Hmm... thought I had posted this already. My awful first animation Yeah, I know it sucks. And it's completely unoriginal. And it's short. And I realize the head changes both shape and size throughout the animation (and for a few frames it's just a box), but it's my first. My next will be something more 'normal'. A walk cycle, maybe an animation of someone picking something up or sitting down in a chair or something like that. |

It looped fine for me Take a look at this though. You need to emphasize the upward and downward motions that occur in a normal walk to keep a rythm and a sense of weight. Be sure to check The Whole site out too, I know I've posted this many times but it's really a very nice place to start.

Ahaha! Awesome. That looks pretty cool too DimonM, I've never really tried smoke so I'm not sure how to help but it looks a little too solid or something, like there sould be little bits breaking off etc. I don't know

I would just take out the going in reverse part, it just takes away from that pretty solid effort. |

Great job deuce! I love the fluidity of the initial ball to bird transformation although I think it loses a little bit of the nice fluid feeling when it goes to the flower. I like the tree though that was really nicely done, I think some of your objects should just be phased in though instead of trying to show a drawing process. Like the little catapult/teeter totter youy had at the end there, I think that should be quickly phased in instead of drawn maybe as the apples falling. But then again this is the daily animation thread and all of this is simply for you're own benefit. |

That smoke is awesome, mate! If you're concerned about making it really look like smoke, then playing around with different opacity settings and adding different layers to it could really bring out the smoke in that incredibly fluid sketch of yours. Adding a soft edge or glow may be another way of really accomplishing the effect you're going for. Also, while we all really like to receive comments/criticism from Adam, there are plenty of great, highly talented artists here aside from him (Ang, Bleego, Commie, et al), so there is more than one source of artistic critique here. Basically, keep an open mind, try lots of things, and keep animating.

My fourth paper animation! This is not only the longest assignment I've done (almost ten seconds, 120~ drawings), but it's also my first with two characters, changing leads, etc. I tried out a lot of new things in this one... and some things were less successful than others. Crits please. The theme we had to work with was "friendly." Thanks for hosting, Arthur. Friendly Animation |

I really like it Ang, the character interaction is wonderfully executed, I think my only main crit would be before the cat lunges I wasn't completely sure what was going on, the characters nose at first looked kinda like a ball in his mouth or something but it all comes together when the cat is pulling on his lips. I would also say theres a few too many frames of the main character in the one position before the cat hits him. The piece is really great though, and damn are your extremes looking nice. |
