w00t I didnt actually realise at first that you had anything in your animation, i thought it was jsut the start bit with the crosshair, I find that its much too difficult to actually figure out what you have to shoot to make the animation work.... maybe jsut have a guy standing there with a speech bubble "please shoot me" or something lol. And the guns are lookin pretty good, try not to bitmap trace them though because, if the rest of your animation is not of the same standars, they will just not fit it.

Apologizing in advance here, i know the contempt against anime in these forums. But i was drawing today and after some coloring i got a pretty neat image, be gentle.

Anime's not far different from realism outlined-ness. I actually found that following drawing tuts from anime artist was a great bridge between "I can't Draw people" to "I have my own style now." You just need to play around with it a little more, mostly try to change the facial styling, then people won't pick on you [it's the anime-eyes I think]. But you are very much so better than when you first joined if I recall.
Don't be afraid to have stronger lighting [ie: darker shadows and lighter highlights], it will really help define the form of your character. Nice work on the [leather?] shoes. Leather is very tricky, you got the specularity pretty good [how quickly the highlight fades away], but I think there would just be less highlight overall...

keep it up, and let's see you try out some personal style!!

Yeah. I may hate anime, but Im not afriad to admit that my drawing style evolved from a heavily anime-influenced webcomic's art style.

Random character design floating around my head that I decided to draw. I figured she'd be a priestess. Soon I'll go back and draw a cloak over her.

I dunno man, I have nothing against anime or manga at all anymore. I used to hate it because the only exposure I had was the really, really badly animated crap I was exposed to on kids television shows. It was this forum that chnaged my mind by showing me that properly done, the style is amazing.
Look at Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, they are all in that style and they are all such artistic masterpieces. And I never would have given them a try had it not been for the prodding of members of this forum. So to say that Brackenwood has contempt for anime isnt quite acurate at all! :bfoot:

I've never seen that one Mal. And may I say you are a bastard for bringing my attention to it now! I blew 5 straight hours today reading them from start to finish! :wbitey:
:P Bloody awesome webcomic, great storylines and subject matter, and incredible artwork to boot! Cool link man.
I'm also assuming that this is where your forum name here developed from?

I've been posting links to that comic ever since I became a member here  Im one of their biggest fans! (It's such a shame they're going on a large hiatus now. It breaks my heart :( )

(And about the screen name: you'd think that wouldn't you? But even before Ian showed his interest for the angelic choirs, I was using Seraphim and eventually Seraphym as a name. Mostly because Y is so much cooler than I. (and I am so much cooler than U :P) I eventually traded in Seraphym for Malakym in use of online games because while Seraphym is the highest choir, Malakym are the angels of war, and that's more intimidating in my opinion. So I switched to Malakym for games and eventually that translated over to non-game related stuff. While I was a fan of Mac Hall before I took this name, I took this name before Ian started using it. You should have seen my reaction when I typed in "Malakym" into google to find if I was noted in anything, and got a Mac hall result. It was crazy :P)

Not bad man just you need to bring the eye's up alot higher cause at the moment he looks like he has the biggest forehead you havve ever seen. But very nice.

Photoshop 6 pro I presume. There is an effect can't remember what it is called but it gives this really nice shine to things so try and find that to give it a bit more power or something like that

The eyes are there because he's looking down, didnt bother doing much shading so its hard to tell.

Very good, Calco. Love the lines. You should try using the Polygon selection tool to trace around the shape on a layer below the inks, and use the paint bucket tool to fill it with the color. Then, on the layer above (the inks) change the blending options to multiply. This will get rid of those anti-alias lines around the red or other colors. :)

In other news, I've done the base coloring and started on the shading/lighting. I've only gotten the head done, and I've done some touch up work since I uploaded this one.

Thanks heaps.

Basically for UT2004 and UT GOTYE. One of my mates designed this cool as character for me but she has no avator, she has a crappy preset one so I wouldn't mind using yours.

Your design is very smililar to my friends *except 2D not 3D* and your has blonde hair my character is brunette with blonde through the hair but none the less they look very smililar in robes and aswome looking.

I wish I could draw as well as you can I make a suggestion for you and all others that like drawing styles

Looks really fancy, there's one so-called animé-trademark though that I sincerely hate and that's how the eyes show through the hair. Other than that, it's great.

I tried that. I found that if you cut off the part behind the hair, the image loses a lot of it's emotion or personality. I did try making the hair color multiply over the eye colors, though. I dont think it helped though.

Looking pretty good Malakym....are you finished with it? If not, I'd add some darks around her top & her dress.....as well endowed as she is, those things are gonna cast some serious shadows ;). Her dress will pop more with some shadows & highlights too...plus you could go as nuts with it as you want since no matter how much you shade it, the glowing bright yellow from her head will always draw your attention upwards. Looks great!

Gobi: Your stuff is always pleasing to look at. I'm a sucker for orange & brown, so I'm kinda wishing I could eat your piece with a spoon.

===

I'm still having some troubles deciding on colors with this guy, although I'm pretty satisfied with this setup. I'm trying to do something a little bit atypical, yet still appealing. C&C always welcome...especially with the painting technique.....I don't have much experience in painting characters for animation in Flash with multiple tones & I know BW has quite a few good digital painters.

ok heres a pic dump if there every was one.

I have been coming up with the characters for a animation, I have a lot of the animation planned how for how I want to go about it, but I haven't entirely decided completely what medium all the different steps and characters will be.

Basically it's evolution, I showed a couple steps a while ago, but this is more, more, more baby!

Step 1)
The Cell is formed from wherever and whatever was their before, I thought of it more as the first cells developed in child birth. And they multiply in to more.

Posted Image

Step 2)
Well obviously a single cell in it's infant state will not survive for long, so I decided to go with a amoeba which you should know is a single cell organism that survives on it's own or whatever, I don't know that much.

Posted Image

Step 3)
Time to get serious, my creature develops into a full out ummm thing. Not quite nearly a fish but able to propel it self around pretty efficiently.

Posted Image

Step 4)
He's developing more in to a self sufficient living creature, coming out of the depths of the oceans. It's body is refining it self more efficiently.

Posted Image

Step 5)
Now streamlined in to a efficient fish, he's gotten rid of all the excess baggage.

Posted Image

Step 6)
Rawr a dino! He seems to preparing for something what could it be?

Posted Image

Step 7)
Leaving the unforgiving endless oceans as a thing of the pass this clumsy creature stumbles out of the water and takes his first breath.

Posted Image

Step 8)
Looks like he’s acclimated himself pretty nicely to land, he's plenty more agile and read to eat some leaves!

Posted Image

Step 9)
Just when we got comfortable the whole system breaks down, fly birdie fly!

Posted Image

Step 10)
Need to get comfortable for a long winter, come back down for some nice land dwellings.

Posted Image

Ok so there are a few steps missing at the end, they have been plenty planned just not completed in flash format to coincide with the rest of these creations.

I would love some C&C.

I can't even say anything bad about it

and Sweaterjon it looks nice but it isn't correct (but I think your first objective is to make it look nice then you have sucseded)
some mistake: the 2nd stab schoul have a green color because they did fotosynthesis
and some others but nice work anyway
