to ignore perspective and to basically break the rules, you should first truly understand the rules that you are breaking.

You should first truly understand the rules that you are breaking.

Got that right, you have all those modern "artists" that are creating their "art" without no basic knowledge whatsoever about exactly WHAT they are doing (rules??? in art???).
Then there's some rich retard who pays millions for a blob of paint and semen to hang it in his garage. It pisses me off to no extend :worry:

I'm not saying abstract art is bad, just don't use it as an excuse for not learning the basics. :)

I also like how this whole forum has taken naturalistic tendacies, Have all of you lost any ability to portray the purely abstract? No one NEEDS to learn lifelike anatomy. No one NEEDS to learn realistic perspective, thats just a preconception that all good art is life-like art.

There is actually a pretty good reason that this forum "pushes" lifelike anatomy. Primarily, this forum is for animators and animation enthusiasts. That being the case, lifelike anatomy becomes very important as 99.99% of animation is depicting believeble life through drawings. Hence the reason those here in the know tend to cram it down our throats. (And rightfully so I may add!) :bfoot:

Here is an animation I'm working on. It's nowhere near done, but I've got a lot of the basic animatic shots taken with voice acting, and Ive begun some of the simple animations.

I still have a lot of touchups to do to what ive done so far. It's going to be a while...

My recommendation - Fix her right arm a little bit making it more curved :D

Ok it was like 3:00am in the morning and feeling sick and bored. So I made this:
Flash: Paddle Ball

Can you notice the huge mistake appart from the ball not be a constant speed?

Hi! I'm obviously new to this place and I love some of of the stuff I see here. Here are 2 things I've been working on:

Its a cityscape thingy. It's my first in a loooong time so I'm a bit rusty :(

Heres a wallpaper thing I made. Also to get out of "rusty mode"

I know this stuff isn't comparable to most of the stuff here so go easy on me ;)
C&C please.

If your art wasn't based upon a subject from life, how would anyone be able to understand it or know what it was?

Pollock.

The point, my friend, is that you don't NEED to understand it. No one truly understands the meaning of life, yet we live it nonetheless. Art is much the same, I just don't want to see that die with all of these modern tendacies, Art is pushing back towards realism and impressionism. How many of you would be truly grieved if non-representational art was discarded?

All art is based upon life whether you like it or not, even pollock, his art was based off emotion, turmoil, and of course booze.

And while I agree with you, Pollock would punch you in the mouth for saying that.

If he weren't dead, that is.

Stop trying to define it guys....

Art doesn't need it and didn't ask to be defined...

It's everything and nothing. Don't worry about "what" it is. If you love to make it, that's all you need to know.

I would recomend trying to make the fruit fall more realisticly, they look odd when falling...its the way they streach.

make every fruit it's own symbol. it doesn't look real if it all falls the same.
and the splash make it frame by frame. then it would look better

Meh, I don't care for Pollock....although I think he is the guy that planned out all his paintings...even though they were non objective, which gets him more respect from me..
but the only non-objective art I like is the pioneer, himself, Wassily Kandinsky!!

FBF that's lookin' pretty good...
I agree with The Deuce, the fruit is a little lacking...

and the guys movement looks odd...not sure what it is though, sorry :\
