G'day Y'all! Random idea for a very very short animation. Its crude and needs alot of work, but its the basic idea for the short. There's meant to be people sitting on the seats aswell. Train byby |

Hey purple! The main thing I would suggest, is add some arm movement to the walk cycle. I GOT A TABLET FOR CHRISTMAS! Here are my first tablet drawn animations. http://img221.imageshack.us/my.php?image=imptestlj6.swf |

Great work deuce, i can tell you're going to improve a lot with the tablet. Purpleman I think you could brush up with your wlkcycles. It looks fair enough now but for more of a smooth beleivable movement you need to exaggerate things a little more. Take a look at this. I've posted it up multiple times before but I really do think it is the best online free reference you can find. (It's from the book Cartoon Animation by Preston Blair) |

Well this is what I've done today. He is supposed to be stretching, but im not sure which one looks like he's actually stretching. 1 arm - http://img81.imageshack.us/my.php?image=woodentale1ws5.swf 2 arms - http://img403.imageshack.us/my.php?image=woodentale1ms6.swf let me know which is better edit: space bar brings up a time line controller, and also, image shack messes up the screen size, so bare with me |

I kinda like the second one better but your right, it could be confused with him yelling or something. I reckon it needs a bit of anticipation. By that I mean the character should crush up a bit before he stretches. For instance look at what a normal human does when they stretch in the morning. Right before they put their arms up they will squash their shoulders together a little and tilt their head. Maybe that could help. Really diggin the drawing though. |

I had that same idea, but I thought it could be confused with him preparing to yell. |

that's true... Perhaps try slowly lowering his arms once they're up. It all depends on how you want it. Just act it it out
Just out of interest is this going to be a full cartoon? It looks really nice

I got the stretch to look more realistic, and I'll use that slowly lower arms idea. Also, yes, this will be (or at least I intend for it to be) a full length cartoon, but im not sure anymore, because some kid told me it looks too "brackenwoody" to be an original cartoon. What do you think? |

It's kinda brackenwoody but when I saw it that's not the first thing I thought...
I really like the background.

You should try making his arms make a little movement before they go up, and have his hands clenched (makes it look a lot more like stretching
) You could also add sound to help, like a yawn, or a little growl, or whatever sound impy guys make when they're stretching... Hope that helps! |

Thanks for the tips everyone. I suppose I'll try and finish this, I just hopes no one thinks less of me as an animator because my cartoon resembles someone elses.

who says it has to resemble it. So you have a character that kinda resembles a yuyu ... its a fairly simple character design which is what you should be using as a begening animator. You also could change up the land scape as well and make trees a little more crazy or something. Dont shoot your idea down just cous one person said that. If you end up adding something though that looks like a satyr and named Billy and maybe a big furry creature that is called a Footofbigness you should consider a new route :P. |

Hey Everyone! Man, it's been ages since I posted any animations here.... So here ya go! I did this animation of "The Cooper Gang" from Sly 3: Honour Amoung Thieves. I found the pic on suckerpunch.com, and then I animated tiny details on each of the characters. The animations go from one character to another, and are quite fast, so here's the order of animation: -Murray, the pink hippo in the top right (Look at his face) -Penelope, the mouse in the bottom left (Look at her remote control) -Sly, the raccon in the middle (Watch his right arm and his cane) -Bentley, the turtle to the left of Sly (Look at his face) -Panda King, the panda at the back (Look at his face) -Guru, the koala to the right of Sly (Look at his face) Hope you like it! (It may take a little while to load) Cooper Gang |

Woah! big quote! I think it looks prettey good! I have played that game your talking about(Sly3) and I think that the Panda and the koala's animations look a little wierd for thier personality. The raccoon...Why does he lift his arm? and on his cane...it looks as though it's part of the koala...so maybe you could try animating somthing else of him...The arm movement aswell looks a little wierd...his thumb and a bit of his pinky gets gone. So I also think that if you changed the Panda's Smile to the Flames around his hands anim. then I think you'll get a much better result.(I know it sounds challenging...) Hope I helped!
Is it possible that you could up the frames a little for us? Cos I think it looks really good...just a little slow for fire... Anyways looks good All! -Wiz
