Nice Vec, but the shoulderjoint needs work - there practicly isn't one and it kinda hurts the pic. Try seperating for and background more, try lighting one more, currently it's lacking some depth. Save a quick copy and go nuts, shade the character from all sides and angles. Feel free to push the contrast That's often a mistake people make; they're playing it too safe with their lighting and the end result often looks flat. |

I like the top one the most too. Any chance we can see bigger versions of each? They're certainly surreal.

Very cool, Buss. I'll admit that I was confused by the composition of the picture at first. After allowing myself to be a bit more absorbed in it, and I noticed all these symbols. Obviously, they mean something to you, and it may be benefital for us to post up a little legend showing what everything means and how it relates to you. Oh, and the colour balance seems off. Too much blue on one side, too much warm colours on the other. It dosen't matter too much, but you know how Humble is picky So overall, don't let these crits. give you the impression that I don't like it. I do like it very much, in fact, but it would be better if you worked on the points that I mentioned. After all, we ninjas have to help each other out. :ph43r: |

Definately shaping up Buss, but the symbolism is lost on the viewer if you don't explain it. As Mooky said, it would mean alot more to us if you explained the relevance of the symbols used. Atm it reminds me slightly of some of the old Mambo art, lots of random shapes and motifs which always seemed to work well together. |

Ok well the symbols on the purple disk thing are the symbols for the planets: Jupiter, Neptune, and Saturn. The snake is nice because I like snakes because of their sterotypical beliefs to be sinister and sneaky, the snake also worked into a nice 'eye' pattern for the 'head' The weapon in the middle, im not sure what it is, I just liked the way it was shaped and it stands as a sort of left cheek for the face. The knives over top of the 'head' are a sort of representation of my life in that its so touchy and i have to be so responsible or else the line breaks and down falls the knives. Overall it turned out to have a lot more 'involved' than I originally planned, but im iking the way its going so far! |

Nope The piece overall is much better now that you've explained it Buss. I especially like the knives on the string part. What's the green part on the right for though? |

Alright, all done with the sketching. Giong to wait and color it in over Thanksgiving..>>' Will need something to do with family. That kind of imagery is not appropriate for this forum.. nudity ok, but that.. no. - Admin EDIT: Not exactly finished, as I am still trying to figure out how to work the scales onto the Cobra. Another Edit:
Sorry. ^_^" Didn't know that was not considered Nudity. Thanks for letting me know, won't happen again. |

ya kno Walrus, im not really sure what its there for, at first is was like the thing that the peachy sun rays shot out of, but now its like nothing . . . I might just color it over w/ that bluey background and see what i get, other than that im going to start detailing later today EDIT More detailing: ![]() I tried to sorta lighten up on the outlines because idk it was being a little more boxy and saturated than I wanted, I also detailed the snake thingy and the sword blade; yet i forgot to take out that green thing, so that will be in the next update! Any Crits so far? |

Well here is my surreal self-portrait. I already had the intention to reveal all the symbolism in the things in the portrait... I mean, how can you make something surreal if you don't explain it? I couldn't bare to make something and people not understanding it ! =D So I guess here it goes. It isn't a final version, so I welcome criticism. I will probably add more details, and maybe other symbols of my personality. The man you see is ... well... me. My eyes aren't there, I can't see. They have been replaced by clocks. The clocks are my eyes. I see how time passes by, how the world that I see, in other words, life itself, is just a matter of time being consumed. Reminds me of how your time is very brief and your life has an end, the clocks are kind of a countdown too, the time you have left in this world. That's how I see life, how I see human beings living, how I see ME living, physically speaking. You can also see my lips are surgically sealed. I can't speak, as if I was refraining myself to speak, to say what I really care about, what I really want. It might be because of fear, because of a shy personality. I'm usually a guy that talks A LOT. But when it comes to important stuff, I rather listen and shut up. I don't like to express my opinion and views on important stuff too much, because it's always source of debates, and you can write thousands of books about one subject and one opinion. But I do talk, though lol. So this is why my lips are sealed, since I think that a portrait (at least a surreal one) reflects the true personality of the person. My brain is exposed, open to the air and to the world. This is because I share a lot, everyone can see how I am, my plans, I just don't like to keep things a secret if there isn't a valid reason to do so. Everyone can take a little of my own and do whatever they want with it. They can copy me, judge me, be like me... whatever they want. My brain is in some sort of machine. That machine is in fact something that "steals" or "momentarily takes away" my thoughts, views, opinions on things. I'm a very distracted dude and I don't reason like most of my friends do (at least, this is what I think, maybe I think I'm just too different and special haha). I feel very different from that point of view. I have a very good memory, but I don't seem to recall the same kind of things that my friends do, in overall. It's kind of a fact, it's just as if I saw the things differently. So this is why this machine "keeps away" those thoughts from me and seems to direct them behind my back, but in fact, no one knows, not even me, where this "machine" takes my thoughts. It might keep them, throw them away ... Who knows ? And the background is kind of foggish, blurry, as if there was smoke. I think it does reflect the uncertain environment in which I live, in this period of my life where my actions are deciding my future (I'm in the last year of highschool, and here in France, it kinda is the year where my future is drawn by fate and by my marks !). Hope that didn't look too "jibberish" Here it goes anyway. PS: I feel as if I was doing a philosophy test. I feel "Out of Subject" (talking about something completely different!).

I think the picture speaks for itself: BRIEF NUDITY WARNING. If you are afraid of pigs or penises, by all means, don't click. Hah... I suddenly remembered that there's this great animation called 'Le Building'. It has an overweight barenaked lady taking a shower and a man getting killed by getting hit with a radio... And when the link to this movie was posted on CGtalk, all of the Americans were upset because of the nudity and the Europeans thought that the man getting killed was a bigger issue. Funny, eh?
