Thanks man I think the whole Disney trip really spurred my determination and understanding that practice makes perfect I mean there I saw artists that were in their mid 30s drawing what I so stupidly wished I could be drawing at my current age. again, remember this, dont get discouraged, I used to, but not after I learnt they had been drawing for longer than I had been alive, just PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!! |

Ravenseye, One of the things that sticks out to me it the background elements. They seem to be a little off, like they were just stuck on. Especially the water. There is no indication of an edge to it. By adding some vegetation, a few rocks, maybe a pier, anything to give it some depth. I also think the group of trees on the left side should be bigger, as they are closer to the foreground. The bottoms of the trees have the same problem as the water, by adding a few small details this scene would really come to life. Speaking of life adding a few animals would do wonders for it too, maybe a deer drinking water, and a couple of birds. Oh and maybe some clouds too. These are just suggestions of course but I think it would add a lot to the picture. |

i like the picture Raven, it has a strong personality. but there are things you need to learn. as i told zgigity a while ago, dont make the forest a sqaure, and a the terrain under it flat. make diffrent trees so you dont get the large greencloud, include some pines in there man! the mountains, normaly mountains are friggin huge. and have a very large distance from flat terrain like that. i can see that the mountains are small because of the size of the trees next to them compared to those in the front. ![]() if your picture has a depth like that, it has to look like this from the side. what you should do is change the color of the grass, gradiently towards the mountains. the reason that causes your problem with the depth is the horizon. the horizon would fit better if it was at the same hight as the eyes, thats why its also called the eye line. your probably tired of working on the picture? so your probably going to leave it. but as Kib said "You have nothing to lose but inexperience!" so if youll continue trying to get the depth rigth, youll improve, and people like me dont need to tell you this again.

haha yeah i was afraid the guy looked like a giant compared to the rest of the stuff. Also when i started this off i just took the guy and made him i had no intentions on making background but i figured i would for expierence and already i know how i would make it different if i started this picture over again. (edit) I plan on making a little drop off looking thing like you said espen ... ill repost once ive done that (edit) |
