Hey, I'd say for using a mouse and paint, that's frigging awesomeeee...
The main thing I'd say needs to be fixed is around the um... pelvic.. area..? Yeah... hmm, I'm not sure how to say this so it isn't really awkward. Maybe a picture'll work. ![]() There. Now I'll go step by step with each thing. (starting with number one) 1.) This was the first thing that jumped out at me. In all of Adam's flashes, I think Bitey's legs are um... Yeah, more fur is needed there. (trying to make this post as un-awkward as possible)2.) When something furry bends its leg, usually the fur overlaps more fur. In your contour, I added an overlap like the one described. It isn't necessarily needed, but in my opinion, it's a subtle thing that makes the picture more realistic. 3.) When I zoomed in a bunch, I could see that you did draw the individual fingers of Bitey's left hand. (good work :)) The thing is though, that you drew them with a darker contour on his right hand than on his right hand. This isn't a big thing, I'm just being nit-picky. 4.) The thumb that grasps around a branch or some other cylinder is usually going to be below your other fingers. This way you'll be able to hold on. (Just think of drinking out of a glass or cup where your thumb goes.) This is another one of those nit-picky things. 5.) Bitey needs a belly button.
So that's about all I could do to criticise your artwork. Hope I wasn't too harsh. (or harsh at all for that matter... :/) I'd be less nit-picky, but I think it'll help you later on. |

Thanks for the tips! ^^ I'm slowly getting to know Bitey better. And yeah about MSpaint, my whole art life is about it alone, I've been using a mouse and MSpaint since I was 10 (5 years!) so it stops being surprising when you learn that one... I didn't do it just because I really like MSpaint or anything; but I don't have a scanner/tablet so it's the only way to get my stuffs on the computer screen... Anyway! I'm surprised you didn't comment about the hooves, that was what I disliked most about this... the thumb-not-under-branch thing was intentional, I wanted him to be clinging from it with four fingers. On the subject of hands (and the other hand I did) I might as well say that I completely hate drawing human hands, I never learned how and I try but I can never get it... I fixed the pelvis now and added him a bellybutton, he didn't have one before 'cause I was going by the wallpaper of him looking own at the little bigfoot, and he doesn't have one there. But eiiiither way thanks a lot, I'm trying to emulate Adam's style because I feel like characters look better in the style they were created with (I draw Wind Waker characters in Wind Waker style :P) |

Hey Lesia, Welcome to the forums! Nice Bitey, you did a very good job with MS Paint and a mouse! Although you should look into using another application with tools better suited to drawing. Here's a couple I suggest: http://www.artweaver.de/index.php?en_version http://www.gimpshop.com/ Both are Free and very powerful. Most people use Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter but they're quite expensive for hobbiests. Oh, and you should really try to get your hands on a Wacom and a scanner, will make a world of a difference. |

THAT IS SO COOL. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ONE OF THOSE. I used to make clay models when I had the clay. ^^ A lot of my stuff broke, but I made a lot of Oddworld creatures and a dragon... As for the newer-program thing, thanks for the suggestions; I actually do use Photoshop sometimes to color my art, but most of the time I can only do the lineart in MSpaint 'cause I'm so used to it... And on the hardware side, I'll probably never afford a tablet, an if I do it'll be weird to get used to. I draw with a mouse so much that I think I draw better with it than with a pencil... I don't intend to get really professional with my art or anything, so it's okay for now. Here's my first ever picture of Bitey, don't bother criticizing it 'cause I've learned a bit about him since then: ![]() and here is the second thing of Bitey I drew, which was a pixel portrait for this MMOSG called Furcadia (people see it when they click on me ^^) ![]() You have to zoom in to see the art, really; and the colors are different 'cause portraits on Furcadia change according to the colors you choose to be. |

Yes, once he's in this one set of preset colors I can make him whatever color I like ':D Don't bother criticizing this either, bad lineart, but corrected shading! (I think...) ![]() (Eventually I'm going to burn myself out drawing this guy and you'll never hear from me again. o_o) |

It looks pretty nice, but it could use work. Not all mountains look like that. Add a cloud or 2 to the sky, and then it might look better. |

Well, this thread hasn't been posted in for awhile. I suppose it is my duty to introduce new art to this thread. That is what I'm here for. ^^ Now, first off, this isn't exactly fan art, but I thought it was best to put this here. I also can't imitate Adam Philip's style worth beans. Second off, please don't kill me. ![]() Yes, it's a female version of Bitey. I drew this out of a fit of boredom one day, mainly because I wanted to see if I could find a way to fix the dilemma of her chest. People have suggested flowers, tree branches, back views, fur, and much more. I went a different route. I put an animal skin over her chest to keep them strapped down (for my logic regarding this, please go here. I made her look more like a horse because horses have sleeker fur than goats (which is what Bitey looks like he is from the waist down), which makes her look feminine, and going with the horse theme, she has single hooves instead of cloven ones. I also added the ponytail on her head to match her tail and to further show that she is female. Without the longish hair, she looks like Bitey with stubby horns. Speaking of the horns, the horns are smaller to again show that she is female, much like how cows have smaller horns than bulls. Here's what a back view would look like, showing how the animal skin is tied. ![]() This one was kinda rushed... |

*clapclapclapclap* love it!!!! Finally a female saytr!!! I think perhapse it wouldn't have been too bad with goat's legs and hooves, just a little neater and less shaggier than Bitey's. And I think you matched Adam's style wonderfully

Cat, that is a great design. the ONLY thing I would loose would be the ponytail, personally... it would be weird for her to have just one long tift of hair in the back of her head, i think. As far as it making her look feminine, I think you did a good enough job on female-esque eyes to cover that. |
