The SHE-Wolf of the Crop-Circles
Thanks Jdave, more on it’s way. Prowlies :++: YAY!
Oops, sorry Emerald Fang, didn’t mean to nick a reader. But thanks for reading as well! :D
LOL! Wootage. I like that, anyway, medved, here’s the prowlie encounter.
Yup, swartzer, I think Bitey’ll be around. :D :yfok: And I’m not sure it’ll be too interestin’ actually…:gasp:

Part 13

The wolf slept like a log through the entire night, regardless of wind, rain, and Bitey’s snoring. She was woken the next morning by a yelp and a vibrating hammering like a woodpeaker, and then a violent scrabbling and furious scuffling. Seffanee sleepily raised her head and flicked an ear. She drop her muzzle back to her paws. Something appeared to have annoyed Bitey. Oh well.

A few moments later an irate Bitey jumped down beside the wolf from the second level. The she-wolf opened and eye as he sat down cross-legged, chin in his hands, looking annoyed. One of his eyes looked blood-shot and sore. Seffanee raised her head and tilted it to one side.

What have you been up to now?

Bitey moaned and rubbed the watering eye. The wolf let out a sigh and sat up, she began licking the sore eye with a soothing tongue. Feeling better Bitey got up after a while and went out, the she-wolf yawned, showing hard fangs before getting up and following.

She went outside and stretched sleepy muscles, shaking herself vigorously afterward. The wolf then sat and watched, highly amused as a lizard-thing that acted like a woodpecker decided to pass solids in Bitey’s water… The wolf shook her muzzle, mouth open and tongue out laughing as dogs and wolves do, as Bitey hit the pecker lizard with a rock and it fell into the soiled water.

Bitey stalked past the wolf and up to the brow of a small, green hillock. Suddenly he jumped into the nearest tree and like a squirrel began springing from tree to tree. The wolf raised a hind leg and scratched her ear before breaking to a run and plunging into the forest. She followed Bitey on the ground, racing through the brush and undergrowth as he moved through the trees.

After a time Bitey grabbed hold of a young, slender tree that bent smoothly under his weight and dangled him a foot from the ground for a moment. Seffanee had caught up with him by this time and her muzzle followed the erratic movements of the small red bird fluttering around his head making annoyed buzzing sounds. Bitey let go on the sapling and it shot back into place. Hitting the bird on the way… Seffanee watched it change colour to take on a very pale hue as it soared out of sight. Shaking her muzzle the wolf joined Bitey as he walked off.

They soon came to an open glade with a river and five strange, blue-black creatures that Seffanee had never seen before. She watched the two younger ones playing around very much like wolf cubs and she felt a stir of longing in her gut. The she-wolf lay down in the grass as Bitey began sneaking towards one of the animals nearest the river. At the last moment he jumped forward and yelled. The animal jumped a foot in the air and fell into the river. Bitey sniggered and turned back to Seffanee.

The she-wolf watched, entertained as the small blue-black creatures ganged up on Bitey and soon he was fighting all five of them off on the riverbank. Seffanee was pretty sure he could take care of himself, and it was his own fault they were beating him in the first place, so she left him to it. She’d step in if it got nasty, but until then;

Maybe it’ll teach him to not be so daft…

After a few seconds of Bitey getting pummelled, three of the five creatures went to dogpile him, only to find Bitey had disappeared. On the slope near the tree line, the she-wolf picked up her head, her ears pricked forward.

Wow, he’s fast.

Bitey stood on the other side of the river. For a moment he and the five creatures stared at each other, and then Bitey put his head down and charged, zooming across the river so fast that he created two gouges in the bank, throwing mud and grass everywhere.

The creatures scattered, Bitey caught one by the tail, did a cartwheel and slam-dunked it into the river. The other four took refuge in a nearby tree and they and the wolf watched Bitey jump into the water, dunk his head and then begin drinking.

Seffanee noticed the creatures laughing first. She stood up, feeling something was off and trotted a few steps towards the river. A sour smell mixed with water hit her full in the nose and she wrinkled her muzzle at the unpleasantness. That smelt an awful lot like…

Oh…

The she-wolf set her ears back and cringed. Bitey seemed to have just realised as well. He retched and then proceeded to scramble out of the river and throw up. The wolf pitied him, she really did.

Poor mite.

She was about to go and make sure he was alright when she saw the five, blue-black creatures congregate on her side of the river. They made some kind of squeaking-grating sound and began moving toward Bitey. Bitey was completely ignorant to this, he was too preoccupied with vomiting. Seffanee saw it and growled. Bitey may have been a rotten little snit when he wanted to but he didn’t deserve to be attacked while he was being sick.

