I think I have figured out how to find your name in sarus, you just convert what you name means into sarus.

My name for example, Michael, would might be, frt frs drl meaning "like light person" (closest I could find to 'like god'), and Adam's would be tst (ground). So Adam what do you think?

Mine is James, or 'He who supplants'. So that's Df mr smt fsm (He who over throw). Very interesting, and it may be hard to write out in letters, in glyph it's easy. (check avatar)

Whoa!!! Incredibly intriguing! Although, you could probably lose the "He who" or "She who" if you want to shorten it. Just a thought. But I'm new. Boo me out if you wish.

BTW: I love the Prowlies :++:

If I wanted my name to be Lover of Music (because that's what my life is really all about) how would you put in lover?

Love:frt

of:lf

music:mls

should I just keep it as: frt lf mls?

if love = frt, then lover = frtl, as far as I know you just tack an l onto it. I only know this because when Adam gave us Brackenwood names a while ago, mine had a frtl in it too. ;)

Hmm...my name means "warlike" in old Anglo-Saxon, lesse if the dictionary's got that...

EDIT: Lareso Falatila = aggressive attacker, me likes. :bitey:

Shaelyn, my middle name-
Shae, the part I go by, comes from "Shay", which comes from the Gaelic "Séaghdha", which, as far as I have been able to research, "possibly means "admirable" or "hawk-like" in Gaelic."

Titi Faréti, from "liked" (which I -think is passive participle form, and so, 'titi'. Please correct me if I'm wrong). Closest to 'admired'.

Faréti Lala Lafala Larédo, from 'like flying animal' (again, 'lala' for the -ing, right?). Closest to 'like bird', because 'bird', 'predator', and 'wing' weren't in the dictionary.

That second version is longer than my actual name! I like it. ;3

EDIT: If I use my given name, Patricia, which means 'noble one' or 'of noble birth', I would get this.

Tiréré Lafado, from 'high lady'.

I like that too. ^ ^

Gosh. If I were to translate my name in entirety, I fear my Sarus name would be about ten, maybe twelve words long!

EDIT TWO: I have remembered that taking into account the melded name "Shaelyn", it is derived from "Kaelin", which means "a rejoicer and the pool beneath a 'fall". Thus:

Dosa Lala Famito Timiso Tifati-larémi, from "She laughs [is laughing] below water-fall". Long, but pretty~ ... I imagine you could shorten it, somehow.

Haha.. I don't know which version of my names I like best. x3

Since my name is John (well, it actually just has the same meaning, got that info from www.behindthename.com), I would be "Jahve (i.e. God) is gracious".

If I use "light person" as a replacement of "Jahve/god", I'd get "frs drl m" (light person is). Now, if I use "graceful" as a replacement of "gracious" (dictionary.com defines "graceful" as a synonyme of one of the meanings of "gracious"), I'd get "frs drl m fmm" (light person is graceful).

Anyone have any other suggestions for replacements of "god" and "graceful"?

My name is Eve (that's my real name, too) so... it's meaning is:

"From the Hebrew name Chavvah, which was derived from the Hebrew word chavah "to breathe" or the related word chayah "to live". According to the Old Testament Book of Genesis Eve and Adam were the first humans. She gave the forbidden fruit to Adam, causing their expulsion from the Garden of Eden."

(( I just realised, Adam and Eve  Sorry. I get amused easily. ))

Well, I looked on the dictionary etc. because I'm lazy and there is no word for Breathe. So, take its related word, Live...

My name would be quite simply...

rst

Wouldn't it? I've literally within the hour started learning Sarus, so someone please let me know if I'm talking crap

well, here's a hard one. My name is Heather. It's of a Scottish bog shrub, a hearty flowering bush. It grows in almost any harsh conditions.

Problem is, there is no sarus for "plant" or "flower" or "bog", "swamp", "marsh", etc.

Heather's known for being burnt, so i looked up "fire"... but, with no "plant" analog, it's useless.

