Hey

I have a big problem, I have a button that inside a movie clip, which is inside another movie clip... The problem is, is that the button doesn't actually work.

How can i get round this?

The code is correct, and the up, over, down and hit things work too.. but it just doesnt do anything.

Thanks in advance,
Jack

From memory, this is a weird thing that flash does, and to my knowledge you just can't do it, I'm afraid. :(

it depends jack.

Do u want the button to control the movie clip it is in?

Or do u want the button to control the movieclip that the movieclip containing thr button is in?

Or do u wan the button to control the main timeline?

Its simple enough. Here is the code for the button:

Quote:

on (release) {
_root.gotoAndPlay(45);  <---------whatever frame number u want
}

the _root. tells the movie that if that particular button is pressed, the main timeline is controlled.

If u want to control the movieclip the button is in, its simply the normal button code.

To control the movieclip that contains the scond movie (which contains the button) u need to create the path so that the movie knows u r trying to control it.

Quote:

on (release) {
_root.MOVIECLIPINSTANCENAME.gotoAndPlay(45);  <---------whatever frame number u want
}

{EDIT}

Just read Vectors post....:huh: i thought...well...i have done the above in my experience. but...unless...AHHH I dunno. im confused. maybe i read Jacks post wrong?

{EDIT NUMERO 2}
Just tested what I posted, (which maybe is what Jack meant) and it works fine and dandy...

Maybe I got ur meaning wrong mate...
