That's fantastic Yex! The colours are bright and bold whilst the curve lines of the drawing compliment the harsh straight lines of the pavement. No question about it this capture is your greatest (I'm jealous). nice wide angle and depth of field too.

Markham: beautiful shot and idyllic atmosphere.

Beautiful shot's everyone.

I thought I'd put up one of my best shots for a while.
Maybe it's a good way to welcome myself back to Brackenwood.

I'm not normally one for flower photography either so this was quite a challenging location for me.
As usual C&C very welcome.

My little brother and sister are now big enough to move into 'big people beds' and so of course mine was the first to be apprehended.
Until my new bed comes in 4 weeks I'm in the dandy so I thought I'd make the most of it and took this shot.
For those who don't know a dandy is a caravan that folds out of a trailer.
On the plus side the bed in the dandy is a double and fantastically comfortable (until about 9am when the whole family decided to start banging on the wall).
A home made strobe light was used bottom right to create the contrast and cast the shadow.
This photo also made it onto explore but only got as high as #159, not too bad though out of 500

edit:

an oldie processed with a tobacco grad filter

Stunning photos Pillow! Some of those are just begging to be printed out and put in a nice big frame.

Posted Image

That's me in the pic, so obviously it's not my own work (except for a bit of Photoshop touch-up). But I'm not sure how I should crop it. Any ideas?

Echarin: I wouldn't crop it, I really like how the curve of the mountain frames it

Schizo: Wow, when and where in the UK was the thunderstorm? Last thunder storm I missed thanks to sleeping through!

Your sharp and soft project for college is incredible, very dynamic. How did you go about taking it? The focus is great and the lighting works well. You've got no excuse not to participate in the next photography competition ;)
What equipment are you using?

Oh dear, asking me about dates! My memory is probably one of my weakest points! That and my drawing ability! Haha. It was a year or more ago, in the south of england. And as for equipment, i made a white light box from wood for the Smashed Glass and Water Glass, and i use a Nikon D50. :)

I was actually thinking about taking from the other side, and maybe also from the bottom to keep the dimensions the same.

Ah a Nikon user, I'm free to respect you. Are you on flickr?

Echarin: You don't want to square it off, an image has its best impact when the focus/subject is on a third boundary (rule or thirds). Split you image with three equal lines and if the subject is on one or more of the lines you've got it right.

But with portraits don't you want to have more empty space in the direction the body's facing? At the moment it's kind of equal
But it does look good the way it does, and no matter how I cropped it it didn't get any better so it stays as it is.

And just because here's the picture before I took it into Photoshop:

And again the after-pic:

Nice cloning. Normally I'd say you want more space where the body's facing BUT you're looking directly into the camera rather than into the space so it doesn't need to be in this case. Plus you'd lose that lovely curve of the mountain!

Schizo:' what's your deviantART? Unfortunately the majority of my photo's are on flickr.

You're allowed to link to your page from the site, is not against any of the rules as far as I know. If it is the majority of the members need a talking to ;)

A few of the better shots taken yesterday when I was out with a friend swapping lenses.
The weather was terrible right up until the very end of the day. It wasn't even dramatic terrible but dreary and bland. Once again had to slave away with the exposure and white balance.

Really not one for flower photography but I should keep on my toes.

One day I'm buying this house, the front door's in the roof! Think of those sunrises too, yum.

Posted Image

Those are the better attempts of the worst weather.
Later that evening though we had a fantastic sunset which I had to capture.
You wouldn't believe they were all taken the same day.

Still had some trouble with exposure and this time noise but managed to handle it (somehow). Still need a polarising filter.
