@ Master Rade; ...how the heck is that considered porn?

umm...I think something got lost in translation....damn language barriers.....

but yeah...that looks cool rade....is that your sweeeet heart :P ....i like the background :)

No clue how its considrt porn but Image shack is is slow and its only speeds are slow and stop.
Yea she is nice and all. Its a cool friend/love typ of thing. The background is made up of colors that consit of our flags and I just scribble around and mostly play around with the brush settings to get that typ of look.
Get a better closer shot in my Deviant account.zoom in

As for you Psybola. Those bunnys have made me wonder? :o Whats going on with you and the bunnys. ;) Na but for real that img looks great. Have to say your good woth Corel. You could do more with it. Bright up the sky with shooting stars or add something else.

Shenorai your character gives my insperation to draw more werewolfs. You go Girl. Cant really say much since I know litttle on drawing well wolfs but im still working on it. Like most people would say. "make fur random" I on the other hand like it better if the fur has a certain flow. Like if it was hair and it was our doo.
Other then the shadow. The outfit is something I most enjoy since not everyday I see a woredrow like that. The Gloves are cool.

Last but not least, you Erska. Have done some great works.
The kitty cat is well done. Just that it does not have that cute look. Kinda looks like if It came out of the wash and now is upset. Poor kitty.
um.... yea well beside the face expression. The kitty is super. Good job on the eyes and their the biggest so far I have seen or made in the forum.

Wow, that looks very nice. I love the moody sepia tones, and the jagged hard shadows give me the willies. What's going on there?

You've got a minor anatomical problem with the shoulder and the feet are a tad too small, but other than that it's brilliant.

yeah i always had a problem with those feet, thanks for clarifying it, now i dont feel like it was only me. yeah i do also see the problematic shoulder, how it kind of looks like it was drawn from a different angle to the neck.
thanks for the critique, aghenfil. ;)

oh, and about the shadows, the idea of the drawing was to show a man being taunted by his shadow, as if the shadow had a mind of its own, almost peter pan style, except the shadow of this particular character cannot move from him.
i hope it all makes sense.

Hey fatty,

First let me say how fun it is to (finally) justifiably type that salutation :D

Second, that background is awesome. So moody and suggesting aged, watered silk. Did you create it? If so, please do a step-by-step thread for it if you feel like sharing.

Anghelfil made some good points in her comments. I just wanted to add a couple if you don't mind.

The human forearm has two main bones, the radius and the ulna. If you hang your arm straight down by your side, your radius goes from the outside of the elbow down to the wrist, joining in line with the thumb. The ulna is the other one :)

In that pose, notice how the elbow and the wrist are perpendicular to each other (on the horizontal plane).

Now hold your arm straight out in front of you, palm up. Rotate your hand to palm down and watch the radius cross over the ulna. It is still connected to the outside of the elbow but crosses over to stay connected to the thumb-side of the wrist.

At the elbow, the radius and ulna meet with the humerus (upper arm bone). In simple terms, the radius and ulna can be thought of as holding the end of the humerus between them, like a three-part version of a door hinge. This part has limited action compared to the shoulder and wrist/hand, so we can use it as a good visual clue, a starting point when trying to figure out how the arm should be in a pose.

When you look at the bicep muscle on the inner humerus (go ahead and give your arm a right-angle flex), you can see how it narrows as it reaches the elbow. This gives you a clue as to which lines will overlap the others when drawing this area.

See if you can take what I have noted above and find compatible parts in my red sketch below. I made some sketches over other bits, too, but I'll leave those for now. Hmm.. just looking at that L leg I sketched in. I didn't get the knee cap pointing in the right direction and the hip doesn't need to stick out that far. Ignore, please!

Hope this helps.

Um... kibbles ol' pal, you've got your radius and ulna mixed up there in the picture. The radius (the bone on top when you hold your arm straight out, thumb up) is supposed to be going to the thumb, but it's connecting under the pinky finger. Same mistake with the ulna, but in reverse. Everything you SAID was correct, though.

That's what happens when you sketch first and research later!
Thanks, Anghenfil.

*edit

Here's another interpretation of that elbow. It is turned away from us more than I thought, which would also make your bicep insertion more correct than I originally said, fatty.

Nevermind the pic above. Hopefully this one is more helpful.

I just googled for that image. If you want to know human anatomy, go pick up a copy of "Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Pail Richer and a copy of "Bridgeman's Complete Guide to Drawing from Life," by George B. Bridgeman. Those plus a bit of Grey's Anatomy and Ackland's Anatomy, and some good old fashioned first-hand observation, I knew my anatomy pretty gud. :P

WOW thanks alot guys, its so awesome to be back and you guys helping me out again, you're awesome, and kib, i liked both the drawings you did to help me out, they both enlightened me more in the ways of anatomy, ahh enlightened. well i would also love to say that i used some amazing way to create my background, but to be honest it was just a bunch of textures that i liked and blended together, mainly concrete images if i recall correctly. if you like i could re-think which ones they were and post them up?

oh and the vertical lines were just vertical grain textures (as you most likely already knew).
and thanks also for that arm photograph, i had never really gotten the way of the arm before now ;)
thanks everyone :D

But good practice with scanned drawings. And painting.

And if the dumb "forbidden link" shows up again, they are lying. Just go to the image source if so.

I've finally finished this thing... i had to scan it in two parts, so that explains the lines... my scanner also sucks, so that explains some of the contrast problems. The original looks much better.

C&C please :D

Some good volume shading going on there, TC. While the parts of the hand may not appear to match in terms of perspective/scale (thumb:fingers:palm), each section on its own shows a lot of concentrated effort to reproduce what you see. The structure is there and the flesh is attached where it should be. Did you draw your own L hand from life? It's a really good effort and I hope we see more of this from you. You are on the way, sir! :)

Here is a post that might help you with recalcitrant scanners.

Yep... i'm guessing the main reason why the proportions aren't right is because i just started drawing stright from the wrist... i didn't set down any basic shapes before i started...

and i just realized, on the index finger (between the scissor handles), i accidentally made a thick line on the edge of a shadow, which makes the finger look a lot smaller than it should.

Thanks, though, Kib. I appreciate it.

I feel to post it cause it's the first time I paint something like this and it took me more than a week! I literally died on this drawing!
hope you will like it!
