So this isn't but still is artistic photography, but anyways.

I had the chance to go to Siggraph this year in Boston, this was my first time attending, and I LOVED IT. I expect to go next year as a student volunteer.

So here is some of the few pictures I took while I was in boston for little under a week.

Posted Image
-This was a picture taken in the emerging technologies section, it was a screen display that read the information like a camera, but broke up the colors and shapes in to smaller TV screens of predetermined and recored tv shows. was really interesting with all the people dancing in front of it, seeing themselves broked up like that.

Posted Image
-This was another picture taken in the emerging technologies section, you basically put on these VR goggles, and interacted with this image that was placed over this dummy robot thing. It would change between a Cute Japanese woman to a Japanese man in way too tight clothing.

Posted Image
-This was a picture taken at the Lakia Animations booth, they had these really great displays of some of their stop motion work, and these were just a few of the heads used in one of their many animations.

Posted Image
-These were some other stop motion puppets featured, just one set and the characters put in there, wasn't really sure what this was used for, but incredibly cool looking none-the-less. (By the way, I use this photo as my background on my computer :))

Posted Image
-The one and only Pixar booth, they were insane there, not by what they were showing, but how many people free crap from them, their line for free stuff was like a huge snake going through all the other displays in the display area. They were mainly selling Renderman 2.0 to the consumers now that it was availble for Maya.

Posted Image
- And of course what Siggraph is all about, getting drunk with other animators. Here's a pic of me,(the one making the incredibly ugly face) With my good friend Dan. We're at a Irish Pub in Harvard after the first day of Siggraph that consisted of Registering and discovering how the subways worked.

All in all really great.

-Overall, the image is rather dark, perhaps underexposed. The main area of interest (the water) looks good, but the rest of the image is very undefined.

-The very bright sky in the top right competes for focus, which in this case I would say is undesirable. It actually looks overexposed here, so I'm thinking maybe you tweaked the levels in PS a little bit too much? Just a guess.

The movement of the small waterfall & the surface of the water looks smooth & with the added effect of the deep blues, you have a very calm, soothing image. Again, a bit hard to tell the surroundings, but it looks like a place I'd like to be.

I didn't tweak anything. It's all natural, all I did was crop it (there was even more contrasting sky). It was just after sinset so the sky was still light. I obviously need to crop it a bit more to get rid of the top corner but I still wanted to have some of the dark clouds on the left. Ah well can't have both! Thanks for the comments though, greatly appreciated. The focus isn't too good and camera quality decreases at night and I didn't have a tripod with me. My hand is never steady enough especialy at night when it shows up more

to combined: Yeh I thought that too right after taking it! I was lucky with the timing I guess, not much skill to that :(

Yeah, you for sure want to use a tripod in low light conditions. A general rule of thumb is you should use one for any shutter speed value lower than the size of your lens. So if you're using a 50 mm lens, anything slower than 1/60 you should spring for the tripod. That way you can use longer exposures & lighten things up a bit. :)

Thanks! Normally I would have but I was just going for a walk to the beach with some friends and only just remembered to grab the camera let alone lug my heavy tripod around!
Thanks for the advice though!

Revisited the diner, and it turned out there was half of the building that I somehow missed out on the last time! One of the rooms was soaking with textured goodness, so I'm gonna share my favorites of my last bunch.....burned through 3 rolls of film in two days, which is pretty rapid for me.

CAUTION: LARGE PHOTOS & LOTS OF THEM

hey ketchup. i'm liking your photography man! You seem to hav moved into that abandoned house. lol

In my opinion, i think they would make a great location for fashion photography with a natural light look. I would maybe get someone to pose for the photos in that building, with the same lighting conditions. The 2nd photo in, as well as the 4th one from the end and the last one, would make cool backdrops for urban-esque fashion or winter fashion imo. There are a few elements in these photos that would help frame your subject and each picture i have mentioned have a dominant colour that could be used to contrast someone against.

great stuff man.

Thx for all the comments everyone <3 .

Pillow: I actually live in the countryside too, but don't let that stop you! Often times I'll load up my photography gear & drive around in random areas...some days you'll find nothing, other days you can find gold mines. Just gotta explore! Embrace the adventurer within! Just be careful, because most abandoned places you can get into a bit of trouble if people catch you in there.

Juggz: Not a bad idea at all! If you know of any lovely ladies interested who don't mind long car rides while listening to Bane, send them my way!

P.S. When I get a house, I'm going to texture the hell out of it to make it look like I HAVE moved into one.....you mind reader, you!

I use my father's Canon AE-1 Program which is probably as old as I am, although I just purchased a Bronica SQA medium format camera, so from now on my shots should be packed with still more texture-rich goodness.
