Great picture. Her boobs are too high and pushed apart, but other than than she looks great.

Look at some pictures of bird wings too... you generally don't construct the feather patterns as well as they could be. Your feathers tend to be too long and pronounced starting too high on the wing.

pretty cool drawing, with all its coolitudes n such. one question; why is he so happy to be in such a life or death situation? not that im suggesting change in that area, just wondering. oh i just thought of a second question, how about making little craters where the lasers hit before? it kinda looks like the thing is strafing so it coulda damaged the brick road in some way. well anyway, its pretty sweeticool as it is

Sneaky,

You should change your name to Geekyrobot! That's a great point with the strafing potholes. I'm gonna use it! As for his smile...he's impish, elfish, a mischievious little bastard on the run from the powers that be. Kind of in the vein of an antihero like Lupin or Future Boy Conan. Running from life or death situations can be fun...or simply amusing. :bing:

Damn sharkcellar, you've done a lot of work on that piece.. I remember when it was only a sketch, those were the days :P

electricgnort, the coloring is fine. The drawing itself is fantastic. Big burly man right there.

Now here's my art... its some characters from an animation I'm working on with a friend of mine. He designed the original character years ago (very sloppy kid drawing) and I've been redrawing it for him so we can animate it. The animation is gonna be a goofy one. It'll probably be kinda like Ren and Stimpy and very random. Alright here it is:

Working on rendering. I'll admit this was heavily inspired by Humble's robot painting that he did a while back, as well as a lot of the steampunk entries from google earth.

0.3 mm mechanical HB pencil cleanup (I'll never use 0.3 mm again^^. I took ages to clean up. I'll stay with 0.7mm like I usaly do from now on)

Haha, awesome Arthur.
BTW, is grandma a subtle hint for MOTMs? Cuz she looks abit like you-know-what...

Like the way you've combined the cell-shaded painted style.
Just wondering, do you ever paint traditionally?

Arthur that is fucking brilliant!!!

I love it!! Have you thought about animating it? Please do, cuz it would be absoultey amazing.

As for those mechanical pencils. What was the problem with the clean up? and what type of pencils would you recommend for drawing and sketching. All my life I have just tried to use a 2B pencil, and never worried about the make or if its "0.3mm" or "0.7mm" etc. So in other words...explain lol. If it makes drawing better, im all for it!

Maby when I finish graduating that animationschool =p (wich I havent even started yet) There's no way I could make something like that in flash. Maby if the flash pencil tool was more like the one in sketcbook pro=)
Or if I just did the whole thing traditionaly =P

The problem with the cleanup on such a thin pencil was that the lines got realy shaky(atleast compared to 0,7mm) and almost got stuck on the paper surface while I was drawing. The 0,7 just glides over the paper more smoothly without getting stuck. And I just think it's easier to make a clean looking line when it's thicker.
It's alot faster too with a thicker pencil.
I just wanted to try out 0,3mm because Ive been looking at Evana's drawings and her ultraclean traditionaly drawn lines. I have no idea what pencil she use, but it's realy thin and clean. Alot thinner than this.

Arthur, you are a goddess. I love this picture and I love you and I want to cut off your and Humble's hands, make babies with the hands, and attach Arthur-Dave freaky hybrid hands in the place of my old knobs. It would be fantastic.

Edit: I love how you played with the structure on the old woman. Her chin almost goes down to her sternum and it still looks awesome.

May I suggest cast shadows for the spaceship, the guy running and the vehicle? The moonlight seems intense enough to be able to cast maybe light shadows....& Sneakyrobot had a good idea about adding some spots in the pavement where the blasters might have already hit....of course it's always possible to not draw the line on a project and keep adding to it. Looks good already!

And Comlock....christ....if you keep pumping this stuff out & making posters out of them, I'm going to be broke! :P
In all seriousness, I'd posterize that beauty for certain.

Damn Arthur, how long did that take you to make from start to finish? You've inspired me to draw/digitally paint something like this, maybe over the weekend. Really nice drawing, quite amazing how much your stuff has developed over the last year or so.

Thanx=)
I did the sketch and inking in one day. No breaks, so I lost track of time there.
prob around 1.5 - 3 hours
Did the colouring some days after. 3-5 hours something..

I think the boy and the vehicles should be in a more bluer tone, since that is the overall palette in the pic. (If you have them i a seperate layer, jut go to colour adjustments and add more blue) They dont seem to quite fit in right now. And I did some more gradient shading here and there, and a shadow of the UFO in the background.
More buildings in the distance. (blended more into the sky colour the further away it gets)

quick overpaint suggestion. The palette might be to boring right now though I think^^
