Dazla- When you do your work, decide whether you want lineart or not.

If you do indeed want lineart to show through, then ink the lines with the brush tool or pen tool. What i do is create a layer underneath the lineart with a base color, then a layer over that with paint for shadows/light areas/ highlights and ETC.
This method works for me, but if you aren't using lineart, i cant help ya. I haven't tried it yet myself.

back leg should never be that bent unless the character is "creeping" or "tiptoeing". Also, look at the transition from the 2nd green guys front leg to the 3rd black dudes front leg. It looks a little too drastic from my perspective when looking at the other positions on your map.

Dazzle that is some intense body art. Safe best would be to go with one.

My turn!
I’m in the mist of finishing up on a flash. Which I’m been working on, don’t want to give away major scenes so take a look at this for the mean time.

Your crits are most appreciated.
To those that I lie about saying that it is finish. :P sorry I still need some time. Work has been slow. since I’ve been sick now for the past 24 hours.

hey woot,

I think exporting your flash as an image sequence and importing it into an editing program like premier or after effects works best and gets the best quality and it gives you everyframe =).

hey rade,

Your projects are getting bigger and bigger and more in depth keep up the good work ;) Show us when you have fully finished this one. You should try and build a huge one out of cardboard like 1m by 1m (3ft12in by 3ft12in) Don't know where you are from so ill say both :). I think that would be an awsome thing to have done (just a suggestion)

I was just playing around with this, but seeing how I suck at light and shadow, I wanted to show this and ask for advice...

Posted Image

Yes yes, if you're wondering, that's me. :P

Soooo...what would you guys suggest for the light and shadows? (and lack thereof)? Mind you, I am using Photoshop 7.0 and a trackball mouse for this thing...otherwise, it might look a little better. :yfok:

I'm not the greatest at this sort of stuff.. but i gave it a go.

Posted Image

The one thing that I've learnt to try alot of is OPACITIES. Keep the percentage low. and go wild. Also be aware of where the light is coming from.. so make the highlights and shadows correspond to that. Along with the shape and structure of the body.

I really like your Idea though Shenorai. And you've done it well.

Hope I could have been of some sort of help. :worry:

As far as the red coat goes its fine, but rarely should anything of the color "black" be colored completely black while in daylight. You should think about the light spectrum, the black of the coller doesn't match the spectrum of the red coat because its completely black and devoid of any signs of be affected by the sun. There should be some kind of highlights that tell us "This is a black fabric in daylight, you can tell because the light of the sun makes highlights on me!". If its a solid dark shade like you have there whilst the sun shines so brightly on everything else it tells us "I defy the laws of light!"

Keep it up! But how about something original? :wbitey:

EDIT: This has been referred before as a good light theory site (By jemooky in the sketch thread i believe). I suggest checking it out if you want to learn all you can about the visual physics of light.

This is an animatic that I'll be continuing to update. Eventually turning into a full character animation. But for now it's just a half finished animatic.
Tips and crits welcomem. Tips more then crits since it's unfinished.
