Awesome lines! But it seems the hair is the only thing that doesn't have a shadow!

:gasp:

Mokey-

Where those done in MS paint? If so, pretty good for that. Since your a beginner (dont take it as a insult, we all where!) Ide suggest drawing from around you, sketch something in your room, draw your family, buy a sketchbook and filler up! Then post in here!

Keep it up :D

Gobi-

Crazy and goofy as always i see :P

Silver-

Thats GREAT for mouse work, but if it isn't finished. Why not post it in the Watcha workin on? thread?

Also, wheres the green light commin from? Ive noticed that alot lately, scottsman's fro dude, and now your face! Aliens are invading i tells ya!

My only crits are: Finish it!

Mystical-

I actually really like this, the framing and the colors mesh really well. And pointless violence is always great.

Hoodles-

Nice. Now draw it freehand :)

Really good Cantdraw, My only crit is that the skin lacks tone variety, my most educated guess is that you painted a base color with highlight shadow and light applied. If you did use more than a base color, you might try to bring that out a bit more. What size do you work at?

Oooh,

My first tip would be to increase your canvas size, i know comlock sometimes works at around 2000 x 2000 pixels with his big pieces, ide say for digital painting, work at LEAST at around 1000 x 1000.

If you upswing your canvas size you can work at intimate detail, so when you downsize later, it looks that much better. Ide suggest sketching it out at a lower pixel, then up size for the actual coloring and detail work.

As far as tones, there should be a minimum of 3 variations of the skin color your working with to create maximum realism. The base, saturated, and shade tones. If you keep the base tones consistent, whilst adding the saturated tones for highlight areas and blend to darker with the shade tones, you will gain a greater realism in the pigment.

Posted Image

Here is my first example (the arm in itself is shit, i just want to illustrate skin pigments here) Ive roughly laid out the base colors for you to see. B is the base color, or median color that is dominant, then the saturated (or S), which gives the skin luminosity. And the shade (or sh) which gives contrast as well as shading for the pigment. REMEMBER, this is all done WITHOUT highlights, those come after.

Posted Image

Heres are the blended tones, now you can go back over and add highlights or darken as you wish for the best effect. But getting the skin tones is the most crucial part.

I hope that helped, your painting is awesome, so remember to scale up your pics and keep workin! :wbitey:

For my school's production of The Wizard of Oz. I drew the wizard, so that's me and my friend who is playing the wizard.

The eyes are too far apart, and the surrounding area should be darker.

I know, its kinda assholish to paint over someone else's stuff, but there I went. Its usually hard to tell from a photo of a drawing what the colors are exactly, but it looks like you could do with more contrast. Since it's for a theater performance, you'll want the audience to be able to see a face rather than a grayish blob [by no means an insult to your painting so far, but most detail will be lost at a distance]. So if you're still working on it, maybe darken 'er up at the chin, below the lip, the upper lip, under brow, under nose. [Hopefully you'll be able to do better than I did between the nose and lip]

As for proportions, that stuff is always tough, but you did pretty good man. Thas what practice is for, eh?