With a snarl the wolf bounded down the slope and placed herself between the five creatures and Bitey. She hunched her shoulders as he fur stood on end and showed her teeth, growling. The creatures kept coming. The wolf snapped her teeth. They weren’t deterred.

Finally they all leapt forward and attacked, but their target had switched from Bitey to the wolf and they were all over her, two of them wrapped themselves around her legs, two were around her neck, tugging painfully at her ears while the last one pulled her tail.

The wolf let out a snarling roar and swung around, trying to catch one. The only one she could get at was the one on her tail and it didn’t take long for her to close her flashing teeth on it. The she-wolf bit down hard, the creature squealed and let go, the other four chattered as Seffanee shook herself to dislodge them and she closed her jaws on another of the remaining four. It squealed and let go as well. But it was only when she scratched a third with a hind leg was she released and the five things disappeared into the river. The wolf growled and licked a paw before seeing to Bitey. He didn’t look to well. He was sort of pale and shivery. Seffanee whined and pawed at him. Bitey shivered to himself.

The wolf lay down beside him and curled her warm stomach and tail around him, licking his hands and nuzzling at his face. Bitey cuddled up to the warm, furry wolf, feeling horribly sick. He whined and laid his head against the wolf’s stomach. Seffanee rested her muzzle across his back, she let out a hissing breath between her teeth.

It looked like Bitey was going to be a bit more of a pawful then she’d first thought… She felt a tug on her fur and picked her head up. He muttered something Seffanee couldn’t quite understand but gathered it meant something along the lines of ‘thank you’. She growled kindly in answer.

“Bad Prowlies.” Bitey muttered. The she-wolf flicked an ear. Prowlies were probably what the things were called.

Well then just let those ‘Prowlies’ mess with me again…

Bitey was very quiet after the Prowlie incident. He spent more of his time relaxing in the sun with the wolf these days. He kept calling her ‘nice Seffanee’. The wolf didn’t expect it to last long but it was pleasant while it did.

Bitey seems to be losing his character with 'Seffanee' but wonderful as always, keep up the brilliant work and good luck to the next part.

Bitey never was totally evil, so it's at least somewhat believable to me that he's changing his personality with some nurturing and companionship. Though it does seem to be happening a bit too easily. Still, it's your story, and I like everything else about it. Looking forward to more!

Fan fictions are awesome. I wish I had more time to write them. I started writing a Beast Wars fan fiction once, but I never finished it. It was too bad, because I had a great start. Oh well, maybe I'll finish it some day.

Thanks medved! :D
Yeh, you’re right Turnip05…:yfok: Urg, not good, but I think swartxer is right too, but I will watch the Brackenwood flashes again, study the character a bit more. But I reckon Bitey’s becoming a bit more less downright nasty now because he has a ‘parent’ figure to keep him in check…
Hey swartzer, that’s what I was thinking. Well that’s the impression I got when I read Adam’s Brackenwood site. But it is happening a bit too quickly, don’t worry though, he’s still got a few more attitude kinks to iron out…:D
LOL Rick1! :D Now I can pay my characters for being so well behaved.
Heh heh Charlie, I know, I’ve got some to finish as well. And I tried to write a BW fic as well. *shakes fist* And I’ll finish it too!… Erm…sorry, ‘bout that…:yfok:
LOL medved and Turnip! Ok, ok, here ‘s the next bit, sorry it took so long, writer’s block is starting to make an appearance…:yfok:

Part 14

The she-wolf crouched in a bush next to a waterfall. Under her paws was warm, smooth white rock and she was watching in complete fascination as a small, white bug drifted down through the air and was eaten by what looked like a plant.

When it had snapped up the bug it rolled over and two snail-like eyes popped into view. The thing pattered up the rocks and then began flapping it’s umbrella-like body and flew off. Seffanee followed it with her muzzle until it was out of sight. The wolf got up and shook herself, turning she trotted back into the woods. Time to find Bitey.

She was just crossing one of the expansive grasslands of Brackenwood when a splodge of moving colour caught her attention. She turned and watched a small, orange speck moving out of the trees and out into the prairie. The wolf stood and watched it for a moment, tail lazily held down and swaying, ears erect. After a moment she lost interest and after sniffing the air turned and started trotting again.

She found Bitey throwing stones at birds hidden in the undergrowth. She growled at him but he ignored her disapproval and threw another rock. The bird it hit squawked and went silent. Bitey, looking smug turned and stalked off. Suddenly he jumped and his eyes bugged out in panic. Seffanee opened her mouth and laughed as wolves do.

