Damn you vec, It's looking too good.

I have animated the door, but i don't know where to upload it.

3D Studio Max is starting to annoy me. It started to warp my objects.

Tnx Yem for your help.

Very smooth Mathulus. :)

I'm impressed.

I'm so glad people are attempting animation. Perhaps the next challenge will require animation. Something for me to think about. ;)

Decided to try learning Blender again.

Im pretty sure im not gonna get a very good score with this considering all the overlapping shapes i didn't size right, but I might as well post them. :)

That looks very cool. ^_^

Curious, how did you do the walls? Is it a cube modified to hell, or is it just a plane or something? I couldn't tell by the wireframe.

Like the touch of the touch-pad, very nice :D

I think i'll do a full 640x480 render of my door and start on a new one, seeing as this thread is kinda dead.

Added some cables on the back of the door to explain the movement ^_^

Click Me, I'm 1.9 MB!

Wouldn't the wires tighten straight before being able to pull the metal slabs upwards?

Unless they're made of metal or are living organisms or something...

Yeah, that was kind of the feel I was aiming for. Ie they're moving around, not just suspension cables pulled by motors. :)

Yeah, i was afraid i had killed the thread :( .
Anyway, thanks for the comments.
The wall is all 1 big modified cube except for the series of vertical bars.
(Noobish question) Is that a bad thing?

Nah, there's nothing wrong with that. Either way's fine. Don't forget the application is an important factor in considering how you model (Ie the application of a model, not the application you use to make the model).

For example, if it's for a game you might choose to make something look 3D with more textures than geometry in order to reduce processing time, but if it was for a picture or movie you would use more geometry and rely less on the use of textures to create a 3D illusion.

Firstly, it's kind of hard to see when its only an tumbnail.

Secondly, it doesn't look like a door.
