Once upon a time, there lived a little girl. Emily was her name and, at the age of 6, it wasn’t uncommon for little girls of her age to be afraid of the dark. As the sun faded away and the stars began to shine, Emily felt that fear creeping up that torments her, night after night. ‘Emily?’ her mother called, ‘Yes, mummy?’ she replied. ‘It’s time for bed’, ‘But mummy…’, ‘No buts, its time for bed’. Emily, feeling desperate, confessed to her mummy that she was afraid of the dark. Mothers, being mothers, always find a way of comforting their children. ‘I tell you what’, her mother said looking at the family dog, Digger, ‘how about if I let Digger sleep in your room tonight?’. Emily loved her dog so much, and with the thought of his company, agreed to go to bed. Emily climbed into bed and her mother sat down beside her and tucked her in, nice and snug. Digger, being the loyal guardian he was, lay down on the floor next to the bed. Before getting up, her mother said to Emily ‘If you get scared during the night, reach over the side of the bed and Digger will lick your hand; this is his way of telling you everything is safe and you can go back to sleep’. With this assuring thought, Emily turned over and closed her eyes. With a flick of a switch, off went the light. Darkness remained. Sometime during the night, Emily awoke to the sound of something strange in the distance. It was a faint whining noise. She overcame with fear, and quickly hid beneath her bed covers. Peaking over the top of her blanket, she starred into the black abyss in front of her. She lay still, listening to the strange whining sound coming from down the hall. Suddenly she remembered Digger. So as her mother instructed, Emily slowly reached over her bed and stretched out her hand. Feeling a warm tender lick, Emily felt the fear drift away and sighed with relief. Everything was safe. But still the whining remained. So, feeling confused, Emily decided to get out of bed and investigate the noise. Emily, thinking of the lick, thought to herself ‘If Digger says it’s safe, there’s nothing to be scared of’. So, feeling brave, she climbed out of her bed and walked by herself to the door. She peered both ways down the hallway before venturing out and then descended down the stairs. Step by step, the whining became louder. As she got closer, she realised it was coming from the kitchen, but she also realised something else. ‘The whining sounds familiar’ she thought. To answer her question, she quickly opened the kitchen door only to find Digger. He was locked in the kitchen. |

Yea. Heard dis one. Except, the one I have heard, the dog was found dead, hanging in the bath tub with a message in blood on the wall that read: "Humans can lick too." ^i find that one freaky with the message and all^

It was a guy under her bed. In the version I know of, he killed the dog and hung the dog in the bath tub. The girl woke to a dripping sound, the dogs blood dripping in the tub. The guy under her bed licks her hand, she thinks it's the dog. She goes to check the dripping noise and she sees the dog dead, hanging in the tub with blood dripping. On the wall is a message in blood that says "Humans can lick too." Something of the sort. |

every one knows that its obviously not digger. its someone else. a human obviously. I liked the digger one the best cus it uses suspense more than violence. I mean think about whats to happen next. Imagine it! Emily is standing in the kitchen and she realizes someone was licking her hand. She has to walk in her room and turn on the light and find like...a naked guy with blood all over his face sprawled on the ground crying. Can you imagine the fear? Aw! It is so freaky! |

Well I liked your story. it' is more suspenseful. if I were her I'd call the police if I hear something I go to the nieghbors house or take our wireless phone into the yard. are her parents home? if so I'd go to thier room with a really sharp object incase someone was there. I'd also check outside first to see if there are accoplicases, if not I'd leave the door open, check in thier room, if someones there run outside and lock the door. (with the phone) wow...I don't know why I said all that. hmm.... |
