Thanks, Tommo. It's from a pic I took of a larger sculpture that has many bodies all intertwined and overlapping. On the site I linked to there is actually a photo of the whole sculpture and you can kind of see the bit I drew. Here it is outlined in red:

If anyone drops by Firenze (Florence) you really, really should see this place. Especially if, as I know many of you do, you have an interest in animal and human anatomy and structure.

I was in Firenze last year, really cool place - too bad my brother and sister were whining all the time to get back to the appartment, they seemd to be more interested in wasting their time at the swiming pool (I mean, without swimming...) <_<

Here's our furry little friend, posted him at the sketchthread a few days ago, decided to color him. Was fun.

Yes, a frikkin Dutch... wondering I could screw around with the flag, like turn him into a pirate or something
It's gonna get masked and put onto a flyer allong with some manupilated backgrounds, reason there's no cast shadow from the object.

oh so those feet under the man must of been from some other person...

those wax things are so amazing, some of them are like perfectly realistic, even down to like pores on the skin.... i never had the opportunity to go to a wax museum before tho, we had one in melbourne but then the bulldozed it i think.... :( :wbitey:

i think thats a ver nice picture but, i think since u were only doing one little tny part of the eniter human body, u could take the time to draw the pores aswell, they are very simple and add lots more detail! :D
and the shine in the eye could be brighter, eye brows softer, sorry for bluntness but i gotta be quik with this post i gotta go. overall its a nice pic tho!

Love the eye Tom, amazing detail. Great work on the highlights and details! I'd try to give a more constructive crit, but that eye is way beyond my ability.

Awesome job on the perspective Munch! Did you have reference, or is that off the top of your head?

ACHTUNG!! EXPLIZIT Material!!

"Gorgeous Gorgon"

This began when my girlfriend drew me an outline of this pretty medusa figure. I decided it was so good I would finish it up in colored pencil. When I scanned it in, I started retouching it, then decided I might as well redo the whole damn thing. Before I knew it, I was spending hours on end with Photoshop and my Wacom. This is the best digital painting I've done; it's reset my painting standards and I really like it.

Comments and crits are welcome, but I'm not going to change the pic anymore- it's done.

I really wish I could put up a bigger size image, the original image is 2000 pixels high but I can't put anything near that size on Photobucket...

Shit son, that's uber-talented. She's got a nice rack on her too. :P

I'd push her lights and darks on the edges a little more, but she's looking pretty darn good to me.

Yeah, the shadows were actually deeper until I did the steam layers on top. So I went back and erased a little bit more of the steam so you could see the figure better.

Still as Explizit as before

can we see a closeup of them? =)

Here are a few closeups all at 100%

The whole image took about 15ish hours, but I wasn't counting. I don't know how long the snakes themselves took, but I can explain how I did them.

I started by using the pen tool to make a work path which had about 1/4 of the snakes on it. When I finished the lines, I Right-clicked and did "Stroke Path" with a reglar solid circle brush with the only change being that I had Pen Pressure on and the minimum diameter was about 75%. I repeated the same process for the next quarter of snakes on another layer, etc until there were 4 layers of snakes.

Then I used Layer Styles to easily get the majority of the lighitng out of the way. A simple Bevel was all that was required- I simply tweaked the highlight and shadow colors/opacities to my preference. Now I just wanted to work with individual pixels, so I would right-click the "f" style thing on each of the 4 layers and click "Create Layer." This would make a pixel layer for the color, one for the shadow of the Bevel, and one for the highlight. I went to each snake layer and painted on some head shapes. Then to make them look all entangled, I made a mask for each layer to easily make it so some snake were intertwining over other ones. Then I would go around on the highlight layer erasing where there shouldn't be light [ie: where the snake went behind something blocking light]. Similarly I also added shadow where it needed to be on the shadow layers. Then I obviously merged all the snake layers when I finished this so I didn't have to worry about all that mess. >__o

The scale effect [for both the medusa body and snakes] was acheived by finding a snakeskin texture online and filling a layer with it. Actually, first I saved a .psd with just the layer I wanted to texture [the snake layer for example]. Then in the orginal .psd, I had my texture filled layer and went to Filter>Distort>Displace and selected the .psd to make the scales warp to the form of the figure. Then I Ctrl+clicked the snake layer and made a mask with the selection on the texture layer [so it only textured the snake, duh] and set Blending mode to Soft Light at 50%.

The eyes were simple enough- just spots with inner and outer glow styles applied. I also did some orange painting for light reflecting off the snakes near the glowy lines.
