That monkey looks as though he's pondering something deep and thoughtful - good anthropomorphism there. Anyway, here's my most realistic looking flash drawing to date - admittedly it is partially traced (only partially - I completely changed her clothes from the original picture).

Love the texture on your painting, Villageidiot. :)

How many sittings did that take, and how long total? It's a very striking size, too, larger than scale!---- about 2 1/2 to 3' tall I'm guessing?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's a paint that took about a week to finish:

Around 8 hours total. HUGE thanks to Espen for his help on lighting.

It's still quite rough in places, and there are sore spots--- it was getting exhausting. Soon I'll have more patience and endurance for longer pieces.

Thanks C0mBineD and AK ^_^

It took near 30 hours
subtract goofing off
subtract blanking out
subtract just procrastination

Putting it to around 20-25 hours?
I did it in 1 and a half hour bursts, 5 days a week
Art class is 1.5 hours long...

so about 20 sittings....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That looks nice AK.
I think you could detail the armor more like you did on his left arm.
Other than that it looks like a nice piece.
It's finished for now, but I'll probably change the last panel some time later,
if I get around to it.
It would probably be more effective (more obvious) if someone were yawning.
I drew this picture for my art lesson. It's my vision of an Egiptian's death god Seth... took me 2 hours :P
Esn,
I like the notion you've described here.
One thing you could do is use the angle of the camera to help narrate the change in mood. You've actually done this well in the 2nd & 3rd frames, but I think if you duplicate the angle of the 3rd frame (eye-level with little angle--- establishing that there is nothing going on) to the first, it would present the similarity of each more effectively.
What I love about this piece; the paws and the fur around it! Really like how you went about doing this, just to let you know, Im not much of a Photoshop person. Im only suggesting in up coming pieces use slightly lighter darker tones or lighter hues to bring out the main around the doggy neck. Mess around now with shades, dark color which is hues, bright colors which is tints
Honestly as one of many young works to come, your on a good path so keep it up.
This to me has texture because it looks and feels so furry and fluff like ^____________^
