Being bored in school has caused me to think.
For all those who know me, this is a scary thing.
Luckily, i'm not planning revenge or some elaborate prank on someone.
I'm trying to answer an age-old question.

Is there truly on religion, or are we just fools?

My line of thought is as follows:
In the instance of any religious prophet (Jesus, Muhhammad, etc) are either:
A ) The real deal
or
B ) One of the world's greatest con-artists ever.

In a way, this is very depressing. from a strictly scientific view, there is no god. Life, a supposed miracle, is just a complex chemical reaction occuring over the course of many years. Death has no afterlife, you rot. However, from a theological point of view, every human has some form of life after death, and those who are good are rewarded, and those who are bad are punished. Religion, whether or not it is true, has created an ideal society where there are a considerable amount of polite and respectful people. Still, though, i feel bad. Could those ho's entire life IS religion, are they just wasting their time? Are they forsaking personal gain and pleasure for no reason other than the fact that they believe?

Needless to say, without religion, society would be going to hell (no pun intended)
Feel free to add more.

Yea sometimes I think. Was Jesus a good con artist but iam glad he did what he did. Its just faith really when you come down to it. We dont know at all if he really is who he is. Its all about faith.

I would have it no other way. If Jesus came down from the heavens and said today is the day of Jugement.

I would be like. Jesus you cant do this to me. I finally find a girl and today is my birthday! You timing is just simply bad.

True. faith has, without a doubt, made society better. I'm the one who's got the problem, questioning faith and whatnot lol

But anyways, i thought of an interseting tidbit.
In the part of the Bible where they talk about the garden of Eden, they discuss many animals, but never once is a dinosaur mentioned. One would figure that something THAT big would merit at least a sidenote.

I had a friend in high school who was a devout christian. I asked her about dinosaurs once and she said it's kinda hard to deny that they ever existed. But she also said that her mom says they are just "interesting rock formations." I never did understand how someone could convince themselves of that. I don't know about religion. It's a wearying topic because everyone has an opinion. I hope to god there's a life after death, but I really rather doubt it. I wonder, if you could prove, and I mean PROVE beyond a shadow of a doubt that there was no life after death....would it stop suicide bombers from killing themselves and a bunch of other people? Would society stay as "polite" as it is? Would all those people who travel thousands of miles every year to some cesspool of a city in the middle east just bathe their feet in a so called holy river still go? I think they would. Because even with solid proof in front of them they just wouldn't be able to give up their faith. Cause without it they wouldn't have anything else. And I bet you'd get death threats from these so called religious people, who believe that killing is wrong. Funny how they forget that when someone naysays their religion.

I always ponder on the thought. When someone dies are they still the same? I mean do you think they would change into some super kind person or seek revenge(if murdered)?
I kind of believe in "afterlife" becuase I have seen ghosts(with my own eyes and yes they do exist) and I believe they are living the "afterlife".

Ponder on that.

Pfftt... heaven, nothing but space up there where god is meant to live. Hell, get the fuck outta here... it's all earth and huge diamonds and a very hot core baby. God, who the hell is that. Devil, fuck off. Dinosaurs were/are more real then god and satan put together. Jesus, died for my sins?? no he did'nt I was'nt alive. If you believe he resurrected himself you must believe Resident Evil, Land of The Dead, Night of The Living Dead etc is actual fotage of something happening in the world.. I laugh at j00.

This is all IMO. If you are offended or I'am making you question your religion. Sorry.

I've seen a ghost at my grandmothers house. It was a black figure and it was imitating my cousin in size and actions. Another is my great uncle who stays at my other grandmother(she is my mothers mum the other one is my mum's, mum's sister :P ) and he always opens and closes the door. The last one I believe stays here at my house and I believe it's my baby sister... it gets real cold and we(my family and other people who come over) claim to have seen people walking around my house.

Whew...

With the exception to that Resident Evil bit I have heard all of that before and my response is the same. Its your choice to beleive in God and Jesus or not. It doesn't matter to me at all. I'll just hope that Peter's revelation is right.

I don't generally worry about the afterlife, because I don't even worry about the life I'm leading now. Besides, I'm not going to change just because some book says I should, so why bother? I find that most people who are up in arms about their religion don't really follow the tenets to the letter anyway.

Of course people don't follow the bible to the letter. The bible says that you should kill adulterers, false prophets, and witches. If we were to do that all of the faithful would be in federal prisions.

The way i figure it, as my personal philsophy, is that the human mind is the strongest thing in the universe. By sheer will, that is, if you believe in telekinesis, one could bend a spoon with ones mind. Therefore, i believe that if one human is devoted to the notion that there is heaven, THAT is where they will go. Reincarnation? same thing. It's just my idea...

God is just something greater than ones self. Aliens existing... possibly, but I think they would have showed up and be living here by now.

You cant believe in God and not believe in aliens. Pass it on.

Funny, I don't remember hearing that in church or reading it in the bible. So tell me where is that written?

Its not really a matter if its in the Bible, its common sense. Why would God, with all the vastness of the universe, create only one race. It's selfish for us as humans to believe that we're the only ones out there. God is omnipresent, so what's at least one other race to look after?

Besides, the astronomical probablity of us being the only intelligent species in the universe is almost completely impossible. The fact that they aren't living here with us now is probably either
1) They can't reach us yet
2) They dont bother with us, even if they can get here
3) They're still observing us to see if we're worth exchanging information with.

Seriously, open your minds

OK buddy, heres the deal. God is beyond human understanding, common sense doesn't apply to Him, He can do whatever He wants.
I beleive in God because humans had to come from somewhere. For the evolutionists that single celled organism we eventually evolved from had to come from somewhere.
But the only way your going to convince me that exraterestrials exist is if one approaches me itself, and not a second before.

there could be aliens, just not in our solar system so it would be a bit of a journey to get to us, so if there are aliens they may not have the technology to travel that far as we dont, also if the theory of the universe being endless is true then in theory it is possible that billions and billions (well very far) away there are 'aliens' that look like us but with an extra finger or somin. i hope u all understand that (it wasn't entirly aimed at caveking)

My take on everything, just because you believe something doesn't make it real. Aliens, God, even time. No one can make you believe something and you aren't going to convince anyone either. People only change their minds when they want to. Plus something big enough to influence someone's life shouldn't be forced in most of the time. Example, I can put an apple in an oven but that will never be bread. But as far as I'm not causing a war or a big old hissy fit over what I believe. I'm pretty sure no one will have a problem.

My spidey sence is tingling, I think someone will start flaming in this topic soon.

Edit: redempstar, mods can do their job just fine.