There was a fat, black spider with orange eyes sitting in the middle of it’s web and Bitey was staring wide-eyed at it. The she-wolf almost didn’t believe it. Bitey was afraid of spiders? She watched him pick up a stick and poke at the spider. She also watched a small leaf drift down from the tree tops and brush Bitey’s shoulder. He made a panicked ‘eeeeee’ sound and jumped back, slapping frantically at what he thought was a spider. The wolf laughed silently again. She laughed harder when the stick Bitey had poked the arachnid with flew up in the air and came down on him. Bitey shrieked and fled.

The spider looked unimpressed but the wolf, laughing to herself, followed Bitey. It took her a while to find him, but when she did the wolf groaned and growled in annoyance. A small Bigfoot, just as high as her own shoulder was fleeing as fast as it could from Bitey, who was walking casually after it. Seffanee made a hoarse cough sound that was something like a bark to get Bitey’s attention. He either didn’t hear her or ignored it.

Seffanee started forward when Bitey began tormenting the small orange fuzzball creature but slowed her pace when the littleFoot’s eyes suddenly went from red to a furious green and it jumped forward and attacked Bitey by itself. The wolf rolled onto her back, waving her legs in the air and laughing as Bitey bounced around trying to get it off. When he did, he and the littleFoot only stared at each other for a second before Bitey shot away and stopped near Seffanee and the wolf heard a Bigfoot roar. She rolled over and sat up quickly, ears up.

The Bigfoot picked up it’s young and began to leave. The wolf groaned when Bitey picked up a handful of grass and zipped towards the pair of them.

Idiot!

The grass hit the Bigfoot in the face and Bitey jumped back next to the she-wolf, he cackled then flicked his hand with a pffft and turned away. The she-wolf’s eyes widened when she saw the Bigfoot pick up one of the huge white rocks littering the plains. She yowled to warn Bitey. Bitey turned and laughed silently as he saw the littleFoot picked up a smaller rock. The expression changed as fast as a butterfly's wings flapping, and he jumped out of harm’s way as the bigger rock hit the ground where he had just been. The ground vibrated wildly and the wolf felt the shaking all through her legs and paws.

Bitey perched on top of the rock and put his arms above his head, showing off…until the smaller rock hit him smack in the face. Seffanee sighed.

When will he ever learn?

With another sigh she watched the two furry Bigfeet disappear into the wood and trotted over to Bitey. He was slumped in a very painful looking position behind the rock. The wolf put her jaws gently around his neck and rolled him onto his back. She pawed his face and made a quiet sound to try and wake him. When it didn’t work the wolf let an annoyed breath from her nose and lay down.

I don’t know about you but I’m kinda unhappy with this chapter, but I dunno what to do with it otherwise, so I’m leaving it. Other then that Yu-Yu’s next chapter and Seffanee’s darker side is revealed…cue ominous music.

ya this part wasn't as good but it was good none the less. i can't wait to see Seffanee’s darker side is revealed. and a question: is it Seffanee or Steffanee? I know its Seffanee when bitey talks but somtimes when he is not talking you still put Seffanee.

Yeh I know, only Auld Sage calls her Steffany, but I think it's just a bit too human, and she likes being called Seffanee better, she feels it who she really is. Sorry for the confusion... :worry: :yfok:

And I really didn't think this bit turned out too well either...sigh :yfok:

Part 15

Towards evening the she-wolf began to get worried, Bitey still hadn’t woken up yet and that really couldn’t be a good thing. The moon rose and only his chest moved as he breathed.

Seffanee laid her muzzle on her paws and pulled her ears back slightly. Her eyes drifted closed and she was on the verge of sleep when yet again she heard the chant in the night that made her fur stand up on end.

Yu-yu yu-yu yu-yu yu-yu yu-yu yu-yu…

The she-wolf sprang to her paws, her body shaking from suppressed adrenaline. Shadows, dark and with white eyes were appearing, they spoke to each other in a language the wolf couldn’t understand and their eyes flashed different colours in rapid sequences. The wolf growled angrily.

The shadows, far from being afraid seemed to find the she-wolf amusing and they came closer until they were circled around the she-wolf and Bitey. Seffanee lowered her head slightly and bared her fangs, another growl rumbling in her ribs, ears up and stiff tail, straight out behind. And still they kept coming.

The wolf began to panic, they weren’t in the least bit bothered with her or her threats, they kept coming closer and she sensed that it was not her that they wanted, but Bitey. She suddenly seemed to hear Auld Sage’s voice in her head;

Protect him from the shadow people. They will steal him if you don’t. But you have a power inside you, to repel them.

