Here's a few images I found in my photobucket album, both are a few months old.

For this I was trying my hand at anime style drawing.

My only problem is with the thumb. It looks like it's coming right out of the handle.

Well, my other problem is that it's anime (:yfok:) but that was your goal, so i'll let it slide ;)

I don't remember. The character pictures I was using were from PC gamers who had heavily modded their characters so it is possible that it was an all new armor.

Anime's not my favorite either, but I was taking request and the guy who made that character was really into anime. You're right about the thumb by the way, but since the picture wasn't my idea in the first place I'm not gonna go back and fix it :P

Nice mal! I like wallpapers, speaking of which, Ranoka, that is really good! Like your other one, that one looks like it would make a good wallpaper.

Both of you keep up the awesome work! ^_^

Thanks man. He's one of many inspirations..
That pic was just a tiny one in the corner of my sketchbook which I didn't think would amount to anything. But i'm glad someone liked it. :D

Although the already shown version holds a special place in my heart, I've desaturated the image.

This should help it meld together better with the male ninja pic. See? Lookit that.

Thank god I still have the saturated version saved, though.

I took a Drawing&Composition class at Academy of Art University over the summer. This was my final piece for the exhibition. The reference is here.

Thanks, tommo.
The image also got a little distorted because I had to take a photo of my drawing. Oh well, what canya do...

A shammy is a piece of deerskin [actually it's prolly synthetic most of the time] that you use to lightly take of a layer of charcoal, or to smudge around. It's like using the eraser tool at 30% opacity. You can get a 6x6" square at an art store for about $8-10, or you can go to your local auto shop and get a 4x4' one for $4-6. Then just cut it up into smaller pieces, and you've saved a bunch o money.

ps- Drawing bullet chains is hard!

Bardaux, that's fantastic. Great control with the charcoal... It would drive me up the wall trying to do something that precise with vine. I especially love the shadow and light across his nose and lips. Nice attention to the highlights on the bandolier (bullet chain :P).

I might have changed the shape of his hair slightly to be less flat on top, but it's otherwise great.

Thanks!
It just so happens for lucky you that I finished another today, in fact. I felt kinda sick one day, so my girl dropped by and gave me some flowers [a little backwards, I know]. I don't know what to do with flowers, so I decided to draw one. Then it spawned into a setup with a knife, etc etc... Then I decided to have the rose bleeding, but obviously they don't, so if there's anything wrong with the blood it's because I drew it out of my head. Then to make it stand out more, I watered down some acrylic red a little bit and painted the blood [I remembered my art teacher using that technique]

k, here 'tis!

haha, no, I've not always been as good at drawing as I am now, but it has been something that I've always enjoyed!
But by drawing lots and taking classes whenever they show up, I have gotten better recently. And if you can't find any classes, teach yourself! I spent the last few years learning everything I knew by looking 'round on the internet and figuring out stuff on my own.

I have a number of drawing exercises from the class. Maybe I will photograph them and put them in Daily Sketch thread soon...

I like this sketch... I can really feel gay sound of a dial-up connection connecting to the internet. I think you've got something when you can connote a sound and feeling with nothing more than a still image. ;)