Anyone wanna help?? :fpbls:

EDIT:: my muse just struck. What do you guys think of "wet-land fire-food"?
wet land for the bog (wetland), and fire-food in reference to the Heather burning, or "Muirburn"

EDIT2:: maybe throw in a "tolerant" in the beginning. Heh. I don't know why, but my muse likes to play with me. "Give her one idea. Wait 20 minutes. Give her another idea."

I've read that my name, Cody, means "soft and cuddly, like a pillow" or "cushion" so I went with Dsm mrt drs (soft sleep thing) since there's no "pillow", "tool", or "cushion".

I'm glad to be a member of this new language!

"Behind the Name"

Means simply "heather" from the English word for the variety of small shrubs with pink or white flowers which commonly grow in rocky areas.

Perhaps we could use the rocky area thingy instead, and make your name more like "Grows-on-rocks" or something. Would that be plausible?

the thing is, that's almost *too* general, if you get my meaning... lots of not-so-nice things grow on rocks too.. moss, lichens...
I dont know. Maybe "fires-on-hills"? hm. well it's something to think about, im still open to any more suggestions though.

Besides, "heather" is much more known for it's Scottish background. Basically a famous and infamous Scottish wild flowering shrub. *L* a bit off topic here, but this name-replacement hunt has taught me a few things about the history behind my own name - for one, i didn't know it was burnt like it was, making it akin to fire... heh, now i think it fits me perfectly. my name is jakob^^
what could my name be...hmm *is thinking*

EDIT: From the Latin Jacobus, which was from the Greek Ιακωβος (Iakobos), which was from the Hebrew name יַעֲקֹב (Ya'aqov). In the Old Testament, Jacob (later called Israel) was the son of Isaac and Rebecca and the father of the twelve founders of the twelve tribes of Israel. He was born holding his twin brother Esau's heel, and his name is explained as meaning "holder of the heel" or "supplanter". Other theories claim that it is in fact derived from a hypothetical name like יַעֲקֹבְאֵל (Ya'aqov'el) meaning "may God protect". A famous bearer of this name was Jacob Grimm, the German linguist and writer who was, with his brother Wilhelm, the author of 'Grimm's Fairy Tales'.

may - dfr
god - > light person (like everyone says) frs drl
protect -> help - rdt

so my name would be dfr frs drl rdt
kinda long, but oh well ^^

My name is James also, looking through behindthename.com i found the following:

James is derived from Jacob:

Jacob (later called Israel) was the son of Isaac and Rebecca and the father of the twelve founders of the twelve tribes of Israel. He was born holding his twin brother Esau's heel, and his name is explained as meaning "holder of the heel" or "supplanter". Other theories claim that it is in fact derived from a hypothetical name like יַעֲקֹבְאֵל (Ya'aqov'el) meaning "may God protect".

I tried "holder of the heel" and ended up with something like:
"owner of the back claw"
"mrr lf l tsl tmm" (is that right?)
which kind of screws the meaning a bit.

For supplanter I got
"he who creeps into place" (to supplant = to replace in a underhand way)
"dt mr ftt sdt sfr"
Kind of a misnomer i think. ;)

For "may god protect"
"may the light father hide from accident" <_<
"dfr l frs rfl fsr lf stm"
Thats just kinda ....

edit:
"may the light farther hide from hurt"
"dfr l frs rfl fsr lf srr"
Thats a little better but not much :worry:

If someone could correct any major mistakes would be helpful, it is only the second day learning SRS, so Hi also :D

So i've come to a naming conclusion. "heather" is a flowering shrub, known for being burnt, that grows in many extreme conditions, including steep rocky hills...

i've settled on: fire-that-grows-on-hills

My names Steven, derived from a greek word for "crown."

It was hard to decide, but I went with "on strong head."

So..."dfm rlm mrs"

"Dofami relami mireso"

Let me know if you come up with anything better than "on strong head." :xbitey:

My name is Ludvig which means famous fighter, but there's no word for famous and fighter so I took well-known violent man - dfd.lrlt lrs.dfl

"Dofado larelati(am I supose to make it plural or something when it is known?) lareso dofala"

Am I right or wrong?
