into turning it into Axis: Bold as love (see below.), but with Mario instead of Hendrix. Then, instead of the guys behind him, Me and Phil, and a sillouete of Matt in the sun. These arms, again, are just a sketch. Finally, this is what I'm working on. http://img307.imageshack.us/my.php?image=m...llierail9kr.jpg + = ![]() (Once again, arms are just a sketch and this is only the beginning.) |

looks great yemy! what an advancement from the start. to chungus. i like it man. but i wud change the skaeboard. doesnt fit in with the pic. looks weird cuz the main colours are blue black and brown, so a rainbow skateboard looks off. apart from that i think its cool. i like all the arms. |

Cheers man. Yeah I'm not to fond of the skateboard either, but I thought I'd see how it'd fit in with the Background before I changed it. Yembles, that's looking sick! Albiet a bit huge though. |

Keep in mind I'm still a Photoshop noob, but I made a few changes to the second colour scheme of yours. The first one didn't feel as moon-lighty as the second one. I noticed that you'd roughed in the shade, or most of it, but left out any highlights. Increase the brightness of the moon as it is your only source of light right now and the light falling on your landscape doesn't match that which the moon is reflecting. Here's my ten minute edit. It's mostly highlights which I've used to attempt to add some depth. I know yours is unfinished but you should put in some indication of where the lighter areas will be. Sorry if you think I've messed up your image.

The second one feels more better. I think it's because you used cooler colors where in the first you used more warm ones. |

thanx. i wasn't worried bout highlights just yet, but thanx for doing it, i will save it for reference if i need it. i will probably change that blue roofing to be darker and with a hint of purple, but i guess there's no nee to change much else unless some1 thinks otherwise. |

Nice picture Espen.
manga is difficult to paint because it usually has very clean lines as well as a distinct lack of gradient shading. It's more suited to vector art, but a good manga image painted well can look stunning. I'm not an expert, but let me give you this advice: When shading try to stay away from black and whites. Adding a layer of low-opacity black or white on top of a colour tends to make it look dirty or bleached, rather than shaded. Manually find a darker/lighter shade of the colour you're using. The only places where this looks like it is happening is on her arms, chest and nose. Keep at it. I want to see more. -- Seeing as tomorrow I am off to Ancient Greek Summer School for two weeks I haven't been able to start any big projects, much to my annoyance as I'm feeling fairly... prolific, as of late. So I've been watching some video tuts and messing around in 3D Studio Max for a wee bit. I decided to do some box modelling (as NURBS modelling was getting me nowhere fast...) and, for some reason, I found myself modelling Hellboy. Which is kind of weird as I'm not even that much of a fan. O_o Anyway, I've never considered myself very good at character modelling, but this mess-around model starting coming out quite nicely. I only spent 30 minutes on this, not intending it to become a project (because, as I said, I'm off tomorrow away from computers :(). Anyway, enough chat. Here it is: Hellboy. No. I didn't draw that picture in the corner. What do you think?

Looks good Espen, but why must all anime girls have short skirts!?
The eyes are done well, the only crit I have is the hair looks kinda...like it's been cast in a mold. It dosn't look like hair would sit that way, it kinda looks like a shell. If that makes sense
