You'll need to go in and pixel paint that edge. Just use the pencil tool instead of the brush and clean it up with black.

while your at it colesif, make it a little bigger, like 30 x 30. let's see that big beautiful cat face :P (for the best results, shrink the original, do not make the little icon bigger)

how can I draw my own emoticon?

look at comlocks post. it gives a great explanation.

basically, you draw something in any art program. i drew my adam one in macromedia flash:

as you can see. neatness really isnt important. then you copy it to a program such as photoshop and shrink it down to an appropriate size.

after that, you'll want to grab the pencil tool and color over the anti-aliased pixels on the edges with the same color as the background. this is a great way to make videogame sprites, too. such as this:

Got a question about the forum? PM me! :)
I know where my vote's going :bing:

I'm incredibly easy to do as an emoticon. All it has to have is blue skin, a yellow halo, and tusks. Thank walrus for distinguishable features! :D

pixels are square. but not all images are square. so to smooth out the edges, some programs will anti-alias the edges of an image to smooth out the sides. this gets rid of the pixel-looking edges. however, when making an emoticon, you dont want this, because it blends with the background color and makes that distracting line of pixels around the edges. to anti-anti-alias (alias?) an image, you need to go back and erase the blur around the edges of your image

Everybody stand back! I know regular expressions!
although, admittedly, PNGs dont go well together with internet explorer.

But it serves them right for not using firefox :angry:

I don't have any BW-related emoticons yet, but I do have some tutorials that really help!

From PlanetSmilies;
http://www.planetsmilies.com/tutorials/tutorials.php

This is meant for Photoshop so I'm not sure how it'll go with Illustrator...^^;

Nice emoticons Allistair, but it's a bit hard to understand what it is if someone doesn't know Tridi's character (and the bug the is always with him). But I'm diggin' that sexy emoticon with the tusks! :D