Seffanee stood over Bitey, the shadow people would have to get through her first if they wanted Bitey. She snarled, low and deep. At last the shadows halted, unfortunately it was only to pause a second before coming again.

In desperation the wolf lifted her muzzle to the new, full moon and that high, wailing cry, desperate but filled with anger and challenge tore at the sky and soared about the trees. The wolf howl quivered with its ancient power, a song as old as the world. The shadows screeched like claws scarping on rock and they clapped their hands over their ears as pain ripped through their bodies.

The she-wolf’s howl stopped in surprise and the hair on her neck rose as the shadows shrieked. After a moment they grew silent, their eyes flashed furiously and they seemed to close in more around the wolf and Bitey.

But Seffanee knew their weakness now and she howled again, challenging them to come closer. Her warm breath smoked in the cool night air.

XX

The Yu-Yu’s screamed as the wolf call cut through them and then they vanished, like snuffed candle flames. Their cries were extinguished as they were thrown from the waking world to their own dark realm, not destroyed, but al least beaten back.

XX

Seffanee’s howl faded and she looked around. They were gone. No trace of the shadow people were left though she scented the grass where they had been. Growling uneasily the wolf shook herself but turned quickly as Bitey finally stirred, her opened his eyes and sat up, blinking groggily.

The wolf looked at him with glowing eyes before turning away and looking warily over the innocent, moonlit grasslands on Brackenwood. There was more to this place then met the eye. There was an enemy here. One she didn’t understand.

And if you cant understand an enemy, how can you hope to fight it?

XX A few days later XX

Time passed and a change came over the she-wolf. She became restless and the times she would curl up to Bitey or generally be affectionate became less and less. Instead she became more wild, a madness ran through her veins and more and more she stalked Brackenwood alone and the small creatures would shiver at the thought of a new dark shadow that prowled the darkness and pounced silently with a flash of gleaming teeth.

In truth the she-wolf was suffering for being the only wolf in Brackenwood. She thought more often of her pack and she would growl, angry and bitter and then even Bitey would not come near.

Seffanee was lost, deep under layers and layers of wild she-wolf that drove her to survive and fed her deepest urges and instincts, she yearned to be among other wolves and the natural violence to assert her place in the pack rose in her, along with the need to find a mate.

But there was no pack, no wolves, and the bitter loneliness and frustration added to her wildness. Many nights Bitey would sit in his tree and wait for the wolf to come home, and she never did, but he heard her howls, so pained and so miserable. Bitey at first had ungrudgingly given the she-wolf space and time to herself but as the wolf became only increasing wild and unapproachable he began to feel worried. He didn’t know what was wrong with the wolf. He thought maybe it had something to do with that day, when he’d been unconscious until nightfall.

Something had happened to Seffanee then, something that had changed her. It had not been the same wolf he had known before that looked at him when he’d woken. Looked at him with grave, gleaming eyes that were not familiar.

Or maybe, he worried, the she-wolf was sick. It wasn’t until he saw what she did to a herd of Wizzals did he realise how sick…

The wolf had once again been hunting, she hadn’t invited Bitey along as she normally did but he’d followed anyway. They’d found the group of Wizzals browsing among the forest trees and the wolf, completely disregarding everything she knew about the hunt, had charged them unthinkingly. The Wizzals had fled and the wolf, instead of giving up, she ran them down, chasing them like a demon with glowing eyes and slick fangs.

Eventually the Wizzals, driven by utter terror, were trapped in a small gully, unable to escape the carnage to follow as the wolf slaughtered every last one of them. She was among them in a moment, rending and destroying until every Wizzal that had entered the gully was a bloody corpse.

When Bitey caught up with the wolf, he found her surrounded by her grisly trophies, the bleeding remains of the mutilated Wizzals. Her eyes glittered savagely and her clenched teeth were bared. Every exhaled breath came forth as a low, furious growl. And then she’d howled, a blood curdling howl that froze Bitey’s heart.

Bitey shivered every time he thought of that howl issuing from the blood stained muzzle. That hadn’t been a hunt, it had been a massacre and Bitey knew then, just how sick Seffanee was. She needed help.

Bitey had never asked for guidance before, he’d never needed too, but the very next day he went to the pink house, perched in a stunted tree, where the witch of Brackenwood lived.

XX A little later, somewhere deep in Brackenwood XX

The she-wolf that had once been known as ‘Steffany’ paced restlessly, she needed to find an outlet for all the pent up energy and violence. At that moment she would have fought a Bigfoot, even if it meant getting killed. She chewed at pebbles and fallen tree branches and scraped furiously at the grass before breaking off and pacing like a tiger in a cage again. Her mind was in turmoil, there was not a coherent thought in her brain. Just madness and the most primordial instincts.

