Jub, the upper torso need some more anatomical detailing near the neck, also the pectoral area seems to end to low. It's pretty good overall tough! |

Hehe, not sure why i didn't draw the clavicle bones...
.As far as the pecks too low,i thought it mighta looked weird because i game him such big shoulders.Hehe,i hate drawing without referances
.I think i made his torso a bit long too maybe
,I dunno hard to tell to me.I'll work on all that.Whenever i draw a person from a perspective other than a straight on one or something easy like that, proportions and stuff start to get weird.I really suck at giving pictures depth. And yeah...the hammer just really sucked  Oh hey look everybody a picture from me with no real light source again, what a suprise, hehe.I got alot of stuff to work on. |

Great warrior fellow, Jubjub-- the greasy-hair shine is a great touch!
 I'm not sure if you've been told this before, but your shading lines are absolutely perfect! They don't infringe on the character in the least! (The same is true of your other works) Might you be willing to share the secret of those lines of cleanliness?

Sure one way is when you shade around a light object, start at were the object meets and shade out.Hehe, and when all else fails 'erasers are your friend' hehe.I also use a mechanical pencil,to get more detailed pictures in a smaller surface.Although using a mechanical pencil it takes a few layers to shade in dark in which it would only take one using a normal pencil. That's why most of my stuff is always undershaded because i get one layer of shading in and get lazy and say ''that's good enough'' even though it isn't.But i've been recently finding some shortcuts for myself by using a seperate mech. pencil with soft lead just for shading. But it will just always take longer to shade because i can't cover very much surface at a time with what i use,oh well. After seeing artists like PUDDNHEAD i'm gonna stick to a mechanical pencil. But i'll always stray to other mediums so i advance somewhere no matter what. It's less discouraging that way and a nice change of pace so i don't get burned out with one thing and lose my joy in drawing
 . THE END |

i'm a bit curious if terregen renderings count as finished art.. technically, it's not you drawing the picture, you're only controlling the generator... but then it's kind of like photographs of a virtual reality...i really don't know
if it does count as art... then i've got about 7 or 8 "finished pictures" waiting to be hung out to dry

Hey bardaux,i'm diggin' the new avatar, hehe
 .That is a pretty cool lil flash loop ya got there too. Here's my drawing i did today.I dunno if i'd call it a finished picture,i suppose it is(i'm not going back and redoing anything).I was working on shading darker and trying some crosshatching to accomplish that.I'm not used to shading so much, most of my stuff is alot lighter, unless i use ink and markers.Anyways i was trying to use some of rubberhead's advice.I'm slowly gettin better at this whole drawin' thing, hehe  ![]() I was just working on drawing the skull and then i just ended up adding more and more. The skull was obviously the only referance i had,and it shows. His head looks too big,but i'll just say that he's supposed to have a big head, hehe:sigh: The words on the front of the armor say-Timor and Chaos, and the writing on his shoulder armor partially says- Manes administra.Hope ya like it .

Thanks for the comment, jubjub. I'll return the favor now. If you want a little bit of advice on shading, I find it good to lightly draw outlines for the shadows and highlights- as if there were only 3 shades of luminocity and you were merely outlining each shade. This helps you get a good idea of the overall darkness/lightness. After which when you actually start shading, you can keep each area generally dark/med/light but have slight tonal changes to define detail more. I realize I'm bad at articulating, so if I made no sense, ignore it or PM me. |

Ok,i got ya.I was wondering why in some people's drawings the shadows looked outlined. That makes sense.I'll try to plan out lighting and the shading more in the very early stages of the drawing.I'm sure everybody's told me that a million times. But old habits, sorry. |

Maybe a sample will help you remember better? Just a quick shadow and highlight mapping done in photoshop over your pic. ![]() Now after that fun, I should really be getting back to that homework that's due tomorrow... x___X" |

Looks ok. The texture thing was a good idea, but it's too strong. If you lightened the "rain" thing up a bit then it'd be better. Textures are good if they add to the image, but they can be hard to look at if they hide too much of the image's quality. |

Hey there, Jubjub, the fine detail on the armour is quite pleasing to the eye.
Also, the gorget is quite fitting! Munch, the picture is bizzare and grabs attention!-- Though I'm not quite sure by the message if apples are good or bad? I like the tecture and glow on the samurai helm, Semibrucelee! I don't think the rain looks half-bad... Now add a little rain dripping off him.

Water is a tough thing to illustrate, especially in as many instances as it comes in. When you apply the effects of rain on him, ask yourself questions about what might happen when the rain hits the area you're coloring. Here's a couple starters: -Do the drops bounce off or soak right in? -What effect does the rain have on the color of the garment? (darken or highlight) -What effect does the current lighting of the scene have on the rain/ garment? Stuff like that. I couldn't find too much on rain for your kind of scene... This is the best I could find: Ed in the rain |

the higlights and shadowing on the tree are a bit strange...ummm...it just looks like you kinda scribbled the highlights on.....they should be smoother than that... bitey's torso and down is a wee bit to poofy...heh...funny word...poofy...and his right cheek looks like it has an acorn in it or something but the colouring on bitey looks great..wouldn't change a thing... I like it though   , lookin forward to more

well, this was actually my first real time in Open Canvas and so I was having a bit of trouble with the larger shading areas. Also, I tried to bring a bit of my own style (Anime) into the drawing, giving him a cheekbone (that's why he looks like he has an acorn under his fur). Another thing was that I immagined him being much more muscular, moving around as he does, than Adam depicts him (his reason being for animation perpouses, of course) especially in the legs; so the bulging "poofyness" is a mix of large muscle mass and thick goat fur and his upper body, being human, is thin and wirey. He has no visible abdominals because most of his strength is in his upper body, calvs and thighs. ....at lest, that's how I see him being ^-^' Anyway, thanks for the comment and suggestions ^0^ |
