I agree with ya on the acting in the first one, Com, but I really disagree on this second one. It's gorgeous as is. I think you or I might "over jiggle" things often. Nothing at all wrong with it, just a style pref. Angs on the other hand is more subtle and I think it's just right. You may not "see" the bounce, but you feel it, and it has a great effect on me.

It can be looked at this way. Looney tunes are pretty squishy, like us, but Disney is less so, like Ang. Both are great fun to watch, but lets not make Disney change it's thang, ya know?

Anyway, my two cents....

alero yours is awesome, the only thing that remotely bothered me was the begining blanket movment. it looked a little rigid but honastly thats very smooth animation right there.

EDIT

how would i go about doing traditional paper animation? should i just use a bunch of paper or is there somthing i should buy? i think im going to have trouble doing this haha

EDIT 2

This (the talk about what that character could be saying) also has me thinking, maybe there should be a thread about lip-syncing. Sombody could make an animation of a mouth moving with a phrase of their choice and then sync the words to the mouth of the animation. the rest of the community tries to guess what that person has said based off of the version with no sound. i dunno just a thought. maybe its already been done

You don't nessasaraly NEED tracing paper, I user super white printer paper and it works magic.

I suggest you find a local animation or artist society, most memberships are about $30 - $50, I paid $50.. They allways have EVERYTHING, including mounted cameras above the table, and easy to use programs.

Ah, good point Dave. You're absolutley right. I guess im just desperatly trying to find the smallest thing to critisize on an animation thats allready quite good^^. So it ends up looking like im saying "that's wrong, this is the way you should do it" Atleast when reading the text I wrote in my picture crit :yfok: And thanks for the crit of my crit=D Especially since it's coming from you

peace

This is the first time I've seen any of your animations, Ang. Anymore?

If all goes well in the next few weeks, there will be a really big one coming. ;)

Thanks for all the great praise and criticism, guys. One of the biggest reasons I love this place so much is because there's a lot of people to point out the weaknesses of my work and it helps me grow. I love you guys so much it's crazy. :bfoot:

Damn fine stuff Anghenfil! I only wish my first two pencil & paper anims were that good!

Don't really have any crits to offer that haven't alredy been said. I do like how you've done the quick movements in both w/o it looking cheap *Madagascar, cough...*. I also enjoy the shoving of his hand into his "pocket" in the dialogue scene. Beautiful stuffs!

And thanks Comlock for posting better versions....these are going into my "Other's Animation" folder alongside some other great stuff I admire (Brackenwoods before Adam started using file protection, amongst others :P)

Pharoah, are you in Johnny Robinson's Single Frame Motion class?

The paint animation is pretty good, nice line quality. I would have done something more abstract or work with large tonal areas with paint animation, because that's generally how you get the most out of the medium.

haha omg anghenfil i'm in his intro. to animation class! awesome dude! yeah i'm an illustration major but i wanted to take some animation classes too. I'll probably take single frame spring quarter or during the summer (he may have an online class). are you in his single frame class right now?

oh yeah...he said that we could use graphite if we wanted so i tried that....but yeah some of the people in my class did some amazing pieces with oil paint.

Actually, I'm a third year animation student. I was watching animation tests during the lunch break and someone in the dynamics class just happened to see you shooting that same animation, and mentioned it to me. And there's really only one time students do paint animation at RIT (unless you're a freaky experimental graduate or something), so I made an educated guess. Got single frame and intro mixed up.

My paint animation was done with whiteboard and dryerase markers. ;)

Bouncing ball animation featuring anticipation/squash & stretch. Here's the treatment on paper:

It's a few tweens shy on the first panel, but the basic idea should communicate.

G'day Y'all!

Whilst listening to a newly accquired song; Hide and Seek - Imogen Heap
I had a vision/dream, I was the camera, and I was viewing the suicide of a person.
I know exactly how im going to be doing the camera angles and some of the animation and sounds. All I'm having trouble with is the effects of the water, steam and blood. So I have begun experimenting..

Nothing on steam yet.. I have done mist, but not really steam.
I have done a little on water, but nothing really to show.
The most part is the blood, more specifically.. blood in water. I have always been interested about it.. but never done anything about it.. here is my first try:
cut-hand

If you have any suggestions.. im all ears.. i used the blur filter and the shape tween.
If you want to see the .FLA just gimme a shout.

Thanks a Bunch!

Well I guess that'll save you the trouble of shooting any video reference... ACK!! :gasp:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm moving on ahead and blocking in the animation for the bouncing ball. No squash or stretch yet, just inputting breakdowns & spacing. The tangents are set to flat, things might look at little odd. :++:

G'day ak!

yes.. my dreams are quite detailed, hence why i usually refer to them as visions.

As for the animation it looks good so far, but i am confused as to how the ball, when its on the ledge that moves, bounces up. Perhaps if the ledge went down then up, as tho its hitting the ball, it would look more.. realistic.
Just a curious observation.

Keep up the good work! :D

That's a gosh-darn good idea!! I've been pining over that part for a bit, now!

Thanks, w00t!