She spun around and snarled when she heard the brush rustling behind her. But it was only Bitey that pushed his way through the leaves. He watched the wolf and she watched him warily. Bitey put out a hand invitingly,

“Seffanee.” He said and moved forward a bit, but the wolf crouched, ready to spring and growled. Bitey paused. Lemonee Wee had given him a small packet of powered leaves and berries and bark. She’d said it would calm the wolf down and let her think rationally. She’d explained to Bitey that the wolf was missing her own kind and that she was feeling the urge to fight for supremacy and get a mate. She couldn’t do either, so her violence came out in other forms. The massacre of the Wizzals for one thing. But the small sachet of medicine should cool the fever in her blood to a bearable level. The only hard bit, was the get her to swallow it…

Cajoling hadn’t worked so Bitey did the only thing that seemed right. Using his phenomenal speed he jumped high and landed on the wolf, pinning her to the ground as he sat on her and fumbled to get hold of her mouth. The wolf fought like a thing possessed and let loose a heart-wrenching howl, but Bitey managed to keep her down and wrench open her mouth while he forced the dissolvable sachet down her throat. He closed the wolf’s strong, wicked jaws and rubbed her throat until she swallowed. As soon as she did she stopped fighting and her head drooped, the drug all but knocking her out.

Bitey slowly climbed off the limp wolf and lowered her muzzle to the ground. The wolf looked at him with wide, yellow eyes. They seemed so young and fragile and she whined pitifully. Bitey sat with her, just out of reach until she was able to move again. The feverish light in her wolf eyes had died to the merest flicker, almost going out.

Seffanee was Seffanee again, she was back to herself and all the better for it. She crept up to Bitey, ears lowered, body low, tail curled slightly between her legs, just as if she had been approaching a dominant wolf. She whined again and licked Bitey’s hand. Bitey put his arms around her neck and rubbed his cheek in her fur and made a sound of relief.

Author’s Note
I taking some serious artist’s licence next chapter…I’ve read a few posts on would Bitey ever have a romantic interest. And someone said that Mr Adam said there wouldn’t be any female satyr-things, so I’ve come up with something…we’ll be seeing it next chapter…actually, come to think of it, I wouldn’t call it a ‘romantic’ interest exactly…:yfok:

I have scanned this site for a long time tonight, being my first night, and I have spent most of it reading this story, I have to say.. that if you and Mr. Adams were to team up.. you'd both be living in a mansion somewhere =p You both think up things, him animating, you both becoming billionaires, I've loved every part of the story, for me theres no need for crtisizme (I cant spell) Because each person thinks differently, if you dont think something is right it doesnt mean it isnt, it means that you think differently, and thats why I have stuck to this site, the language is different =P And sorry for getting off topic XD I just had to release it, like Seffanee's urges

*sniffle* Have I told you guys that I love you?

Lol, thanks for the comments guys, I'm sorry I haven't replied sooner, my internet died and I've only just managed to fix it up again, and my writing's taken a beating because of it <_< ah well, anyway, I will get the next bit up soon, but first I just want to respond to all you absolutely spiffing thoughts. :D

Thanks as always medved, I was very pleased with this particularly part and I'm glad you like it too. :D

LOL Turnip05! I suddenly have mental images of Bitey with a rose and trying to be amourous, LOL! I think I chose rather bad wording with 'romantic'...hrm...well I can't think of anything better, but you'll understand what I mean next chapter. :D

Hee hee Rick1, how d;you know I'm not already? ;) Although to be truthful I'm only using this to try a new style, using colour and perceptions more then dialogue, just for a change of pace, yer know. And thanks for the Kudos, my fic employees were on the verge of strike... :yfok: And of course you can use them...just give me alllllll the credit...oh, and you have to pay me. Lol, jokin'. Have fun using them.

Eraisuithon, welcome to the story my friend, and I'm thrilled you liked it. :D Lol on me and Adam teaming up, :D wouldn't mind being filthy rich actually. No problem about going off topic, you made me smile. :D But I think Mr Philips has plenty of ideas without my help, very nice of you to say I've got that kind of quality though. :D I've always been a wolf fan too...although, considering my name, avatar and sig, maybe that's obvious. :D And I'll let you in on a secret, Seffanee is actually sorta based on my insane and rather idiotic dog, Jinx, although Jinx is a lot more dorky then Seffanee... :yfok:
